i'm a long-time VHF / UHF / microwave operator in the US (Massachusetts), and this is MIND-BLOWING 🤓, ESPECIALLY for a portable setup! (Puts my array to shame!). Some impressive engineering there! 😎 Tom WA1LBK
It was a test of the antenna system. It will be improved for the IARU Region 1 (europe/africa) vhf september contest 2017. Of course, we want to win in september 2017 ...
73,55 Jan
Where you have 4 Yagis on each level pointing in different directions, is each level linked with phasing harnesses or something to provide an omni directional effect?
are the trees a big attenuation for the lower yagis? do you have both a switch to listen on all the yagis or do you both listen on 4 yagi groups + high gain stack? great setup! so much work :-) cu in next contest on5gs
Great setup! I wonder at what hight are the lowest antennas(4x6el.) and how high are 4x17? Congratulations from 9A5KM (9A1CRS contest team), always nice working DR9A (830 km) Best 73!
Mladen Krajnović I don't know. The max heigth of the lattice mast is 40m. The top may be 48m ... This video doesn' show the conplete height - see dr9a.de for more pictures.
Bonjour.
The outside video footage is from setup, not operation - the mast is then elevated by 20 m. The site is 1000 m asl. You got the locator, shouldn't be too difficult to research...
@@keithmarkcam6216 It was M2. This antenna was never really effective for contest, too narrow beamwidth. We have removed it and just use the 8 x 4x6 Ele now. Won IARU-R1 VHF 2023 again with 1200 QSOs and 447 km average, 1347 km ODX (tropoducting).
Cool video for sure but when I saw 14mhz it got a bit confusing??? That's not VHF. I'm not sure what's going on here - must be a general contest or something. - N9LT.
Every or nearly every big 144mhz amateur radio station in europe uses a short wave tranveicer (20m band and sometimes 10m band) combined with a tranverter (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transverter).
That's way past the point of being a fun hobby.................. TO MUCH for a contest where nothing is won but bragging rights and a piece of paper...
Heck yeah, when I got my ticket one of the elmers in our club sold me his 735 with a Microwave Modules 2M transverter, it was his moonbounce rig until he upgraded. Gave me the weak signal vhf bug bad. Still have and use this setup 25 years later. 73
As a ham operator, I don't even know what I'm looking at. That is some impressive looking business you have going on there.
wow, great!! It was a pleasure to have contact with you yesterday.... nearly 500kms op 2m.... my farest VHF contact ever!!! 73 de ON3SA

Mega cooler Aufbau! Wirklich beeindruckend 😁
Oh wow what an impressive antenna setup thats what I call a mast. Imagine having that in your garden, I wonder what the neighbours would think 🤔?
Good stuff. I wonder if you might need a few more antennas? I think I saw a gap on the mast. Nice Drone flying!

I feel like 2 rotors, and 2 beams with a nice horizontal loop at the top, could have saved a few grand here.

Where you have 4 Yagis on each level pointing in different directions, is each level linked with phasing harnesses or something to provide an omni directional effect?
the antennas are phased and it is a specific yagi design for this setup. otherwise the system will not work.

Increible!!!
Which kind of rules you set for operators to go at the moment please? it looks like they are both in RUN mode...:)
most of the time: one operator uses only the west antennas, the other operator the east antennas. The fastest operator wins (can transmit).
what is the model long antenna? 4 yagis long.....17b2? meters boom? thanks
not shure - we do not use these antennas any more. It's too much work for a nearly no additional contest points.

Those antennas need to be higher above those trees K2LNS
You don't see the final height in this video :-(
The maximum height of the lattice tower is about 40m and all antennas are much higher than the trees.
why is there so many Yagi's pointing in so many directions?
Someone needs to make the Omni Yagi
WAIT “THE MEGAYAGI”
Whatever the most you can get in a circle without affecting the radiation of the others is. Mounted on a big circle thing
My best guess is is to direction find the contact and then the top masive yagi rotates to beam in the correct direciton.
