For your sink you could've sanded it smooth and then used baking soda and superglue. That would be a permanent repair.

Remember that if you cut a nut of a bolt you can also cut it vertically cutting the nut in half leaving the bolt thus far intact that it can stil receive another nut on the split threat, works best with a nice thin 1mm stainless cutting disc and discs live longer slicing the top surface instead of constantly cutting into the sharp edges.
So don’t dig in the disc, ride it on top and let the heat work in your advantage.
The leaf chest, grass nose and stick bum ducks comment was funny by the way, had me laughing.

I adore your videos! I'm from Western North Carolina in the U.S. , which is the mountains, and it is so surprising to me how similar it is to where you are in England. I have never had the opportunity to go there, I hope you have a chance to come this way one day!
It gets hot like that a few days in August and we live in the creeks to cool off as most are underground spring fed, clean, clear and stay about 60 degrees. Heaven on a hot day! Benny would love it, they're full of trout, lol! Fresh fish and chips for the taking.
I so enjoy seeing Benny's hobbies and music, but I would love to see more of Emily's artwork and creativity as well. You must be a smashing good artist to make a living for two with it. Cheers!

You pair are just fantastic together doing these beautiful canal videos. Being a more mature boater of almost 40 years now. I really enjoy watching you both. Funny I had a similar accident with my bathroom sink. Filled the hole with gb pro it's a great product it's like a rubber sealant that can handle water so great for a boater. It lasted until I found a cheap replacement. Cratch covers are not for me too many bumps on the head but they do give more dry storage space.

Hi Ben & Emily: I'm catching up with some of your earlier episodes. I can certainly empathize with your heat wave, as we've had some in Seattle, WA USA with temperatures in the 30s and low 40s. I wrap an ice pack in a towel and sleep with it or place it beneath my legs on a footstool to cool off. Alan's cooling pad sounds similar to my ice pack. That's great you had a cool river to take a refreshing dip nearby. Too bad you didn't have a thunderstorm, as it usually cools things down a bit. Jenny

    Just a tip.
Whenever you peg down your boat make sure you place your verticale peg right behind a horizontal obstruction.
Doesn’t matter if it a tree root or a concrete ledge.
The closer the direction of pulling comes towards ninety degrees the sturdier the pegs becomes, being pulled sideways is the strongest.
Over or under ninety degrees gives upwards pressure if the contact points of the peg is below the interacting surface.

Screw in Ground Anchors when you are in soft ground. They are tiny versions of the ones used to hold mooring balls in place. Really hard to pull out without unscrewing them.

Repair the sink with some white epoxy if that's a china sink. Put tape underneath when you do the repair. The repair adds character! I'm enjoying your videos and the interaction you two have.

2:00 There are actually nut splitters for those kinds of jobs. They aren't expensive and you might not need them often (if all is well), but it's one of those tools that if you do need it they are that lifesaver type of tool for in the toolbox. Just a tip! 😉

@@BenandEmily My pleasure. Do you know what I also love to collect and use? Mini tools... like keychain size locking pliers, tiny 10mm adjustable spanner I use as a keychain, tiny ratchet like in the Wera Tool-Check Plus set.
Especially had to use them when I renovated my tiny Predom glasfiber caravan. The ones James May like to use to create air ships. 😉
They are extremely handy for cramped spaces, and don't take up a lot of space either. So I take them with me on holidays as well.

One thing you two can do to fix your restroom sank is it gets them a proxy and makes the two parts together and get some white paint and makes that in there with it and put some date underneath the sink so will not leak out and just put the proxy solution in the hole .

@@BenandEmily There are many brands of 'steel filled epoxies' you can get at any hardware store. You can also get enamel paints used for touching up chips in sinks and tubs, I'd suggest a bit of fibreglass tape under the hole, the epoxy in the hole and over the area of the scorch (if it's deep enough) and smoothed as nicely as possible. Once the epoxy sets, touch up with the paint. I checked local prices here in Canada, it shouldn't cost more than £15 or so and you'd be left with enough to fix another 10 incense-idents, at least.

A bit late now from Me, but you didn't need a new washbasin (sinks are in kitchens).
All that was needed was Car Body Filler (about £8 from Toolstation).
Apply LOADS underneath first to create a patch.
Once that's solid then overfill from above.
Once that's solid then sand smooth and even.
Then apply acrylic spray to seal.
    Job done.

I agree with other comments... Repair rather than replace the sink. I think there is some kind of Japanese mending approach where you make a point of not hiding the repair but make it obvious by using a different colour. One thing you might be able to use is repair stuff called Sugru?

I once had an incense stick lit, but I extinguished it before leaving the room (I thought). Hours later I returned and the room was filled with smoke. The incense had fallen on a cotton mattress, that was now fully smoldering. It could have burned the whole house down. You were lucky too. My take away: Always have a metal bowl under an incense stick.

You can fix the sink with glass fibre repair kit from halfords. Its the stuff used for repairing holes on cars. You would apply it from the reverse. It wouldn't be pretty, but it would be watertight. You need to setup a Patreon account to help you channel

I'd put gaffer tape under the burned sink hole to back up the sealant, should hold ok. Incense is extremely hot, it's quite dangerous. Phoebe set fire to the flat in Friends with incense, not to be recommended really.
I've had to sew a little cat thingy over a crispy hole I burned into my purple fleece jacket sleeve when I forgot the incense was on the table.
