- Sonic the Fighters' community has released a mod to the game that could change the game forever. Here's a quick video going over some of those changes.
Still working on some bigger stuff, but I had to make a video after this update!

People will now know the STANDO POWAH of Leggman.
Dude's considered a power type for good reasons. See also him smashing that ice wall in Lost World for a mainline game example.

I hope a "Nerfed" Super Sonic is made playable eventually. He's the one character we're missing out of the normally playable roster.

@@Cutzerella03 Rocket Metal is technically a character, as well as the egg robot used in the same cutscene, and the UFO, and they all have moves assigned by default (kind of, it's complicated), but they're all very buggy. Rocket Metal in particular will clip himself out of bounds under certain circumstances. Problem is, fixing them means breaking the attract screen, potentially permanently.

having Mechless Eggman be playable is so funny to me. it's like having exclusively a Stand in HFTF
the funny thing is, there _is_ a stand-only character in hftf, being perhaps unsurprisingly death 13
you just don't hear about it much since, like eggman, it's a story mode-only boss character

@@TheEverythingEnthuiast Death 13 can be fought in HFTF's single player as a secret mid-boss, but there's no way to use him without a hack.

I believe they are trying to make a game banana page for it so hopefully that is done soon but yeah, every comment here still holds true

I think knuckles sidestep getting stronger the more battered he is, is something really cool that fits his character in the games as he can be a bit of a berserker when things get really tough.
This goes crazy actually, kudos to the StF community for what sounds like a very forward thinking update to the game

It's much much easier. Plus, if you really want to play this game competitively in any way, you will need to be in the server to know about the tournaments and find people to play with either way.

Only complaint is that download for the patch is locked behind Discord… which I can no longer go on… for reasons involving internet safety.

Great to see this game getting attention! I hope they add in Rocket Metal soon. He was a favorite of mine and I played as him a LOT in the Arcade romhacks.
Got to wonder why he bothers with all the machinery when Eggman's perfectly capable of holding his own in a 1-v-1.
part of me feels weird about ketchup damage being removed and metal sonic and mech eggman being custom characters at this point, but I’m excited to see what comes out of this

I hear "Sonic The Fighters modding community" and I'm like "uhh?!". Honestly, I didn't think it would happen. It would also be interesting to be able to change the AI of the base game, using basic movements from the competitive mode and making it more competent
I hope that in the future we get other classic characters like Mighty, Ray, Vector and Charmy

I always wanted to see a breakdown on metal Sonic. psycho crusher looks really cool and I wanted to understand what he does
idk how to feel about Ketchup removal, it's kind of a whole part of the game
Yeah I understand its considered anti-competitive or whatever, but at the same time it’s part of the game’s identity and always kept games unpredictable and interesting.
based on the context, i have to wonder if turning it off is common practice for offline tournaments ( such as they are ) played on ps3, and the core of the change is really just achieving parity between online play and the main competitive ruleset
alternatively, it might be more of an experimental change than anything, since it lets the entire community test the removal and feel out of it's better, worse, or would perhaps be better implemented as a weakening of ketchup's effects rather than a wholesale removal
I mean you could already turn it off before in the past anyway in offline matches so it's not that important to the game anyway
It was already a toggle on the Arcade version anyways, by changing the damage option to Real.

I would love to see them put in “classic” versions of newer characters, I’d love to see someone like Blaze or Vector rocking up in the ring.

I'd love to see what they can do with Super Sonic. Maybe if very specific conditions are met in a match, Sonic can transform into Super Sonic - he loses health over time (like the traditional ring-drain mechanic) and maybe you can still chip away his health, but he doesn't have any hitstun for most attacks.

Ahhh fair enough. I at least hope that Super Sonic retains some of his power when they have to nerf him, so he's different from Sonic

What if STF had more playable characters in its original release? As in: Mighty, Ray, Charmy, Vector, Honey, various Eggman and Metal Sonic versions, the background robots, and everyone gets a Super & Hyper Form? And if both Japanese & English voices were available? And alternate story endings if the bad guys win?

Another download holed up in an unarchiveable Discord? Come on, man. Please tell me the devs are smart enough to upload it to file hosts on the clearnet. Some place like github would be great. There's always a risk of these fan patches becoming lost media if the server gets nuked.
