- Creating a journal cover from a 9 x 12 inch envelope folded to make space for a double journal. New idea...it is for me, but I'm sure it's not original though I haven't seen it anywhere. This is turning out so pretty, my mind is just working. You know how we did the big long collages of pages, that would work for this, I haven’t done one of those in ages. Also now that I have my new Epson Eco-Tank printer I need to try putting Mod Podge or some thing on it. With my HP, as much as I loved that printer and love the quality of the prints which I think were better than the Epson, I couldn’t touch it with anything even remotely wet without the ink running so there’s no way I could’ve Mod Podged over those prints. Also, I’m so happy you say Mod Podge just like it’s written on the bottle, I cannot listen to the people that say Modge Podge. I just can’t do it, I have to turn off the sound or fast forward because you know I’m neurotic, certain sounds and any smells just drive me crazy.
What a beautiful project to bring me back into the crafting fold, my sista! I love this and will definitely be making some of these, thank you for sharing your morning musings with us all! ~Carole
I'm in love with this journal just by watching you create the cover. What's not to love-ducks, lambs, bunnies, flowers and everything that oooozes Spring! I think we are all ready for warm weather, green grass. leaves on the trees and flowers. The robins have arrived and are singing some mornings here and the cardinals are also singing. Can't wait to see more of this journal. My grand daughter has a friend that is a boy but he's NOT her boyfriend. lol They met at a speech meet last year and have kept in touch. He's a great guy and they enjoy each others company. Enjoy your weekend and have a blessed day!

Got my envelopes today so I might have enough time to start collating. I am doing. New Orleans themed book to give to my friend for Christmas. We went around today taking tons of pictures to go with the Mardi Gras parade ones we took this past weekend. This is going to be so much fun!

Oh I love it & am so envious! We are so economically challenged in South Africa and can't so easily just purchase the digis', never mind printing them!!! Our exchange rate is appalling! Gorgeous! I so enjoy watching this develop. I don't mind at all hanging out with you while you collage or use the Mod Podge. We sometimes get the best stories when you don't have to concentrate so much on what you're doing. Sharing our stories is sharing ourselves, and gifts don't get more special than that. We got rain, and the sky is heavy with clouds. Tear tracks of raindrops streak my glass while the pines do a little dance. We get so little rain here that mornings like this are wonderful. Enjoy Alfie. He is so blessed to have grandparents as caring as you guys.

I am completely taken with this double journal Gayle. Everything seems to be light and cheery and interesting. Perfect timing to do this as spring is just around the corner. I love how the papers, all mixed, compliment each other in design and colour. The configuration of the folds is giving such a change to the regular linear outlay and I love it. Thanks Gayle. Hugs.

Gayle, I love your idea for this double journal. Took the basic idea and adapted it to a bank statement envelope, for a mini, perfect size for carrying along with. I kept the window intact so I can slip reminder notes where they can be quickly seen. Thanks for the inspiration!

Probably any sort of sealer would work, but maybe just a coat of Mod Podge. I have my bunny suitcase all collaged with Mod Podge and a good coating over it. It’s probably 10 years old and still like the day I collaged it! 😄❤️

Gayle, seeing your back drop (cereal liner) reminded me to share another recycle/upcycle/reuse/reinvent idea. Has anyone considered using mylar for the same usage, and for use on and in our various journals? Take an old chip bag and take it apart (cut it apart) and clean the surfaces. (Yes, for those of you who must, lick the Doritos Dust [Cheetos, etc], THEN wash the surface.) Use it then however your mind wanders. Can't you see some butterflies made with a layer of mylar underneath the top? Even for the top! You would likely need to use say, Beacon's 3-in-1 adhesive, or similar. I am unsure of the cure time for the adhesive, but a supporting underlayer of paper would indeed reduce the curl of mylar. Maybe allow the mylar backed with paper to cure under a flat/weighted surface. So, share ideas fellow crafters! We can have so much fun with an item that is routinely tossed. Keep it out of the oceans and off of the trees and earth. I even wash out the bags while still intact and use it for freezing leftovers, or larger quantities of soups, etc. Oh, and although I do not know the settings and time needed, it can be ironed in layers; just think about how the bags are sealed initially. HAVE FUN~
