@Ricky Demetrius it worked and I actually got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thanks so much you saved my ass :D
@Lucca Jesus no problem :D
This is what got me into wrestling. 4pm on ESPN
Absolutely, along with awa at the Showboat Casino.
The Lightning Kid (aka X-Pac) vs Jerry Lynn were my favorite matches back then
Gwf was a good blend of new and old talent.
Scott Anthony was so funny in gwf.
His announcing was outstanding. I remember during a commercial break that happened during the middle of a match, Craig Johnson said, "Don't worry, fans; you didn't miss any of the action." And Anthony replied, "What are you talking about? They missed tons of action. That's what they get for not coming to the matches live." His delivery was amazing. I was disappointed that he wasn't used right in the years after this as Scotty Flamingo in WCW and Johnny Polo in the WWF. But he did eventually have a nice run with the Raven character.
I enjoyed the GWF
I remember every time they asked Scotty "who's the boss"--he would say "Tony Danza"!
How Pedicino pulled a piece of tail like Bonnie is one of wrestling’s biggest mysteries, I guess because he had money? But not much after GWF was done.
Joe had some money but he kind of was made a fool of. He had fallen for some scheme from someone in Nigeria and the whole reason the GWF got started was because he thought this Nigerian prince was going to invest $30 million in the GWF. Jo thought he was going to be able to attract some of the top stars in the business at the time but when the money never came in he kind of look like a fool. I think eventually he did end up getting some start up money but it was nowhere near the $30 million it was I think just a few million dollars to get the company going. It was kind of snake bit from the start and honestly it’s a miracle that it lasted as long as it did.
It wasn’t bad. It got me back into wrestling when I was a teen. Find GWF more hardcore before ECW at the time. This was the period WWF was doing its new generation thing and had a clown.
Love your pfp
I agree, I grew up in the UK but got the GWF Brutes, Bumps and Bandages VHS and GWF had some terrific heels such as Eddie Gilbert and John Tatum . The faces I loved included The Patriot, Terry Garvin and the Renegade Warriors..
I remember watching GWF when I lived in New York. Not the most polished wrestling production, but it was entertaining.
You didn’t even talk about the Light-Heavyweight title. That was the backbone of the company.
There are many things left out or miss pronounced throughout these series of vidos I've noticed!
The Winner Barry Horowitz! Chaz! Lol

I remember attending 1 show in 1994. The wrestlers would actually stand behind the seats where the food and bathrooms were. You could go up to them, and I remember patting the Angel of Death on the back of his shoulder and wiping the baby oil off my hand onto my jeans. It was so much more exciting seeing it in person. I got my picture with the champ Chris Adams. The Sportatorium was such a legendary building. I wish I could go back in time and enjoy more shows in person.
The GWF was good at filling the niche left behind by World Class and the USWA. It had a quite a bit of the old school sensibilities. And it was great for those who needed a daily pro wrestling fix. But one problem that took away from much of the fun and excitement was that much of the violence (i.e., what made pro wrestling _pro wrestling_) was "censored." Anytime a wrestler was *about* to attack his opponent in a vicious way, or used a -foreign- international object, the camera would cut to an angle of the crowd. It wasn't always a reaction shot; the crowd sometimes were just passively sitting around like nothing was happening. It was a far cry from the AWA shows that aired around the same time back in the eighties, where the matches were a bit more brutal and blading was a common occurrence.
El Fuego Grande was my favorite GWF wrestler. The feud between Big John Hawk (who would later become Bradshaw/JBL) and Hollywood John Tatum, who every week seemed to gain another degree on his black belt, was something I also loved. Also, Doyle apparently having an affair with the boss's wife was a long running gag that never saw a payoff.
Around 91 and 92 this was a great promotion but when Northstar took over it went downhill fast
I love how you made this documentary of GWF. Although I remember as a teenager I remenber wrestlers like Kerry Von Erich, Chris Adams, Eddie gilbert, Black Bart wrestling in other wrestling organizations but never saw Global Wrestling Federation on Televesion cause my parent couldn't afford cable TV back in the day. What I do remember buying the Pro Wrestling magazine from the store and reading about Global Wrestling federation. As an adult just watching some matches on youtube and enjoy some of these matches. The match I would really like to watch is the TRIBUTE show that was done to Kerry Von Erich which included the match of Kevin Von Erich and Chris Adams VS Micheal P.S Hayes and Buddy Roberts. Does any one have this match. One this I give props to Global Wrestling Federation because for a small organization like them gave a memorial tribute to Kerry Von Erich and WWE basic didn't even remembered him when he died.
For those who don't remember, Rod Price was Steve Austin's forgotten partner whom he left behind in Dallas. He was the "Marty Janetty" to the "Shawn Michaels". Steve's career soared while Rod's career flatline
I thought Steve debuted as a singles star in GWF with his Valet, shortly after he was signed to WCW
@@jamstarent21 Like Shawn Michaels who also started from the bottom, Steve started in USWA as a "scrub" named Steve Williams, being used as a punching bag in squash matches straight out of Chris Adams wrestling school, worked his way to mid-card and allowed start winning matches, when it was decided, much like not only Shawn Michaels, but also WCW later when he was put with Brian Pillman as the Hollywood Blondes, that he would fare better as a tag team partner, so he was put with Rod Price, and they were together as one unit for quite awhile afterwards before Steve moved to WCW
Rod Price is a World name.. what you talking about
I enjoyed GWF was great seeing at the time future Wrestling stars as mention all who went on to be big stars in wrestling.
Chris Adams AND Scott Levy on the same roster? Joe Petticino? A young mulleted Bruce Prichard? I'm surprised this didn't take out Vince 2bqhfamalamadingdong
Scott Anthony aka Raven
I use to watch this on espn I believe it was fall of 91 I started to watch.
I think it was 2 half hour shows in a row. It was on Monday - Friday right after school! It was a cool alternative.
It was a great after school show. As you're winding down, and your parents haven't come home from work yet.
My old neighbor in FtWorth was Wild Bill nephew. I used to sit front seats. GWF was awesome.
If you really want the full story, subscribe to the Patreon of the podcast Between the Sheets. They did two long episodes on the history of the promotion.
These are great! Any plans on a documentary about the Ron Fuller territories: Southeastern/Continental Championship Wrestling?
Wish granted: ruclips.net/video/Y6qW2klW3mI/видео.html
GWF was far from the worst promotions, they were one of the best promotions in the 90s in my opinion. They were on par with WCW, ECW and much better than WWE in my opinion.
I grew up in Idaho so we only all star and Portland wrestling and then wwf came out but I love seeing the beginnings of pro wrestling
Can't believe Vince sued them for using Global.
Cmon dude, it's VInce ,are you really surprised?
Mainly just to run up their costs. Common trick for big companies in the market. Because as a percentage of revenue the big company can easily afford it while the small one can't.
Buff Bagwell aka the "Handsome Stranger" Boy! I loved that promotion!
I would watch this every day the second I would come home. I was amazed by this company as I was in 6th grade and had a tv in my room for the first time. The GWF was terrible but it sure was fun.
It’s really a shame the GWF couldn’t keep it Goin longer but but when you hear the backstory of what was supposed to happen the guy that started the company, Jo supposedly fell for some scheme from someone from Nigeria and he really thought he was going to get $30 million to start the GWF. He was under the impression he was going to get some of the top wrestlers in the world to be working there but then Jo ended up getting embarrassed because of everything. I do remember seeing this on ESPN though back in the day. It did give many guys there start in the pro wrestling world. This was the territory that were the first places wrestlers like X-pac, Buff Bagwell and Harlem Heat were seen. I do think wrestling was better when we had the two national companies and smaller territories because while everyone was watching WWF and WCW The territories like GWF, Smoky Mountain Wrestling and USWA Replaces a wrestler could get a couple years of experience working one or all three companies so by the time they had a tryout with one of the big two companies they had some experience under their belt. That’s One of the biggest problems today is because guys don’t have anywhere to work and everyone’s just backyard wrestlers that know how to do moves but don’t know what working means.
The GWF was the second pro wrestling promotion I watched as a kid. The WWF was the first.
I like these original wrestling documentaries.
GWF proved that the wrestling boom as flavour du jour was over .This promotion had a lot going for it .
Used to run home every day after school to watch this on ESPN at 4pm
I remember as a kid I couldn't sleep sometimes and I'd wake up early like 4am on a Saturday morning and the GWF would be on ESPN. I grew up in Southeast Los Angeles and loved the patriot..lol. ESPN had a lot weird shit on in the early 90's..(Outdoor professional rollerblade hockey) LOL!!
Thanks for the video.
I loved the GWF,and I always thought "The Cartel" was a great name for a faction aka a stable
Awesome job
Thanks from France
Kerry ended up facing the real angel of death. Warrior didnt show, no surprise there
I watched it on a syndicated station on Saturday mornings.
I used to watch this in the summer when we got cable.
I have never heard of this promotion but they had a good roster
It's crazy we use to get this in NJ on ESPN
Oh wow the ultimate no-showed. why is that not surprising.
Never knew how much of an impact, the lone star state, had on professional wrestling. 😊
Jim Garvin went to The NWA PRO WRESTLING
He now a pilot
I never thought global wrestling federation was krap it seemed to me like a decent promotion to me 👍🤓👍
Another great wrestling company that would be great in this era
What match was shown at the beginning of the first highlander movie i think it was the freebirds vs the von erichs maybe the match mentioned here in this video
What is with the connection with IceT?
Reupload?
I think this is the complete documentary. The first part was only 4 or 5 minutes
I can't believe Warrior no-showed a fucking memorial card
I absolutely love these documentaries. So happy that you did this one and as always great job. I think the next promotion you should do is FMW (Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling). Oh and David Webb is a white dude btw lol. Great Video.
Fmw was partners with ECW for a while
That's not David Webb....
dr dre or clintion going bust you for copyright infringment
And one of the weirdest gimmicks was the "psychiatrist" who was actually a political science professor at UT-Arlington.
Watched everyday
Do you think ESPN would get pro wrestling again?
nah
That was way to o short😔
What was name of promotion Jerry Jarrett took over after wccw went broke
Holy out of his league on the wedding photo
Jim Hellwog no showed an event? No way!
Thought the group with Cactus Jack was called Devastion Inc.
That was WCCW with Skandor Akbar!.
I thought Akbar was in GWF as well tho
Anyone knows what wrestling programs Espn Classics used to air around March 2009?
It might have been wccw
OR A.W.A
Herb Abrams UWF was also aired around that time.
Kerry von Erich vs angel of death ?
Was this just read directly from Wikipedia?
Who was the Patriot?
Originally it was Del Wilkes but the gimmick currently is used by Tom Brandi.
Apparently when the GWF folded no one wanted to renew or keep the trademark to any of the gimmick wrestlers. Several of the gwf guys including the Viper,Doug Gilbert [Dark Patriot] Del Wilkes were legally allowed to use it in either independent or other pro companies. GWF\Max Andrews trademarked the characters\gimmicks while GWF was in operation, but not afterwards.
Met my best friend at that promotion. The great witch doctor Baboose.
Who was the geek character in GWF (looked and probably acted like Jameison in the WWF)?
I remember that guy! I think he hung out with Doctor Dietrich? Seems like he wanted to be a manager, like Jim Cornette, but made a failed attempt at it? That was back when nerds were all the rage!
@@impalaman9707 Sebastian though I haven't specifically found an episode with him in it, sadly. I remember him being a Gary Hart flunky for some reason.
@@chall6761 I really had to scrounge to find him. Here he is actually making a feeble attempt at wrestling at the highly inflated billed weight of 190--he might have been that big if he stuffed a couple of pillows in his outfit--I don't think Mike Von Erich or Sam Houston were even that big: ruclips.net/video/ldl2EIp6bX8/видео.html
Didn't wccw s Ken mantel who also was part of this promotion.
1st time i saw Harlem heat and 123 kid was on GWF and some guy named Gaylord lol
I like the history
That was good. Never knew what promotion billed that gawd awful bunji match until now. It always comes up on worst matches ever lists lol
After school I remember I thought The Patriot could be Sting
How does an overweight guy like Joe Pedicino end up with Bonnie Blackstone? Well, I guess it shows there's hope for all of us.
RIP GWF
they had a good roster
Another great video my guy thanks and shot out from Knoxville Tennessee where we like our ICE TEA with Coco 😂😂😂😂
They use to come on ESPN
Lost my religion it’s actually pretty good song to hear. I know that has nothing to do what’s the videos about.
Bruh! Hole up! Did he said Kerry Von Eric was supposed to wrestler The Angel Of Death??? But he died? Wtf?
Good video
"the GWF wasn't as good
as the WCCW but
they tried to keep wrestling going
in Texas and Oklahoma
they had some pretty good wrestlers
in their roster,
they also gave up & coming wrestlers
a chance to break in to the
sport and had a great roster
of top stars from the old
WCCW,as well as veteran wrestlers
from other areas
that were already stars
in their own right
and many semi retired veteran wrestlers
not apart of any promotions at the time
not great but better than what they have now
WWE and Impact are just to boring,thanks."-😎🇺🇸🇪🇪🇬🇧🇧🇼.
I actually liked the GWF use to watch it then it wasn't around anymore
Thats me in the cornerrrrrr
Warrior no showed? How unexpected 🤣
They didn’t mention Sean Waltman as the Lightning Kid
They did
What POS Vince suing little promotion for the most bs reason...like just bc they have a similar word in their name
Not See-sill Fielder, Seh-sol Fielder.
You really should do episodes on WCW ECW and the UWF herb Abrams company not Bill Waters
Who's Bill Waters?
Bill Watts not waters
Untold story but still didn't say why it folded
Anyone else think the background music sounds like losing my religion?
I thought GWF was originally by Overton family, not Overstreet.
I hear R.E.M.
Losing my religion 😍👍
The patriot the best
This wrestling promotion was fucking ATROCIOUS = GWF
They never video rites to wwe
Bronco Loo-bitch ...Not Lubb- itch
Look like Vice stole your concept
My cousin and I used to call it the Garbage Wrestling Federation. In hindsight, that's a bit off lol.
Never said why it failed
Lot old wccw talent was here
