What a cool Antenna/Tower installation, top notch all the way. I have heard it on 80 meters and it does a very nice job. 73 , W7HTX. Great video, nicely done. 💯🆒📻📡
Am I confused about the bolts? They look like they only threaded into the ground about 1"? I have installed many light poles and we always installed the anchor bolts with the concrete pour. The bolts protrude from the concrete and the light pole is set onto them.
Very cool toy for big boys, I’ve done a bit of amateur Tower work so this is very cool to watch and I’ve also been around that place where your sign is from many many many times, enjoy
I agree… It would be so easy to spend way more money on that on some automobile. I love that tower and that antenna is phenomenal. I hope he’s enjoying it. Also, looks like he gave some local businesses a source of income… Kudos 73, to him.
What a coincidence, My Father (SK) put up a 20m four element quad in the '70's with the same size concrete footing as yours, needless to say, the mast still stands today! 😏👍🎙⚡️
At the start of your fine video I thought your tower was a radar mast off of a Navy ship. Looked up Tashjian Towers they definitely do some heavy duty work, that's a beautiful looking tower I'm sure that antenna system will brings your group many hours DX enjoyment.
Brian, W7BJN, reported to me "The base was engineered for plenty of threads beyond fully threaded. They are construction grade fine threads and done strictly by the TRI-EX engineering specs."
hope you grounded all 3 legs of the tower, and high on the tower legs. you dont want lightning to hit the concret to distroy or crack the base. Futher more the system to control the antenna does not like lightning a surge will wipe out that system easily......GOOD LUCK !! nice install !!! w2ot. @@donalfinn4205 A LOT of people do not know that I do metal fab for parts on transmission towers was shown a base on a TV xmitter over 1000ft tall that destroyed by lightning the experts had goofed and let a grounding of the rebar to the earth and tower shot straight through it . man its nice to see how hams with unlimited funds can play with antennas or contract it out to someone and let them do it for you. My dipole works good and I have fun using it.
I agree… It is nice to see a man who enjoys life. And it’s pretty obvious, He’s enjoying this beautiful set up. I bet the contractors appreciated the business. better you than me - I couldn't put up with all the B.S. and the bragging that "has" to go along with such a thing - (gimme a long line & a tuner, w/ a j-pole in the corner)

Great... You win. Nothing more to say other than you win with all your awards, resources and money. The mounting bolts look like they only had 2-3 inches of threads in the ground!
That’s ok, anything more than 1.5 time the bolts diameter will give full strength

Wow I can't believe how blatant the sad hams are being here. Awesome antenna and awesome tower setup my guy.

My whip on the roof gutter works great . I can hear anyone and everyone that I can hear.
Beautiful spread and antenna system! Nice install!
Great video thanks Randy, and thanks to Brian
Glad you liked the video. Brian and I had a fun time shooting it.
Very nice enjoy the fun of this antenna.

WHOOA very good installation. F4JTR.
Nice! I like that work platform
VERY NICE, neat and clean job . Need a follow up video I am very interested
This is impressive! Do you have video showing how the coax was run into the house?
that would be a nice antenna for my QRP radio...
Only 4 anchor bolts that only threads to less than one inch to the concrete floor? .. I would re-think the whole mounting mechanism of that tower!

Do not use flexible cables for lightning grounding. But as i could see, it is not the "first row" conductor for a lightning to the ground. Right?
Should have bought an Optibeam. He'll find out.
OMg what did the insurance company say? lol
Ótimo trabalho parabéns
Impressive, that's a 11K antenna.
Dang, now I don't like my random wire any more. hihi
I hope he bonded those grounds, doesnt seem like they did
to me it seemed the bolts did not go far into concrete? it appeared like they only went 3 inches or so?

Yep, me too.
Typically only need about five threads for holding power

Why?
Use solid wire for grounding
Bad foundation design, anchor bolts should be embeeded into concrete and nuts on top of mounting plate...
