If you are new here, hello! We're Ben (aka Benny) and Emily! We live on our 56 foot narrow boat as full time continuous cruisers with our cat Alan 🌟
Follow us along to see our adventures, ups, downs, mishaps and lots of boating about!
For your sink you could've sanded it smooth and then used baking soda and superglue. That would be a permanent repair.
❤❤❤ the private little river to cool off in with such clear water and picturesque environment. Thoroughly enjoying your adventures ❤
Remember that if you cut a nut of a bolt you can also cut it vertically cutting the nut in half leaving the bolt thus far intact that it can stil receive another nut on the split threat, works best with a nice thin 1mm stainless cutting disc and discs live longer slicing the top surface instead of constantly cutting into the sharp edges.
So don’t dig in the disc, ride it on top and let the heat work in your advantage.
The leaf chest, grass nose and stick bum ducks comment was funny by the way, had me laughing.
Really liked the music in this one, especially the duck-quack riff.
Nick.
I adore your videos! I'm from Western North Carolina in the U.S. , which is the mountains, and it is so surprising to me how similar it is to where you are in England. I have never had the opportunity to go there, I hope you have a chance to come this way one day!
It gets hot like that a few days in August and we live in the creeks to cool off as most are underground spring fed, clean, clear and stay about 60 degrees. Heaven on a hot day! Benny would love it, they're full of trout, lol! Fresh fish and chips for the taking.
I so enjoy seeing Benny's hobbies and music, but I would love to see more of Emily's artwork and creativity as well. You must be a smashing good artist to make a living for two with it. Cheers!
Greetings from Arizona, USA. I admire your pluck in the face of such intense heat. Glad you survived.
Stick bum.... so funny😂
You two are so good at this, so natural in front of the camera. Now I've got to wait a whole week for the next episode! Love to Alan.
Thanks for watching, we are enjoying it so far 😊 Alan sends her love back!😺
Another lovely vlog. That water looked so inviting. Naming the duck family cracked me up. I hope “stick bum” soon becomes “stick free” duck. 🦆😁
Yes they all appeared quite out of nowhere hehe. We think 'stick bum' did lose the stick before we left. Thank you for watching 😊
those pet veggies are so cute
This was the first vid that POPPED UP A FEW WEEKS AGO..WHAT DID I DO WITHOUT YOU 3 BEFORE...XXX LOVE FROM WELSH UP A BIG MOUNTAIN IN TURKIYE...
I like the music on this video a lot.
Love the video ❤. So nice to share your everyday experiences of going river and how you are in the boat etc …
A little bit of chaos every week - hehe! Surely somehow the sink could be patched. You guys are a couple of sweet peas
Yes there seems to be hehe.. We are thinking we might just replace it... Thanks so much, that's lovely of you to say 😊
Loved this vlog, the river looked so refreshing! You are now my favourite canal boat vloggers, I look forward to every episode. Take care you three, another heatwave is due next week. X
Thanks so much Shirley, thats really lovely! Very happy you're enjoying our vlogs 😊 We'll have to find a very shaded spot for the next few days! Thanks again, Ben and Emily x
The quality of your videos is truly exceptional. Plus the natural chemistry is quite nice. Thanks for letting us peep in on your world. Feeling like a voyeur LOL. Keep up the good work! Love from Oregon.
Absolutely fantastic. It has hit 40% here in Japan for the last 8 weeks! I sweat like a molester in a park,,,,, my wife, slightly perspires,,,,, The Japanese dont sweat like us,,,,,,,, man, even after 20 years,,,,I cannot get used to a Japanese summer. It isn't only hot,,,,,, but so bloody humid!! I have to get to a gig,,,,,,, but saw your video,,,and waited. We have plenty of time. Again, thank you so much. We really enjoyed that!!
Hi Ian wow yeah that sounds quite extreme heat! Yeah I guess you'd expect to acclimatise but maybe not hehe.Aw thank you so much for watching another!
@@BenandEmily No, thank you. We are enjoying your travels!
Love watching you and finding about narrow boat in a canal
You channel is brilliant and keep cool as much as you can and keep up the good work best wishes and I'm planing to live on a narrowboat one day when i can and also have a lovely day 😊
You don't need a new sink Emily, there's many patches and caulks on the market that are meant for exactly that! You need a reminder every day to start your day not to play with fire young lady!
i found this channel yesterday and am absolutely in love with the dynamic you guys have, alan is bloody adorable and after umming and ahhing for a few years about buying a boat, a little peek into your way of life is definitely helping me along in my decision!
Glad you enjoyed it! Yes Alan is a sweety isn't she 😊 Good luck on your boat search, hope you can get going with boat living soon!
Benny had the same reaction I would have about the sink. Good man. Shake that little problem off and keep a smile on the face.
😆
A great episode. Enjoyed it very much. Take care and stay cool (but be careful with burny things!).
Thanks so much William 😊
Charming, unique and hardy people. Only seeing my 3rd vlog and have signed up for more. Thank you and happy cruising. We owned a large vacation houseboat for years and used it year round. Georgia USA
Thank you so much! 😊
The homemade music really adds so much to each episode, Benny is talented!
Thank you Gillian, I have been enjoying the challenge, and creating tracks in a style I wouldn't usually write in.. It's great to see and hear what an atmosphere they can add to our travels!
You pair and your dry humour make me laugh ,I think you should have a slot on TV,you make even the hardest land lovers want to sell up and buy a narrow boat ⛵🌊 best wishes
Regards from Hereford
Thanks Michael, we are having fun with these videos! Hey well boating around is a good way to get about hehe. Thanks for watching all the best.
This is why I also want to live on the water...been dreaming about it for ages; this year I can finally afford to do so...growing my own veg, the company of a sweet cat and ducks in nature! Thanks guys for making me smile today with your descriptions of the local fauna...😌🙏😍
Ace to hear and good luck with it, thanks for watching our video! 🙂
Nice having a river to cool off and I would have taken a picnic and spent the day in the shade. It's been hot here in Idaho with the one high of 111 degrees F. Thanks to AC life is good. Enjoy your summer.
That sounds lovely, thanks for watching Jim 😊
You pair are just fantastic together doing these beautiful canal videos. Being a more mature boater of almost 40 years now. I really enjoy watching you both. Funny I had a similar accident with my bathroom sink. Filled the hole with gb pro it's a great product it's like a rubber sealant that can handle water so great for a boater. It lasted until I found a cheap replacement. Cratch covers are not for me too many bumps on the head but they do give more dry storage space.
Hello! Thank you so much, thats really lovely to hear 😊 So happy to hear you are enjoying the videos. That gb pro sounds great! we will definitely have a look at it, thank you. The cratch is so brilliant for the extra room, its also high enough for me to stand under but i think Benny might be the one bumping his head! Thanks again, all the best Emily and Benny 🙂
You guys are such a hoot. You both look, sound like and act like you just stepped out of the 70's. Great boat.....would love to live in one.
Loving your vlogs. Keep them coming. x
Glad you like them and thanks for watching 🙂
Hi Ben & Emily: I'm catching up with some of your earlier episodes. I can certainly empathize with your heat wave, as we've had some in Seattle, WA USA with temperatures in the 30s and low 40s. I wrap an ice pack in a towel and sleep with it or place it beneath my legs on a footstool to cool off. Alan's cooling pad sounds similar to my ice pack. That's great you had a cool river to take a refreshing dip nearby. Too bad you didn't have a thunderstorm, as it usually cools things down a bit. Jenny
Great video as always, I am with you Emily , I hate the heat 🥵
Thanks so much! Yeah, it was so hot, we've found some proper shade for this weeks heat! :)
We enjoyed your vlog and you put your own stamp on keeping cool hmmm lettuce in that amount not for me lol both tc now we look forward to the next one Ann and David 😉👍
Thanks for watching! So happy to hear you enjoyed the vlog :D All the best, Ben and Emily
Just to cheer you up, Water firms discharged raw sewerage into English Rivers 400,000 times over 2019/20…. Add to that the outfall from farming… always remember to not drink it and avoid going in with any skin cuts etc 👍🏻
Just watched 4 episodes back to back. Instantly obsessed with you guys 🤣 just sent the link for your channel to my best friend, She and her partner are currently in the process of buying a narrowboat to live on, keep up the good work 👌🏾
Ah, there was Emily worried about the damage to the sink, and Benny says you'll have to make that into art or something , I thought you'd blown a hole in the wall or something....that's the best way to deal with these things!
You coped so well with the heatwave on a boat - enjoyed your video - loved the ducks. 🦆🦆
Thanks Wendy! 🙂 x
The worst thing on the boat is?........."Have you eaten all the tiramasu?".......Brilliant!
Stick bum lol you guys are funny and cute lol thks
I was tied to a post boat came past and ripped the post out marvelous
Thank you🙏✝️🙏
The RUclips algorithm bought me to your channel. You guys are so chilled…loved this video so I’m subscribed.
Thanks so much! 😊
Solar attic fan!
Hello You Three - greetings from Poland.
I've now finished the back-catalogue of your videos. The three of you are so natural in front of the camera. A fabulous video.
Sorry about the sink but accidents happen. Perhaps "the mend" will hold and you won't need to change the sink.
The swimming sessions looked lovely and cooling. My favoutite canal vloggers by a mile. Love it! Thanks so very much
I see 9703 subscribers - congratulations!
You are very kind to say such lovely thing Michael, we really appreciate it. We are enjoying making these videos and you will be glad to know, there's more on the way! Including a new one tomorrow 😊 All the best, Ben, Emily and Alan.
Never apologies for crocs! Crocs are life! …another great vid. Rachel/life on Lunas
I love mine, just know what some people think 😆 Thank you Rachel! x
My novae, you two are pretty! I sincerely wish All the best for you. Please realize the wonderful value you've found in each other. You are lovely together. Thanks for vloggin'
Thank you for the lovely comment Jake 😊
You had seed on those dead plants :-)
Weave started binge watching now from # 1 .after bouncing around the all over watching everything Narrowboating. I have question how long do they leave these sunken and partly sunken Boats in the canal you can bet if the government could make a buck of those removals they would be is there even any law pertaining to this mess. Great chanal we love it .
Lovely as usual. My daughter just got back from spending the summer in the U.K. and even though we live in an extremely hot and humid environment she said there were days that it was just miserable because at least here things are built with keeping cool in mind.
Hi Chance, thanks for watching 😊 Yes in the UK they are not prepared for extremes of temperature, sun or snow!
Lovely to see the fashionista ducks of Stone. I think fish head duck was head hunted by Valentino and currently struts the cat walks of Milan. I don’t think the Stone ducks would accept fish head back now, especially stick bum who was annoyed fish head got the contract. Hehe 😉.
Great video guys, thank you
hahaha this is a very imaginative comment, absolutely brilliant. I think you have it exactly right there!!! 😂 Thanks so much for watching 😊
thank you ,your programme was entertaining . where we reside its often over 30 c with high humidity , we can relate . cheers
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed the video 🙂 wow yeah that is warm if its like that most of the time! Is that in the US? Benny loves the heat but i'm better if its a bit cooler! All the best, Ben and Emily
@@BenandEmily yes up in the n.e. we get high temps and high humidity, may, june, july, aug. and even sept. the humidity is equal to high winds in winter on very cold days, wind chill factor is brutal. thank you for sharing your n/b travels we enjoy them . cheers
That sound like extreme weather for you, wow! Thanks for watching 🙂
Very hot here in North Cyprus 40's..gets humid.
Enjoying your video especially cooling in the river, looks great.
Just had a 30 second cold shower befor it turns hot....😊
Wow sounds very warm! Thanks for watching 😊
Wearing your Crocs in the river was a sensible thing to do. I do hope you enjoyed a little bit of an Australian Summer. Its like that all the time here during our Summers. Thank you for a very entertaining vlog. I love your stuff. Cheers
They did protect Emily's feet in the water nicely there. We do have swim shoes but have misplaced them!
Aah your video quality is so good now! Well done on great content!
Thanks, yes we finally figured out the HD...!
New to your channel. Really enjoying them.
Yeah we’ve been through Stone a few times on way to Stoke, when we were liveaboards ten years ago. Oh poor Rebekah, she’s so neglected!!
Hiya, great video.. You're naturals.. I always catch a giggle. Aah the sink story 🤦🏼♀️ I did the same on top of my brand new fridge 😏😄🤦🏼♀️.. my first reaction was the same as Bennie's.. you'll have to do some art on it to match it up 😄😄.. that cool water looked so inviting and such pretty surrounds.. great music.. have a fab week.. catch you on the next one.. love to Allen 🦆🐈🍉🧄🍞🪔🪕🏞️
Thanks so much Che 😊 Yeah we love those incense but they do carry repercussions 😊 Hope you have a great week too!
@@BenandEmily 😄 they sure do! I now make my own holders from clay and resin, to be a little more sturdy, stand straight up so they can't fall🙃 .. Njoy ✨💖✨
Ben suits his beard and it would look really cool if you both have one.
Just a tip.
Whenever you peg down your boat make sure you place your verticale peg right behind a horizontal obstruction.
Doesn’t matter if it a tree root or a concrete ledge.
The closer the direction of pulling comes towards ninety degrees the sturdier the pegs becomes, being pulled sideways is the strongest.
Over or under ninety degrees gives upwards pressure if the contact points of the peg is below the interacting surface.

Oh my Lord my stomach is killing me you have me in stitches stick bum leaf chest grass beak Fish head where on earth keep up the good boating live videos I love you guys I just found you this evening but I haven’t stopped watching all of your Vids keep it up xxx
Heheh thanks so much for watching! 😀
Damn I wish there'd been a river close enough to us during that heatwave! Great relief from the heat!
Loving watching you guys, you are an inspiration and seem to me to be such pleasant people. I am unsure of the logistics but if your barge ever travels Norfolk way then holla, would love to buy you a drink and say hello. Will keep enjoying watching your story.
Thanks so much Tony, such a lovely thing to say 😊 We are heading south atm but if we do that would be lovely! *edit Emily's told me the canal doesn't link to Norfolk, you have to navigate the Wash, which is open sea!
@@BenandEmily oh that's unforrunate, I had an idea that night be the case. Never the less keep being the fabulous people you are and I'll keep watching the journey.
Aw thankyou so much, we certainly will. You take care 🙂
you guys are so funny together. remember when that bread flew out the window. long time watcher first time subscriber.....
Thanks for subbing! Yes that was a funny moment! 😊
My Brother lives in Stone, a lovely old town with some cool history to its name. I'm new to your RUclips channel and its very enjoyable.👍😉
Stone is such a lovely place! Thanks for watching 😊
Love your vid, really made me laugh. I would recommend white milliput for your sink.
Hi Claire, thanks so much, very happy you enjoyed it. Thats a great idea! 😊Think a new sink is going to cost a bit!
for the sink repair , just use a 2pac epoxy resin glue, first cut a piece of cardboard, apply to underside with duct tape, mix and fill damage area with resin, leave to settle, paint over with enamel paint, wear marrigold gloves the resin is like like super glue, job done
Brilliant! Thanks so much for the tip, very much appreciated 🙂
what a dirty water !!!! Ichhhhh !!!!
If you mean the river, it was rather lovely. 😊
New subscriber here, really loved this video and looking forward to watching more, Roo 😊
Hey Roo thanks so much for watching 🙂
We left a candle burning on a TV. Furniture caught fire, entire house smoke damaged, most items replaced and house redecorated. Thank God for insurance companies and a kind, generous loss adjuster.
good content, enjoy the journey ....
Thank you 😊
I've been so lucky as to have found you!! Highest praises for you making your vlogs, and being genuinely lovely people. At risk of seeming pervy, ( not meant ), you are both beautiful, and Emily's legs are perfect....sorry
A cat AND a guitar?! I'm in! New subscriber!!
😁 Thanks for subbing
👍👍👍
You can cut chard back to stop it from going to seed. AKA bolted
Great series and love the info you give us all. Question for you re your washing machine, how much water does it use? Automatics seem to be designed to empty ones water tank into the canal (100 litres per was!!)
Screw in Ground Anchors when you are in soft ground. They are tiny versions of the ones used to hold mooring balls in place. Really hard to pull out without unscrewing them.
Repair the sink with some white epoxy if that's a china sink. Put tape underneath when you do the repair. The repair adds character! I'm enjoying your videos and the interaction you two have.
Thanks Charles, we are thinking to replace it but that's a good tip..! Thanks so much for watching 😊
Lynn here on Hubby's phone mines playing up 😏, Hi I'm a new subscriber , UpTo now we're Loving your style 😃🥰, Definitely Mosaic sink , it'd look FANTASTIC 😍, Go for it !!! Looking forward to catching up with your vlogs, have you been doing it long 🤔? Take Care you two xx 😃
Hiya Lynn, thanks so much, mosaic is a great idea! We have been doing you tube a month and a half, and have been on the boat just over a year. 😊
@@BenandEmily We're Loving your vlogs anyways , keep um coming 🤗🥰
Hi Emily to get rid of Noxious Niffs in the bathroom strike a safety match then blow it out ,Job Done. Cheers
Haha! Thanks!
💯🖖
That would have been so good in the water just cooling down.
2:00 There are actually nut splitters for those kinds of jobs. They aren't expensive and you might not need them often (if all is well), but it's one of those tools that if you do need it they are that lifesaver type of tool for in the toolbox. Just a tip! 😉
Ah ace! Thanks for the tip! We shall get one, yes boats seem to need those kind of one off tools all the time! 😊 haha
@@BenandEmily My pleasure. Do you know what I also love to collect and use? Mini tools... like keychain size locking pliers, tiny 10mm adjustable spanner I use as a keychain, tiny ratchet like in the Wera Tool-Check Plus set.
Especially had to use them when I renovated my tiny Predom glasfiber caravan. The ones James May like to use to create air ships. 😉
They are extremely handy for cramped spaces, and don't take up a lot of space either. So I take them with me on holidays as well.
How long are you doing Esty . I am from Ireland. I love your channel
We also had a lovely cat, sadly missed
One thing you two can do to fix your restroom sank is it gets them a proxy and makes the two parts together and get some white paint and makes that in there with it and put some date underneath the sink so will not leak out and just put the proxy solution in the hole .
Thanks for the tips! 🙂
@@BenandEmily There are many brands of 'steel filled epoxies' you can get at any hardware store. You can also get enamel paints used for touching up chips in sinks and tubs, I'd suggest a bit of fibreglass tape under the hole, the epoxy in the hole and over the area of the scorch (if it's deep enough) and smoothed as nicely as possible. Once the epoxy sets, touch up with the paint. I checked local prices here in Canada, it shouldn't cost more than £15 or so and you'd be left with enough to fix another 10 incense-idents, at least.
epoxy resin is what they mean.
That river looked very inviting. Cats usually love the heat, my cat sits in the hottest place, sometimes she's too hot to touch. Can you buy air conditioning for boats?
We have a portable air conditioning unit on our boat; but they are very power hungry.
Very nice!
Alan usually accidentally sits in the sun until the heat penetrates her fur and she quickly moves!
Just a suggestion with the pins, of you use screws they stay in much better, you will probably only need one on the center line.
Thanks for the tip Peter 😊 Will look into that!
A bit late now from Me, but you didn't need a new washbasin (sinks are in kitchens).
All that was needed was Car Body Filler (about £8 from Toolstation).
Apply LOADS underneath first to create a patch.
Once that's solid then overfill from above.
Once that's solid then sand smooth and even.
Then apply acrylic spray to seal.
Job done.
Thanks for the tips! :)
@@BenandEmily My Pleasure B&E.
And PLEASE next time You have an "incidental", why not reach out ?
My tip about washbasin repair isn't just a bodgy get-us-by it's a valid solution and if done diligently is permanent.
You have a following, ask for ideas.
I'm happy share GOOD info for free.
Take Care & Be Happy.
Thanks so much 😊
use two pins driven in at an angle to each other. Tie to both pins.
I agree with other comments... Repair rather than replace the sink. I think there is some kind of Japanese mending approach where you make a point of not hiding the repair but make it obvious by using a different colour. One thing you might be able to use is repair stuff called Sugru?
Oh wow, yes i like that idea! Thanks so much :D
"Leafchest" and "Stickbum" sound like Hobbit nicknames. :)
Brilliant! So true! 😆
I once had an incense stick lit, but I extinguished it before leaving the room (I thought). Hours later I returned and the room was filled with smoke. The incense had fallen on a cotton mattress, that was now fully smoldering. It could have burned the whole house down. You were lucky too. My take away: Always have a metal bowl under an incense stick.
Oh no! Incense is great but a bit of a renegade 😊
Duct tape on the bottom and white epoxy in the crack; good as new!
Great idea, cheers!
A hot knife or soldering iron will sort that sink until you want to replace it... ☮ Si and Lou on the K&A 🛳 👍
Ahh great idea! Thanks! I've epoxyed it now though...it really doesn't look too good! 😅
Where did you get your washer/spinner too?
Ps great videos
Hi Nathan, we got it from go outdoors but i think you can get similar twin tub type things on line. Its surprisingly good though! Glad you like the videos 🙂 Thanks so much!
You can fix the sink with glass fibre repair kit from halfords. Its the stuff used for repairing holes on cars. You would apply it from the reverse. It wouldn't be pretty, but it would be watertight. You need to setup a Patreon account to help you channel
Thanks for the tip! Yes we are still figuring out how to fix the sink.. Hmm that would be nice to set up at some point 🙂
You had me subscribe at “Free Spain”. 🤣😂 You two are really good . Thank you 🙏. 😊🤗 Kathy
😂 Haha! Thanks so much and thanks for subbing! X
I'd put gaffer tape under the burned sink hole to back up the sealant, should hold ok. Incense is extremely hot, it's quite dangerous. Phoebe set fire to the flat in Friends with incense, not to be recommended really.
I've had to sew a little cat thingy over a crispy hole I burned into my purple fleece jacket sleeve when I forgot the incense was on the table.
Goes back in time “Oh maybe car body filler? “ 😅
In my hometown of stone
It's very lovely there! 😊
