    Hi!
    With my oooold PC with Pentium D 830 3.0 GHz GPU, I get much better results.
    Servo -- 1030317; 35757; 994242
    Base -- 53606; 28742; 25269
    Do you make any changes in a mean time in order to improve Latency?
    Thank you in advance.

    That jitter is around 100000, it does not matter if you are using mesa board right ?
    But it matter if you using parallel breakout board like Bob ?
    Please point me the link explaining this matter.
    I’m looking for low latency mini PC to build with Bob card that gas parallel port .
    But could’t find it.

      i used an old PC that i saved from the dumpster for my first CNC. I wouldn't buy a new mini PC and still tinker with parallel Port. If you need something cheap, i'd use something like an Ramps or GRBL Shield and not worry about LinuxCNC.

    Nice work!!
    I had this error when initiate the Linuxcnc. hm2/hm2_7i96s.0: error finishing read. Anyone else had the same?

    • @theartoftinkering
      @theartoftinkering  Год назад

      I do occasionally. I haven't figured out what causes this. But afaik this error occurs when the connection between linuxcnc and the Mesa card timeouts.

    Alex, I noticed that the max latency is bigger on the base thread than the servo thread. I see this happening on my setup as well. Fortunately I don't need the base thread - at least for now. Do you know why this happens?

    • @theartoftinkering
      @theartoftinkering  Год назад +2

      Hi, I don't really know, to be honest. But i think it has todo with the base thread being just 25μs. If it matters depends on the application. As i understand it Base Tread is only used on those setups, where Step Pulses are generated on the pc and send out over the parallel port. Instead i use a mesa card, wich handles all of the step generation, which makes the base thread obsolete in this case. If you want reliable answers tho i'd recommend asking in the LinuxCNC Forum.

      The base thread is generally used for non time ciritcal applicatios where as the servo thread operates in real time
      so the max latency is allowed to be bigger

      If your current setup works i would not update unless you need to. But i think your Pc might be fine, just try it out.

      i am sorry i can't help you. I'd recommend to check LinuxCNC Forum, your configuration is nothing special and has been done before. See: forum.linuxcnc.org/16-stepconf-wizard/30265-help-with-dual-steppers-on-y-axis-and-config
      Regarding Mach3 i certainly don't reccomend to search Mach1lic.dat on google and check if somebody uploaded his Licence file.
