Nice one guys, big shout out to Emily for overcoming her vertigo fears on that ridiculously narrow footpath! 😄😄
I do not have a fear of falling, I have a fear of not bouncing.
😅
Thank you! 🤪
To see Emily so scared and yet she did it anyway!! That’s inspiring 🎉
Good for you Emily for going forward and conquering the trail. Love Alan's purring.😸
Great blog this weeks guys ,that was so funny Emily, great views aswell 👏
Emily - you are my hero.... Well done with that walk on the cliff edge !
❤️
As a fellow vertigo sufferer, I really felt for Emily on the High Tor path!.....As I also suffer from claustrophobia, I got quite nervous in the lead mines!
I feel for you Emily! I got stuck traversing Snowdon in my early 30s, I froze on the spot, my friend was having to uncurl my grip. I was hysterical. She wanted to carry on to the top. She asked this elderly couple in their 70s to help me down to the bottom. Super embarrassing 🤣 Well done on succeeding
Emily, you go girl, you did it. I feel you,,when it hits you its very hard to get rhrough it but you did.👍👍👍 Don't be embarrassed, we all have some kind of fears. Glad your able to laugh at the end of it. Thanks for taking us along. Love both of your humor. Always stay strong and as lovely as you both are. Give Allen lovies for me.❣😺👍⚘😺👍😊
I don't blame Emily one bit for feeling vertigo on that narrow path overlooking a steep drop. Even so, she demonstrated courage in spite of her fears. I probably would have crawled too. You conquered the High Tor of Derbyshire! Those Koi were a surprise to see. They're huge and must be quite old. Beautiful sunset. Love how Alan was purring when you were back in the van.
Yes to, go out and relax, some time is also very important for the body and mind
NOW THAT WAS AN ADVENTURE , AND ALAN JUST SNOOZES INTO THE EVENING..LOLOL. 🎄❄🎄❄
Your a star Emily and an inspiration to everyone who have phobias. Well done on High Tor.
Thank you both for taking us to visit such an amazing beautiful place. Alan is just so happy to be wherever you are and is so at home in the van. She's such a chilled out contented cat.
😻
Hi Ben and Emily thank you for showing us where you grew up Emily what a beautiful place with lots of history you did so well Emily with your fear of heights I look forward to your weekly catch up I will try and put Matlock on my to do list will have to wait for my wife to recover from a stroke we won't be going up where you went just round the town stay safe and take care both of you 🌹✌️
Wow! I feel for you, Emily. Been in a few tight spots where I have struggled with my fear of heights - path down to beach from North Cornish Coastal Path near Camborne (crawled back up); walk to the Dripping Rock along edge of the Achensee from Pertisau in Austria (readers of Elinor Brent-Dyer's the Chalet School books will know where I mean); steps up the Laxey Wheel on Isle of Man; crag fast on top ridge of Stac Polly north of Ullapool - bit into Mars Bar without removing wrapper, calmed down and ended up walking along top of ridge; top of Braeriach at 8pm keeping 100 metres away from edge but just knowing there was a 1,000 foot drop straight down into the Lairig Ghru was freaking me out; footbridge over the River Avon west of Tomintoul (it's now no more, unsurprisingly!).
Thanks Emily ,Ben ,taking trip to Matlock ,brought back memories ,as my husband & i had our first date ,had our pickic near that castle 67 yrs ago ,travelled in a Austin 10 ,with no brakes .from Coalville ,If i knew i would 'nt have gone ,with him ,had lovely day ,😆😀
Bit of a treat this week. 34 minutes of Matlock, a pretty peak district town. Good luck on your hunt for a new van.
Very nice hike, way to go Emily, what I learned from dealing with hights is not to look down, really enjoyed this video
Our favorite video so far! We found you two 3 days ago and have been watching , enjoying you both.Rose and I have been married 43 years we are retired in Leesburg, FL. U.S.A. Stay exactly as you are. Give Alan our love.
I feel for you, I suffer from vertigo, so well done for trying to overcome your vertigo and persevering with it. Love watching your videos,
We had a tabby cat throughout our children’s childhood. Thomas rode free in the car, every weekend we went to our cottage in Suffolk. He was free to explore the countryside. Knew when we were packing to return home. Climbed all the trees in the orchard and had a ball living with us. Still miss him. Cats are clever, more clever than most people think.
You two are so lovely together and so funny , I’ve wen watching for a year now and it’s always the perfect medicine when I’m feeling a bit crap . Well done for getting though that high path ! I would crawl too , was so funny 😂
A video on on next camper would tie in nicely with your narrow boating experience 👍
Well done, Emily, very brave 👏
What an interesting journey. You guys live in an almost magical place, especially with Benny's music as the soundtrack. Speaking of which, that lead mine area looks like it would be a fantastic spot to do some really interesting recording for music. You have to somehow include Alan's purring in it in some way. This was an interesting break from being on the boat(s)!
You are my no.2 favourite site🎉🎉🎉🎉❤
OMG Emily - well done - I have exactly the same level of vertigo and I would definitely have turned back!!
Great video as always - thanks you three xx
Emily, you did amazing at doing that narrow high path. Honest to goodness I wouldn’t have managed it all. You should be really proud of yourself ❤
Good job Emily, that was a full on anxiety attack and you got through it. I would not have been able to do that, even when you got to the area you said was better… nope. Just watching this brought on the anxiety again.
Purrrrrr ❤😌🙏
I feel your pain being that close to the edge. I would not have made it.
Thankyou for taking us to matlock iv only been once back in 1971 on a school trip and we went down some caves so once again thankyou I loved seeing the beautiful town again after all these years and you both lovely people had made it possible x
What a beautiful area. What a narrow path! Well done Emily. You did it! I'm not sure that I would have walked along there. Since I had a mini stroke last May, my balance is none too good. Excellent video.
A larger van for 2024 go for it.
Benny's running commentary on the sandwich made me LOL.
The acoustics in those ravines would have been great to record in.
😀 Haha! Yes!
Emily walking/crawling that ledge was comedy gold! 😂 My vertigo is so bad, I wouldn't even been able to crawl it. Well done. 👍
Merry Christmas guys, stay warm. Hi to Alan
Really enjoyed this one Guy's
Emily, you reminded me of my wife. When I finished in collage in Cardiff ( I was a mature student ) I promised my self I would cross the foot bridge that crossed the M4 just outside Cardiff and look down on the M4 and say to myself "I don't have to come up here again. I used to travel the 112 miles there from home, spend the day (one day a week) in collage and then stay with my aunt and travel the 112 miles back the following day. Any way, on my last day there my wife came with me and she said she wanted to cross the foot bridge with me. It was high it was narrow and my wife was terrified. We got half way across by which time my wife had a hold of me in a vice like grip and had me pushed up against the hand rail. I cant forget the look on a woman's face who was waiting to cross from the other side, I think she thought my wife was trying to push me off the bridge onto the motorway below. We tuned around and gingerly walked back. Mt wife, like you is terrified of heights, bless her.
Oh Emily. OMG That is me. I am just terrified of heights. THAT IS A CRAZY WALK. You are amazing. A real hero and Benny is a hero for completing that sandwich 😂 Well done both. Incredible video. Sooooo beautiful
😄 Thanks so much! 🥪 ❤️
Brilliant plus Emily's bravery on the cliff walk. Such an inspiration to others.
You have every right to be terrified of that drop. After all those bad storms a lot of these places randomly crumble. I watched 999 program the other day and a woman fell off a cliff edge doing the same thing, she was barely alive! Took one slip and that was it 😢
Well, that took some.... I do those sort of routes regularly, and watching you, especially on hands and knees, had me all sweaty handed!
You think your lost now in you hometown wait tell you 81 then go back .I found the emergency entrance to a hospital where my grand faters plumbing shop and home were plus 5 rentals were , streets that don't exist any more justs home and parks it was a real head scratcher know need to go back. Happy Trails you 2. We really enjoy you trips nature shots and editing are outstanding .
Oh wow yes! That must have been strange! Thanks so much for watching 😊
that was quiet a few years ago now and it still haunts me and that was only the tip of the ice burge . Here in the states what happened to towns there was no room in down town areas for new construction back in the late 50s and 60s the new construction malls and so on were built just on the outskirts of old towns and consequently the old towns dried up all the business went to the new malls not the old towns are derelict dumps now .all of my 16 friends are all gone now past away most by bad choices in life others to different maladies NO reason to ever go back except to visit grave which I do there not forgotten . Stay safe out there in the wilds of England he he .@@BenandEmily
Thank you for sharing that Mike Boone. I found it moving and eloquent and I think many people will chime with your experience, in the UK as well as in the USA
Can really recommend a high top movano or master. Still very car like to drive and fun.
Hi both just to say my stomach reached out to Emily on that path I have the same trouble with heights, even the drone shot made it flip.🤢
haha Emily " is that Tuna and onions from your sandwich hands" 😆 brilliant.
😅
I was terrified just with the video!
😅 It was so high uuuup! 🫣
Yes me too 😳😳
Haha I wondered if you used to go to the Pav 😂 Proper shady club lol
You can think about love rather than gripping on and surviving... THAT IS LOVE! XX
you guys do chill me out watching your adventures after my constructive 8 hours work that is boring...nice guys keep it up..x
Really great vlog well done Emily. Alan is the best cat ever purring so much she is a contented puss cat. In 1958 as a 17 year old Braunstone Leicester kid i rode to Matlock many times on my 1955 Speed twin so thank you for going around and showing how beautiful place it is it brings back happy memories. It looks like a bigger van is going to to be a welcome change i know you have had many great trips as when you went to Spain and Portugal on your previous vlog. Ed 40 S of Vegas
I love my mwb Ducato van. I converted it myself for me, the Mrs , and the three dogs (spanner, sprocket and chisel)
Get on Emily, well done for getting along that path. I laughed so much at you crawling, not because I was being horrible but because you did exactly what I'd have had to do. Well, to be truthful I'd have turned back 😂😂😂. About a bigger van, don't know if you've heard of Theo and Bee from The Indie Projects on RUclips. They are looking to sell their van, it's a Sprinter and all ready to move in but could be modified by yourselves by adding a shower etc. Have a look. They now live in Portugal and cannot take their van because of regulations etc so it's sitting in a secure parking area in the UK.Xxxx
Ok , your fuel prices in litres I guess ? And we are moaning here ! Currently at a quid 10 p / litre !
Emily I don’t like heights either. I would have looked at the trail and said .. .. ..NO WAY‼️as-well.
Ok, stick with me here for a minute. watching your show from almost a beginning. I just couldn't figure out who Emily looked like.
And i'm watching scrooged with bill murray.. and I see Karen Allen.. and she looks just like Emily... anyway thanks for sharing your adventures
Very tuff on that walk Emily very entertaining to see you overcome adversity !😮
Derbyshire!! Woot woot! I’m half Derbyshire/Welsh - gorgeous video and hugs to you both!!
We love Derbyshire! 😊 Thanks for watching x
What a cracking episode; Poor Emily......I would have been exactly the same and she did so well to face her fears and then share it with us all. Kudos to you lady. The plinky music at the viewing point on High Tor sent tingles through my body. Absolutely love your new music Ben. Much love to you both and Alan 😘x
I spent a lot of time in the 50s and 60s around Matlock and Matlock Bath, playing in the paddling pool and chugging around the lake in the little motor boats. I hardly recognised any of the locations. Are you heading to Via Gellia?
How are you guys? You make me laugh and also terrify. I’m scared of heights to and confined areas. Good to see Benny fell in love with these tuna and salad sandwich carrying it like a baby LOL. Anyway keep up the good work really love and appreciate you guys cliff from Logan City Queensland Australia 🇦🇺 🧑🏾🦽
Loved this . And the music of course.
Beautiful area!! Thanks for taking us along! Emily!!! I would NOT have been able to do that scary walk!!! Congrats to you!
Omg Emily .you were so brave.I feel sick just watching xx
🫣
Вы прекрасная пара, умные обаятельные, интересные, люблю вас смотреть. Кота забыл, а он мне тоже очень нравится.) Удачи вам.)
Thank you so much! 😊
The new harness is much too small for poor Alan, you need to exchange it for a bigger one. We bought a post op cat recovery suit for our puss & put it on her but it was obviously too small despite observing the size advice given so she had to wear the cone of shame instead.
Awww poor puss! Yeah it's too small, it was the only size they had but it was used for that weekend only! Think we need a custom made one for her! 😸 x
🎉well done for doing that walk. I get soggy legs on a ladder when decorating. Thank you for the videos, love them. Take care 😊🌹
Oh no! Soggy legs! Totally get that feeling! Thanks for watching 😊
Emily should bluid the new van herself
Back in the day in me 20s 30s I done all the walks all over the country include there no issues, now I had to sit here flinching on me settee specially when the drone was heading fast towards the edge maybe issue a watch with danger notice to the video 😂 but lovely to see the areas again 👍🙂
Lovely vlog as usual. Your so cool together especially on adventures. Lots of ❤ and best wishes for Christmas. See you guys on the next one. ❤ from Arizona 🇺🇸.
I hate heights too. I'd be doing the same. Bless you for getting through it.
A bigger van would be great for you both as you love the travelling life. New year new exciting ventures. Xx
That was a nice adventure
Another great video, enjoyed watching thank you.. 😊
Giddy edge is a HARD no from me!
When the dizziness kicks in it’s like being completely paralytically drunk! ‘Just don’t look down’ is not simple when your brain feels disconnected from your body! I’m not sure if I can even watch…… Woah!
is the really cool bookshop still in cromford ? they did cake too 🙂 i used to live in crich carr and my daughter went to the little village school ,only two classrooms . i loved derbyshire
Brilliant episode great video and music.
Hi guys just catching up on your back videos and interested in how you have kitted out your nice little camper. I would be interested. In the lay out and why it works for you and is it a short wheel base vivaro etc many thanks Alan
When you were both in Starkholmes (apparently) lost… “you’re not lost, it’s right there!” Very brave to do the Giddy Edge when you have vertigo, well done! Can’t believe you stopped over where I have my office and I didn’t see you or your bright yellow van! Your £12 is to a worthy cause. The Pav isn’t a nightclub anymore, exciting things in the pipeline for it, I’ve just been appointed as Conservation Architect to the charitable trust that owns it. Tell Benny to walk up Bank Road, that’ll burn his sandwich off. Looking forward to the trip down Cromford Canal next week.
Best laugh I have had in a long time😊
😄 Yeeey!!! 🤩
A trip to Matlock Bath isn't complete without losing all your change in the coin pushers! Nice to see Nottm on Sea!
Your country has some awesome history sites and buildings I love it! I was laughing a bit when Emily was crawling along that trail, sorry Emily, but good you done it! You guys are lovely. Thanks for taking us along.
Hehe, I was laughing too and I was the one crawling 😄 I realise it was ridiculous but funny all the same! Thanks for watching 🥰
Really beautiful place 😊. Thank you for SJ. I hope you 3 really ready for Christmas 😊. Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you 3 guys 😊 much love x
Thank you I lived in Matlock for 15yrs opposite the High School, lovely to see and Alan is a joy. Take care both ❤
It was a hard watch seeing Emily suffering her vertigo up on High Tors, glad you made it through to Matlock Bath.. been there a couple of times. Also been on that cable car up to The Heights of Abraham and into the caves there … also sampled the fish & chips down in Matlock Bath. Great episode and Alan Cam is still cute .. just like she is!
Great video .. thanks for posting this.
Well done lass You Did it cheers n beers Marty Australia
Hi! I really like your music choices. Is it from Benny? Ty Guys! :-)
Thank you so much! Yes it's all written and recorded by Benny on our boat 😊 You can find his music here if you would like to have a look > bennyjones.bandcamp.com/ or over on streaming services search Benny Jones 😊🌟
Get away from me! Come closer! lol the fear was real!
Dear Emily,
I am 100% with you when it comes to heights. I have learned that when I get into a bad situation with heights I never look down, ALWAYS, look up, it does help. You guys make a sweet couple. Benny you are good for your lady.
Mark
Alberta, Canada
OMG Emily as a fellow vertigo sufferer I feel your pain on that very scary path! I don’t think I could have stood on the edge like that! I live not far from there, in Ashbourne but I’ve never been to High Tor. Love the way you take Alan along on road trips, our cat likes coming on road trips and boat trips too. Loved the new harness, she’s not fat, she’s just fluffy😅! Can’t wait for next week when you visit my favourite bookshop, Scarthins, I am also looking forward to watching more road trips in your new bigger van. Take care, lots of love. xxxx
Emily! I’m so proud of you! By being so brave you’re going to inspire others to be brave too! ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
❤️
Emily, not everyone can do that. You are more brave than I. It is very inspiring.
❤️
Woodworm Runes would be great band name!
It really would!! (Wood?) 😄
Benny - Don't be seen drinking or eating at the wheel!!
Why!? 😀
@@BenandEmily it is now a driving offence to eat or drink at the wheel of a vehicle, whether moving or not. You must park before doing the cafe bit!! AND we don't want you to lose that precious licence....do we?? Merry Christmas to you both and DON'T eat your Turkey BEHIND the WHEEL!! - John
@bindatek8801 thanks John, I think you've got your facts wrong there though. It's definitely not an offence to eat or drink while driving. If an officer thinks you are driving carelessly and not in proper control of your vehicle, bacically driving badly due to it, it would be an offence, but thats an offence if youre eating or not! Thanks for the concern but it's all good. It's a very common, normal and not an offence to drive and eat or drink if you're not being an idiot while doing it 😊👍Have a lovely Christmas too! ✨️🤩
@@BenandEmily As far as British Law YOU are correct - Cross the channel though and you will be in serious trouble, the EU have a LAW about the subject. It is agreed there that eating is dangerous, in case of Choking. How could you have a Heindrick Manoeuvre to relieve the choking at 70mph? Now that would be a very final thing! As one musician/vanner to another we live in Harmony and await the introduction of autonomous vans. Thank you for you eagle eye!! John
Rather concerned that you are still buying "low fat" products , B & E😮.. Plenty of evidence-based 1st grade research out there. Get reading:). P.S. Also, Alan emailed me to say that she doesn't want to be adopted if you become ill,; so you had better sort yourselves out ☺. Thanks, as always for a lovely video.
Great video guys, as always thank you for sharing and taking us along with you, glad you both had a wonderful day out, much love
Well done Emily. Vertigo isn’t fun. You faced your fear on that path. I would have crawled too.
Beautiful countryside.
loving the Alan CatNav
😻
I love Allen❣️She is such a trooper, a perfect road buddy😊 Good job Emily facing the fears, I was a psychotherapist for 30 years and can guarantee you you can overcome it by just what you did, desensitization. The trick is to not take on too much, but enough, each time. Eventually you have overcome.Bless you guys!💫
Hi guys thanks for sharing your experience. I can understand the vertigo - it seems really exposed. Good on Emily for managing her reaction.
