Interesting. I've been live streaming mixes on Facebook, but can only get about 30 minutes in before it's pulled. Tried Twitch but no audience, even with sharing the link. I've used Mixcloud to post mixes, and this has promise, just hope there is something coming that can post on my Facebook page when I'm live on Mixcloud automatically or something. I also don't like that it's subscription, but I get it. Oh also it looks like the links on your article are messed up, the video one points to the audio article. Just an FYI so you can get those pointed correctly - thanks Phil!
Best-case scenario is if Mixcloud Live could start a live stream on your Facebook page with just a black screen and a graphic saying something like "live now at mixcloud.com/live/name" - that would save me from having to pay for both Mixcloud and restream just to notify my followers to go to Mixcloud.
Instead of just posting a link, the best way to get around the Facebook algorithm is to send a separate stream to Facebook Live (since Facebook Live gets top ranking in the algorithm) with the audio ducked. Overlay the video with a card that says something like "For the full experience, head over to (Twitch link)". I've also had success by using Facebook Events to drive traffic to my Twitch broadcasts. A similar tactic would probably work well with Mixcloud.
So glad Mixcloud are doing this! Was asking for ages haha. 👍👍👍just ordered my interface....just got to look at the monthly subscription as a license to stream legally...but yes we need to back mixcloud on this about time someone made this move for sure...
This is great, I've been using Mixcloud for a while to post mixes, so it's really nice that they have a livestream service now. Although I will say Twitch is really good about not taking your livestream down in the middle too.
Finally a way to play without having to worry about playing certain songs or certain labels. Sometimes my RUclips mixes are removed for seconds of audio. Forcing me to upload with muted portions or with trimming full clips out of my mixes.
Same here and is very left me very frustrated. Been a member of Mixcloud for some years, but not many play backs on my uploads, so hope that a video livestream might bump up numbers of views, let's see what happens.
Love it... and will definitely try it with OBS. One down side I find, is, I am using Zoom right now, and what I find awesome is my crowd knows each other, and interact, cause you can see other people dancing. THis is awesome for me, because I can still READ the crowd as opposed to other streaming platforms, without having to read the chats. Also other people get hyped by those they see dancing online, so it is truly a virtual club feel. I am not sure that at this point my audience will want to switch to just seeing me dj.

$180 a year. When I compare that price to how much value and repeat usage I get from Spotify. It feels a little expensive. I wonder what size audience you would need in monetization to recoup that investment?
You're paying for a Mixcloud sub, not specifically for live. You're also contributing towards the artists who make the music you play. So worth looking at it from that angle, too, Mark.

Coming from your other video about the Roland aerocaster… im very curious if you are able to put the streaming key of mixcloud in to the software of the aerocaster… thus performing a live stream using my two iPads … ons for thé aerocaster one to run djay app( with a controller hooked up to the aerocaster … Sorry for the eloborate and confusing question😂
Are you suggesting type out a playlist or are you saying due to the licensing agreement mixcloud has that would not be necessary? Advise please. Thanks
Sounds promising, but my concern would be that Mixcloud doesn't really have much of an audience on it, other than DJ's, whereas lots of people are on Twitch for gaming and other things (it even has an app for XBox and Playstaion). Twitch also has multiple ways of monetising your stream and the developers of Twitch are apparently working to improve that side of things further. Realistically, the monetisation is only relevant for people who actually can get an audience (most probably don't), but having to pay a monthly fee for Mixcloud to potentially DJ to the same 15 people I play to on Twitch isn't massively appealing at the moment.
Understandable, when/if they crack down on streaming DJ sets on Twitch (which is against their policies) people will start to see the value in this kind of service more
Great video - Thank for that and lovely to see you supporting the underdog! Question: My followers are on Facebook (business page) and I know I will struggle massively bringing people across... 1) Can you use the Mixcloud Stream Key on FB Live and be protected from take downs/muting? 2) Re recording the set (I do community 'Lockdown Discos' bringing my local estates together in this tough time), but many people watch back the videos (that used to live in my town and now live abroad) - How do you suggest recording the live set, video and audio? Thanks a million, I really appreciate it.
Thanks for the review. What broadcasting software would you recommend if using an iPad or iPhone to broadcast. I note you use ecamm live but it’s not compatible with iOS. I’m using an iRig Stream with my iPad. Thanks Simon
This is great news! Thanks for the info Phil! I've just managed to get a TRS to TRRS cable for my phone to get decent audio quality for Facebook live and Instagram streams. Looks like I'm going to have to venture into OBS for this though. Would it be possible to use my phone as a webcam with OBS rather than having to buy a dedicated camera? 🤔
Thanks I never thought of Mixcloud doing live stream, live, I have started uploading my mixes to mix cloud & I found this tutorial helpful & I found it funny when you used the countdown clock ⏰
I really like your video! It was very informative. I don't have a MixCloud account but based on this tutorial I might just create one. My only question is there any way to have multiple users on this MixCloud Live. Similar to like Instagram where you can invite people.
Yes, but you'd have to do it within your broadcast software, you can't do it as a feature of Mixcloud Live itself. For instance, we often have Skype guests via our choice of broadcast software (Ecamm Live) on our shows.
Digital DJ Tips Okay that make sense! Thank you very much for the response! And okay do you know any good services where you can start you’re own radio station for free?
Digital DJ Tips okay! Is MixCloud go for creating longer audio shows where this is guests. What are other options for doing like a radio shows similar.
No, it's a much-needed feature. But it would mean Mixcloud getting involved in video archiving, which would be a departure for an audio platform. Maybe they will allow archiving of the audio segment of broadcasts, but that would only make sense for some types of content.
Awesome Video‼️this platform should only be for DJ's that are starting their way up the latter but NOT for Big name DJ'S cuz Big Name DJ's just end up TAKING AWAY the audience members from everyone else. Plus we all know that Big name DJ'S Only think about themselves, they could care less about the ones who are barley starting . . .IMO
So big names shouldn't be allowed on the platform because they're more popular? Where to draw the line? lol Bit unfair to say none of them care as well without any real way of proving it
Thanks for this video.. Any advice on why the live stream isn't coming on. Using OBS on Mac, the feed is in OBS but even after waiting 20 mins or so the feed has not shown in mixcloud 🤔 Any advice would be appreciated

I know that some Dj's are giving a Negative reviews on MixCloud due to a Paid Membership, but Honestly thats a small token to pay in order for Mixcloud to afford royalties so we can have our mix session's without any takedowns or copyrights .
Some people don't want to pay for anything I guess.
Coming from your other video about the Roland aerocaster… im very curious if you are able to put the streaming key of mixcloud in to the software of the aerocaster… thus performing a live stream using my two iPads … ons for thé aerocaster one to run djay app( with a controller hooked up to the aerocaster …
Sorry for the eloborate and confusing question😂
Don't see why not
Are you suggesting type out a playlist or are you saying due to the licensing agreement mixcloud has that would not be necessary?
Understandable, when/if they crack down on streaming DJ sets on Twitch (which is against their policies) people will start to see the value in this kind of service more
Countdown clock, love it :D
Thanks for watching :)
Very interesting! I will try it for sure!
Cool!
perfect tutorial. thanks all
Thanks William!
Love the countdown music :)
Thanks! :)
Sounds good cant wait to try it
Awesome :)
Love this video thanks brother 11
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video - Thank for that and lovely to see you supporting the underdog!
1) No 2) You should be able to record it within your streaming software :)
Thank you my friend.
Thank you too
No info about video quality ?
Only 720p as facebook ?
No mixcloud members can connect to the stream and comment without need to be register ?
No, they haven't released that, it's 16:9 and will be 720 min. Anyone can watch, you need to be a Mixcloud member (free will do) to comment currently.
Thanks for the review. What broadcasting software would you recommend if using an iPad or iPhone to broadcast. I note you use ecamm live but it’s not compatible with iOS. I’m using an iRig Stream with my iPad. Thanks Simon
We just published a video on this very subject Simon: ruclips.net/video/oPOqIz_5ods/видео.html
Yes, it is. Lots of videos on YT will show you how.
Where are you streaming from? What device, how to you get your computer up there? 🤔🤔🤔🤔😫
Thanks I never thought of Mixcloud doing live stream, live, I have started uploading my mixes to mix cloud & I found this tutorial helpful & I found it funny when you used the countdown clock ⏰
Glad you found it informative and fun Dan!
Thanks for this phill 👊🏼
No problem
Frickin Gr8 Job!!!!
Thanks!
Phil, I'm using a controller, DDJ SZ
Cool :)
is great job from mixcloud thank you
Thanks for watching!
It would be nice if they create their own live app and take out the middle man
So if he had kept it on twitch before starting the live, would he have streamed on Twitch?
Not sure on any where it's free
Digital DJ Tips okay! Is MixCloud go for creating longer audio shows where this is guests. What are other options for doing like a radio shows similar.
Hi , thank you for the information on mixcloud . Is the ability to chat with guests available?
Yes!
Good information, looks promising! Many thanks!
You're welcome.
I am def gonna try this.
Let us know how you get on!
Hey phil is there any tutorial videos on how to set up ecamm live for beginners
Check their website Colin :)
No archiving? That doesn't sound great tbh, I hope that changes in the future. But this is a step in the right direction.
No, it's a much-needed feature. But it would mean Mixcloud getting involved in video archiving, which would be a departure for an audio platform. Maybe they will allow archiving of the audio segment of broadcasts, but that would only make sense for some types of content.
You can archive audio only video is coming
Awesome Video‼️this platform should only be for DJ's that are starting their way up the latter but NOT for Big name DJ'S cuz Big Name DJ's just end up TAKING AWAY the audience members from everyone else. Plus we all know that Big name DJ'S Only think about themselves, they could care less about the ones who are barley starting . . .IMO
So big names shouldn't be allowed on the platform because they're more popular? Where to draw the line? lol Bit unfair to say none of them care as well without any real way of proving it
Mixcloud does offer to publish the mix now, but sound only.
Yep it does :)
Is it legal if you for example like me live in another country that the UK. Im living in Denmark ? :) THX for great videoes by the way.
Should be yes :)
Tell me please, can i share Mixcloud Live Dj Set Streaming on RUclips?
Thanks in advance.
We use Restream, that allows you to send your stream to multiple platforms at the same time :)
Thank you so much for your help 🙏🙏🙏
No problem!
Thank you Phil!
You're welcome Cheryl!
Thanks for this video.. Any advice on why the live stream isn't coming on. Using OBS on Mac, the feed is in OBS but even after waiting 20 mins or so the feed has not shown in mixcloud 🤔
Any advice would be appreciated
Sorry, from what you've shared it's hard to say why.
Hello, Thank you for the news and the review, I really apreciate it!! :) So if I understood well, first, you can stream but not save the show to watch it later on mixcloud? And I have another question, when you are streaming on mixcloud and you share the linnk on your facebook page, what do you see? I mean, you just see the link or you are able to watch the show from facebook. thanks a lot and Regards from Spain :)
No you can't save it but they're working on that, it would just be a link to the show
How do you stream on Mixcloud with just an iPad?
Hello mate, love your videos however I'm getting no connection messages my vids stream vids and it was working great but not sure how to get around it.
Hard to diagnose form what you've said there, unfortunately.
Can you address the issues Mixcloud has with customer support ; not having sufficient info about how to link with FB pages and providing a variety of payment methods?
glad i found this video/tutorial. I gave a question though, i am having trouble getting audio on my live streams. Did a test but nothing. Followed all the steps. Now i am using windows, and ddj-400. When i set upa source for audio input capture it DDJ-400 does not show up. Onlt default and microphone. Ami doing something wrong or am i missing something with either my laptop or maybew software? Help please :(
You need to use a utility to make your controller sound available to your software, like this: jackaudio.org/
@@digitaldjtips awesome! are there any other steps that i need to do to get audio working? or any other steps in general?
Check out our articles at www.digitaldjtips.com/tag/dj-livestreaming - we've covered the topic in a lot of detail ;)
Thank you for that link. I still could not find the right solution for my issue. The jack audio connection failed to start. Or I probably don’t know how to operate jack program.
Righteous.
