My favourite part of this is when Dimash DOESN’T sing in the middle. He just stares us out, giving us the eye. His presence is mesmerising.

What most people here said are correct, Dimash doesn’t limit himself with genres. He sings what he want and sometimes it’s 5 genres in 1 song: pop, rock, RnB, folk, opera, Jazz, hip hop, etc. For Dimash, genres are just different sound colours to paint a complete story. He can do it mainly due to his vocal agility to shift seamlessly and easily in between notes.
Dimash doesn't have a main style, He can sing anything in any genre, so he does. I saw him live at the NYC concert Dec 2019. The concert was amazing. Not only hearing his voice live, but his charisma and interaction with the audience is fantastic.

This is an epic performance by Dimash. It’s on my top 5 for sure.
Dimash doesn’t have one genre. He sings it all from Pop, Opera and Folk what you will find most of the time, but Dimash can’t be put in a box. There will always be a new surprise.

Dimash's style is essentially cross-overs - classical, pop, rock, jazz, R&B, ethnic. He mixes them into new sounds, gliding effortlessly between different vocal techniques.
I don't think you've gotten around to the Tokyo Jazz Festival recording of 'Samaltau.' That one is a sort of ethnic/classical crossover with some really interesting instrumental work backing him up. It was recorded in Kazakhstan rather than presented live in Japan owing to the pandemic. We don't often hear rainsticks in Western music! So I recommend giving this one a try. You'll experience yet another dimension to his music.
Where music videos exist of Dimash, by all means, see them - but the best versions are almost always live performances. So I recommend reacting to the live ones first, then run the music videos for contrast.
At some point you will run into Dimash's performances on the CBS program 'World's Best.' Dimash fans *hate* those performances. CBS cut them into little pieces to make more room for insipid 5th-grade level commentary from utterly inane judges - and they treated Dimash arrogantly and shabbily. He withdrew from the show because they lied to him - they promised he would not compete against children, and then they did indeed include child contestants. Dimash regards pitting adult pros against children to be unfair to the kids. When he withdrew, CBS was super nasty about it and blackened his reputation. So it's a full-on boycott. If you review those performances, fans will bitterly complain. There are superior versions of the songs he presented for CBS elsewhere, not shortened.
CBS is also a notorious copyright troll, so that's another reason to avoid them.

Most of his concerts are like this one , very intense, I was lucky to see him live in New York, two and a half hours of goosebumps, he's just simply the best the most versatile vocalist nowadays.
Dimash's genre would be popera/neo classical. Definitely a first of his kind. Nobody has been able to blend opera so well with other genres until Dimash. I know Freddie made an album with Monserrat Calballe, mixing rock and opera but Freddie was not a classical singer like Dimash. So for me, I think Dimash realized Freddie's dream and made it a reality! ❤❤❤

This song was written especially for him to display his range and power.
Igor composed the song to fit Dimash's voice to be sung in a huge open air sports stadium at the opening of the World Skills Games in Belarus. He is in the role of Zeus, admonishing the athletes at his games to be strong, never give up.

Dimash as others has said describes himself as neoclassical. But he loves to fuse especially different styles of folk elements into his music. Heavily representing his homeland of Kazakhstan. You truly never know just what Dimash will bring. He loves all kinds of music. So he experiments as well. Which is why he turned down the opportunity to perform in the Astana Opera. He didn't want to limit himself. Looking forward to his Kazakh album. You might like to see his MV Akkuym. He generally sings it as a duet on stage but you really feel the story of it in his MV. I can watch Dimash singing Ogni Pietra repeatedly. You two are hilarious in your interactions... I’m a cellist and I remember many years ago a relationship with a trombone player - playful bickering. Miss that. Anyhow, back to Dimash - phenomenal performance and great energy. So far, you’re right, there is little to criticize as far as Dimash’s performances are concerned! Dimash has too many styles to truly define, but he has self-described as pop opera.

Dimash is going to need the help of his fans this coming Friday (and every Friday) in order to help him retain the #1 position in requests that he gained for the first time on the March 12 MTV youtube channel Friday Livestream when he replaced the act that had been holding that position for over six months!. This was performed at his huge 2019 Arnau solo concert in Kazakhstan 🇰🇿 with an audience of around 33,000 he sang for around 2 1/2 hours and it was amazing. He sang it in other concerts too including his 2019 New York concert in the Barclays Centre,that one was incredible too as are all his concerts. He has no genre or style as he sings them all, including Rap, R&B, hip hop, rock, folk, opera, jazz, musical theatre and he mixes it all in a new musical fusion which is all sung with his stunning voice that is always perfect. This song was written for his voice in collaboration with Igor Krutoy. He re arranged it in a more rock style for his concerts. Love your comments and you supplement each other so well. About style, Dimash doesn't fit in a box or one genre, he loves music in general and does it all. I can't wait for the song "Be With Me" to be released, that shows very well how he refuses to stick to one genre. If music was like the olympics Dimash would qualify for so many different sports, he would compete both in the 100meter and the marathon, in both long jump and pole vault, and he would make up his own sports and duathlons. Dimash lives, breathes and dreams music, he is so knowledgeable and skilled that I'm not sure the music industry today is ready for him. He does what he wants the way he wants to do it, that's difficult in todays world of music but I think his integrity is his strongest asset.

What is the style of music in Dimash's repertoire, you ask? Sean described it well when he said, "It's like watching two heavyweight Greco-Roman wrestlers battle and then going to a beautiful water ballet of synchronized dancing". Or, as Dimash described his personal playlist to an MTV interviewer: "Hard rock, baroque music, Roman Catholic choir, Eminem, jazz, Italian classics", with his favorite songs by "Michael Jackson and Pavarotti". When anyone asks a Dimash fan to define his genre, the best answer is "Dimash". If a particular genre, or a fusion of multiple genres, isn't your cup of tea, stick around for the next one because it will be completely different.

But he has no boundaries when it comes to music.. also, not all of his songs have crazy vocal acrobatics.. some of his most truly amazing performance are in achievable ranges... You should watch a concert, you will see his intensity, energy, stamina for several hours.. his family worry for him after concerts because he leaves everything of himself on stage and none for himself...just keep watching.. this young man will change how we hear music.. he is a revolution.

Check out Adai+Daididau in which he gives his all playing a dombra (with 100+ others) in hot traditional princely robes. He’s exhausted and crying at the end. Or, Daybreak at Bastau, 2017. It’s a sad and emotional song from a child’s voice who is saved by his parents in a cable car accident which killed his parents. Really, anything by him is awesome! I have heard this chameleon of singing do his magic for about 2 years,
and I changed the way of listening to singers when I became aware of the "Dimash way".
He has moved limits and levels considerably, and one of my hopes for the future
is being able to experience him live while he is at his peak.

i think dimash's comfort style is opera. he sings opera, pop mix opera, rock mix opera etc whatever genre he sang always mixed with opera. but i want to hear dimash sing in full rock, make it happen dimash!!

I have been a singer in my days, but Dimash is like a thousand times better than me at his worst. Just love to listen to him. I am NOT jealous. I am super happy for this talented young man. It is like he shares a great gift of his beautiful voice with the world. Yes. And I am so glad. :)
