Marvel has always been the most hype for me. The players, the gameplay and even the commentators. Much props to Tampa Never Sleeps for keeping the hype alive. Im actually excited to see Marvel again in the main stage. Keep rockin it steady in 2023, EVO style.
So happy that Melty Blood: Type Lumina is getting a 2nd year at EVO Not only have they made quite a few positive changes to the gameplay but they have also added a lot of characters, stages & music all for free. The fact that FrenchBread have consistently supported the game so much for free (When they are a notoriously small budget company) frankly puts a lot of other fighting games to shame
When they're making a fighting game for a billion dollar franchise of course they'll do this well. Yes Tsukihime/Melty Blood isn't Fate but they're all part of the nasuverse.

After for so many years of absence in the EVO Lineup, Marvel Vs Capcom in general has finally returned to its glory. This will be the best EVO that has ever been hosted.
They know he'll be a sales seller if and when they release the commentary DLC. Even my non-FGC friends know his name. They're deffo saving him for when the sales slows down and they need an extra boost. They're targeting 40 million total Capcom games units sales by the end of the fiscal year(They're already at 26 Million) So yeah, they're spacing things out.
He's the only announcer that will make me turn on that option. Personally I find it kinda distracting and not hype but if Yipes does it I'm sure it would be funny if they allow him to have free reign on what he says.
I feel bad for DNF Duel that the game didn't make it in the slot for Evo 2023. The game was released for 8 months and the fact that they make few announcements (updates) for every 1-3 months without a roadmap makes it more sad to hear. Well, at least there are still few people playing that game.

I've worked at EVO for four years and it has yet to lose its novelty and awesomeness. I can't believe my good fortune and I even got to take a photo on the main stage after the show last summer. Always my favorite weekend of the year ♥️
I was helping to running those tournaments Yipes was talking about for Melty. We ran it for a year and eventually had people traveling from around the world to play by that Snapple machine. Fully serious. We actually called them BBGs. We eventually got the permit to play at the actual gazebo.
They was AWESOME! You can’t imagine the chills rush through me when I heard “Capcom presents Marvel Comics”. I still wish Capcom was still working on a follow up from a there last release.
Back in the day (mid 2000s) I used to play DDR in Trocadero Arcade, London. When I'd get tired I'd go downstairs and watch Ryan Hart and others play 3rd Strike while I cooled off. So awesome to see him there now!

I have to say last year watching max stream evo was legit so fun. I would jump in and out throughout the day and I legit got so hype watching the street fighter 5 finals.
Words cannot express how happy I am that UMVC3 is at EVO! It is my personal favorite fighting game and the game that started my competitive drive. I can't wait for this!!
I am just flabbergasted! This Evo feels like the return of the good ol' days before the global pandemic, before the controversies, it just feels right. I feel like people really don't understand how monumental the prize pool announcement is. A lot of the old legends will come back for that kind of money to test their mettle and it will be glorious! I have a feeling this could very well be the greatest UMVC3 tournament of all time. Add in the SF6 prize pool announcement and this year is gonna be crazy. Hold onto your butts my FGC brethren, we are about to go for a ride this year!

this EVO has a real shot at breaking some entry records I'd put money on Street Fighter 6 topping SFV's 5k+ in 2016 and then the total participants in 2016, obviously the loss of Smash is tough but the FGC does feel like its been slowly trending upwards for a long time now SF6 would have to do some real heavy lifting but def feels like a small outside chance
You said it yourself, SF5 was not a well received game and still drew 5k entrants. SF6 is hitting all the right notes even in beta state, and it will have a 2M$ World Finals. 7-9k could easily happen.
I played smash before any other fgc so when I talk to the smash community most people I talk to are actually excited about sf6 and more people than I anticipated are actually going to get it. I think its going to be HUGE
I hope this brings back the heavy hitters like FIlipino Champ, KBR, and Justin Wong for UMVC3. Secretly hoping that IFC Yipes also participates and can crack into the top 8. I haven't been following the scene very closely, but there has been an absence of Phoenix, which was his biggest gripe about the game (you had to have specific tech to counter Phoenix, on top of setting up a situation where you can employ the tech ).
I need to check out the VODs for Max's EVO restream last year. I usually watch it with Aris and his chat but it sounds cool that Max was checking out so many different games.
Aww RIP, Skullgirls had it's time in the sun and it seems like with the announcement of being closer to the end of it's lifecycle for good on top of all the big name games getting new titles and being able to run UMvC3 it's time for my blessed favorite fighting game to take a backseat again.
Skullgirls still has 2 DLC characters left in its season pass. And its mobile game is making hand over fist in money. It very likely get season 2. The game is over 10 years old at this point. It died like 3 times. While it sucks its not getting a second chance at EVO, but TBF ComboBreaker has always been the #1 SG tourney
Had a big post and lost it all, but let's just say that I've been following SG since the original Fillia trailer and I do my best to keep informed on the game. Marie being the last DLC character for the season is what feels like SG will be done after this season and the team will work on other stuff, but I would want it to go on forever if possible. What character would you like to see that isn't already on the roster? For personal takes I have Brain Drain, Panzerfaust and Stanley with a desire to see what Minette and Yu-Wan would play like and I think Roxie's design is cute. Really hard to not pick all of them.
