I loved Vanessa's portrayal as Evie, the emotional vampire in "What We Do in the Shadows" the TV series. It was really hilarious. I find her character and the character of Colin so hysterical and fascinating at the same time. It sort of touches on a mental health issue that some people struggle with, whether you are the energy vampire or are trying to get away from one. 😂
I adore Vanessa and Jonah. I don't usually listen to or watch podcasts so late at night, but this episode was totally worth it. How Did We Get Weird gets me from VT to NH's North East Kingdom and back with a smile on my face the entire hour-long drive.
Beautiful episode. While I'm the wrong age to be a Blossom fan, both women are lovely, funny, smart and hamishe. The relationship between the sibs is golden as well. The three of them exemplify hard work, aka consistent practice. Love their minds, their hearts, their humor, their artistry, their tenacity. I am where I need to be. Thx, Breakdown.
Hey, I'm 68 and became a Blossom fan anyway. Watching it now, it's very much of its time, and one needs to adjust for not having been a young girl in the early 90s. Still, it was groundbreaking for its time, even for adults. And there was Ted Wass, whoa (to quote Joey Lawrence's character). Along with a number of parts and guest spots being filled by adult actors like Barnard Hughes and Melissa Manchester. Plus the catchy theme music done by Dr. John. I actually streamed the whole series about five years ago, when I wasn't feeling well for a week or so, and it was perfect. Just saying.
I loved this interview! The nostalgia of Blossom, the sibling perspectives, the acceptance of what is (very Byron Katie), etc. - just an easy & uplifting episode. Thank you!
I watched this podcast and after Vanessa's raves about Blossom I've binged watched for several of the last 36 ish hours. I'm a little older than you Mayim and went back to college in the early 90s so I wasn't watching much TV when it was originally on. Great show!! 👍 love this podcast too!!
Okay, for this episode filled with Blossom nostalgia, I just have to say: *the tips frequently offered for mental health are fascinatingly close to the original Blossom theme song's lyrics, memorably sung by the great Dr. John. Which is to say: maybe this is (mostly) all we really need!* As a reminder: Don't know about the future That's anybody's guess Ain't no good a reason For gettin' all depressed Fire up your pad and pencil I'll give you a piece of my mind In my opinionation The sun is gonna surely shine Stop all your fussin' Slap on a smile Go out and walk in the sun for awhile Don't fight the feelin' You know you wanna have a good time And in my opinionation The sun is gonna surely shine ----- (Just kidding. Maybe.)
OMG finally! 😻 I adore how enthusiastic she was when speaking of Blossom 😹❤️ I'm very happy for those two. Our mental health benefits greatly from practicing yoga and meditation 😊 Thank you for another great episode, Mayim! I'm hoping Jonathan will appear in the following episode 😁 Take Care Always! 🫶🏻
Loved the Blossom talk. I’ve been watching it on Hulu lately. 🌼 When it’s solo Mayim show, can we get a minute of Jonathan’s thoughts at the end that he films later? I feel he’d have a lot to say about this episode.
Such an interesting discussion about blossom. I loved loved loved blossom. Would be a dream of mine to bombard mayim with blossom questions 😂 the finale for me felt a little anticlimactic but don reo does say he wanted to leave the door open for a return one day! Hope so! 😊
These are the women I find the most beautiful, attractive, and most interesting. I don’t get the attraction towards the cookie cutter Hollywood thing. Y’all are missing out
Just like Jonathan, I always love the episodes with Mayim's fans 🤍 I also learned that there are different kinds of Leukemia, I didn't know that. Love this episode, love your ring too, May. 🫶
Vanessa is definitely an underrated comedian she deserves a lot more praise and fame

Mayim's laugh is so big and from the heart.

Great episode! Vanessa & Jonah were really interesting & funny!
What a great interview.
I will forever be obsessed with the image of young Mayim trying out for Rum Tum Tugger, my favourite cat from Cats lmao
I was home sick binge watching Webster...Mayim was on it!!

Excited to see this episode, and eagerly awaiting the next one: ask mayim anything 😊🎉❤
When u somehow don’t worry and understand in your mind that you will be better…as from leukemia…you will be. That happened to me as well.

I need to watch blossom now!

life is about relationships, and if you're not taught to have a healthy relationship with yourself and your family, life becomes hell
Ok, Weird Al on the Breakdown, please!
✨👑✨🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆💜💫
Vanessa is a funny actress but I find her very surface in interviews like so many actors she seems impenetrable
These are the women I find the most beautiful, attractive, and most interesting. I don’t get the attraction towards the cookie cutter Hollywood thing. Y’all are missing out
