- Really a video of Ep.2 and 3, but it may as well be 1-3 because he's
not in 1. A little tribute to the understated and relatively unnoticed
acting of Paul Darrow.
Music is - 'Playing a Game of Go', 'Looking for the Next Great
Idea', 'Cracking the Russian Codes' and 'Creating 'Governing Dynamics'
from the 'A Beautiful Mind' Soundtrack by James Horner.
And no, I won't show him coming through that hatch again. Sorry. Развлечения
The late great Mr Paul Darrow was bloody good in Blake's 7 no disrespect to the other wonderful characters in series but Avon stood out for me
Rest in peace Paul and thank you
This was always a show about conflicting philosophies: idealism (Blake) versus realism (Avon). Ironically, Terry Nation decided to have the two "ideals" annihilate each other at the end of the final season. Ultimately the realist (Avon) could not make the ultimate jump of faith and trust idealism (Blake). It was a clever twist to have Avon kill Blake rather than the Federation stormtroopers. This series was brilliantly conceptualized and the dialogue very cleverly written. Nothing in modern sci-fi has surpassed it on that front.
beth6787 Have to agree. Shame people will pick on the cheap sets etc than this
Terry didn't write any of season 4
BLAKE the silly communist got done in.
One of the reasons Blake was killed and the only one to show blood was that Gareth Thomas did not want to ever be Blake again he made it quite clear he didn't want to be typecast! Too late. Apart from Children of the Stones (epic 'kids' tv series set in Avebury... near my birthtown Swindon if you've not seen it you are missing out!) and Sherlock Holmes 'The Bruce Partington plans' with The late Great Jeremy Brett as Sherlock.
Before he died he seemed to soften to the character that made his name. But Jan, Gareth and now Paul are all gone. May they rest well with the ancestors.
@@benjaminsidneykidd-bentley3966 Jan is certainly not gone!
It was nice taking a trip down memory lane with that background music and Avon s voice. So soothing yet menacing & dangerous _ such a bloody turn on.
Filmed in a quarry. Had little or no budget. Dialogue questionable. Then there's Avon. Makes it all worth while.
Great series!! I saw this series while I was stationed in Australia!! This and Doctor Who were big favorites there!! Brings back lots of good memories!!
05:32..."It will only let us have one gun each" - he says handing Jenna her second gun. I spot a bit of a flaw in the system there.... ha!
Not a bad selection of clips, hut the new music overlaid sometimes drowns out the dialogue... :(
Amazing that no one has commented on this in 4 years. Just heard the news that Jacqueline Pearce has passed away, although this is about Avon they were two very similar characters 'sometimes' on opposing sides!
One of my favorite anti-heroes of all time. I have a programmer/hacker friend who
is the epitome of Avon; ironically, I'm more like Blake, so we have similar discussions. ;)
he's a left brain thinker, you're a right brain thinker. I have a similar relationship with my mate. I'm more like Blake (right brainthinker too).My mate is all cold and clinical, with clipped abrupt speech).
My youngest son and myself love to talk together he is soooo analitical! and is only 20. Very clever young man (think he gets it from my mum), clashes in a nice way with his step dad. They have both did Psychology but his from a sociological point of view and my husbands scientific point of view... very interesting to watch them! Myself and my oldest son watch them spar! So much fun.
do not forget a Jena(houp)
Estupenda serie, me encantaría volver a verla. Excelentes actores y un argumento muy original que se sale de las típicas series de ci fi convencionales y hasta rosa, diría yo. Escribo desde Venezuela.
Loved this from the first episode. I really fancied Avon!!!
Wish in the end they had all managed to have a better fate.
Well the only bleeding body shown was actually Blake: a good scriptwriter could have brought the others back & Nation did not really want that ending. Too late now alas as most would not accept anybody else in the roles.
Miss him already.
Avon!
i miss this show so much, you guys should tell netflix to add it lol
Underated? Well 97% of Blake's 7 fans love Avon ;) (I am not one of them but he was still very good)
very nice but music is a bit too loud
The time to rewatch is nigh!
Don't relie on other people. They just stab you in the back.
One mistake I found in the series was (apart from the gun bit) was why, if it was Avons brother, why did he mouth Avon and not Kerr? Always wondered why? Anyone any solutions out there?
I am actually writing a story that explains this. But I've seen other explanations, most common being Avon comes from some extremely high-level Alpha family that uses the family name as a first name for the first-born boy. Or second boy. Or whatever. I am totally sick of the Alpha Elite stuff..there's not even a hint about his family. Which is why I am having some fun writing about it. Blake is said to be Alpha, not Avon: it all seems to rest on: 'you're a civilised man, Avon" ..Vila is a Delta and Coser in "Weapon" is a Beta-class technician. That's it.
Regarding names, you often hear it said that Blake and Avon are called so because they are upper class, while Vila is Vila and not 'Restal' because this is a British class tradition...this is bollocks, it is Americans projecting how they speak/spoke to the Black help. In Britain, the aristocratic "Alpha' tradition is to call the working class by their surnames and no honorific, as in "Jeeves" the butler. The other working class would call the important servants 'Mr' and they'd all give their employer a title, too.
Jenna is 'Jenna', though, due to sexism. And irritatingly, fan-fic writers seem to be unable to handle the idea of Jenna as alone and single..they always have to create a smugglers clan for her. This is FEMALE writers. They seem to hate her.
"Ill be the death of you blake
02:26 least you're alive, not unless free man can think and speak. There is no honesty in the world anymore just greed 2014.
A rather cynical thought...but sadly true.
hmmm... stirring tho' the background music is, the idea is poorly executed if it drowns out the dialogue.
Better w/o the heroic music.
