Hi Guys The story about the boat in the field is that a Farm Labourer wanted to keep his boat on the canal , but the CRT said that he had to pay the licence fee ,so the farmer dug a trench onto his land floated the boat in and refilled the trench it looks as though he has Expanded his Home.Cheers

“The Swan” by Edgar Alan Cat:
“While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my narrow boat door.
“’Tis some visitor,” I muttered, “tapping at my narrow boat door-
    Only this and nothing more.”

The night swan was hilarious. I could see how that could freak you out Emily. What a sassy little pest! The curtains look awesome. You look so intellectual with your glasses on Benny. Some very interesting buildings in Stratford Upon Avon. Beautiful! So neat to see Ula and Josh in your video. I follow them too. That was one narrow lock there. How stressful! The Toad-in-the-Hole looked delicious. Cheers!

Another beautiful vlog. Great music, scenery and wild life. I used to be a student of English Literature many years ago. The school took us us to Stratford to see Hamlet, performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company. The stage was made in the shape of a coffin lid. It was awesome. Rumour back in the day was that Queen Elizabeth Tudor had an illegitimate son. His name was William Shakespeare according to conspirators. His writings were used to send secret messages to collaborators. All mysterious and fascinating. Be brave you lovely people and carry on the adventurous work. Lots of ❤ from Arizona 🇺🇸.

I think the boat in the field was once parked on the canal in front of the boat owners land and they had “discussions” and “disagreements” with the canal authorities. So they moved it into that location close to the canal, but out of the authorities perview.
A protest of sorts, or spite - either way it makes me smile.
There might be more than one boat in a similar circumstance, and I could be totally wrong but I have heard the above story told.

Great vid. We love the Oxford canal. We got stuck in 3 or 4 locks on the South Oxford in April 2022. CRT had to come and get us out of one because someone's fender got jammed behind the gate. We have taken our fenders off now and just use the ones that hook on the handrail. Fenders are only of any use when moored up. We spent a week at Fenny Compton and a week at Cropredy marina (great faciiities there).

Gotta love a good veggie roast! We made some sweet potato fries in our propane oven and half of them turned blackened, it’s happens! Also, night swan would freak me out a little too, Emily! As always, love the music throughout out the video, Benny, and awesome curtains!!! I think it’s great you have Rambler. Artists (musicians included of course) need to have a space of their own where they can spread out and create. Your musical offerings are a gift to the world. I’m so happy you both made the choice to support Benny in his artistry through an extra creative space. The curtains look great from the outside, too!
Oh, great job getting the fender out. It’s hard to remember to do it all! Emily, I would be stressed too, but the way you identify and work through your stress is very admirable, and I hope to be more like you in this regard.
Your New Years Meal looks SO GOOD! This American wants to try a veggie Toad in a Hole!
Saturdays are so much better now that we are all caught up on your episodes and can watch your new videos as they come out! Thank you two for sharing your light with us! Happy happy new year and thousands of cheers to your new ventures!!🎉
P.S. Emily, when you show affection to Benny in the form of a little head nuzzle, or saying “Sweetie” it’s SO CUTE and I love to see y’all’s love! 🫶🏻
    With love,
    Momo

    Happy New Year.
Normally Yorkshire puds - and Toad in the Hole are done in a metal tray - to maximise heat. Put plenty of oil in the tin(s) and get them to smoking hot before adding the batter (and sausage if Toad in the Hole). Do not open the oven while they are still cooking - they will sink. It does look like you maybe had too much mixture for the size of the container too - so you will end up with it being doughy. (I personally like them to be a tiny bit doughy in the middle). You are right in that there is no such thing as too much gravy with them. Treat the gravy like you would soup - pour on in there!
Druids and new year. I always thought that the first day they spotted the sun was not sinking anymore and was therefore coming back was the date they used - Stonehenge sun spotting etc.
    Tim and Jalika, Malaysia.

I’ve been to the Butterfly Farm, it’s lovely it’s a shame you didn’t get there in time, there’s lots of other interesting places to visit in the area too. So cool to see Stratford again , tks . Shakespeare's mom , Anne Hathaway , lived just outside Stratford.
was looking for river pics of the Avon :-)
You think it is cold now ? In 1963 the river froze over , super slides !
Also the place where Gordon Ramsey sort of grew up , his Mom had a place there .
Also home to the RSC , great place to see the play you are studying at O / A level .
Hmm a mooring , settling down , while not :-) Great to have a base to work from , can have the van close !
Em , do not forget your wellies again .
I could see ben liked his yorkshire pud at Xmas :-)
The toad in the hole looked good and crispy , if a little heavy :-)
My 5 p worth , oil has to be smoking before you add the batter .

That narrow boat in the 'hollow ' was up for sale a few years ago and I went to look at it but from the pictures I didn't realise that it wasn't on the canal, the owner wasn't there as there was some 'rent issue' so I was told and let in by the broker he couldn't tell be why it was in the 'hollow' I didn't buy it because it was too costly to remove it over the field and back in the canal. Funny its still there 😂 all the best for 2024🎉🎉🎉

Hi guys, when you take rambler out of the water you need to put a slight keel underneath her. That way you won’t have too much of an issue like flat bottom boats just get pushed around it only has to be 3 to 4 inches
