- Al Swearengen, searching for the person who stole his dope shipment, interviews Jimmy the dope fiend. It's like watching a cat play with mouse before killing it. Listen to that evil purr when he says,"Leon....that's right". Ian McShane is a f***** genius!
the way milch writes drug addicts with the obviousness of their lies and their endless ability to desecrate themselves is powerful. he writes it so matter of factly that i think a person in recovery might find it a tough watch.
100% agree. Ian McShane/Al Swearangen is what made Deadwood work, he is the glue that holds everything together. Amazing character, the best in TV history.
the guy playing jimmy did a hell of a job, he's the perfect weasel. love that line" Im gonna crawl sir I shouldnt stand.

Al seems to have a peculiar sense of synesthesia. When he hears a lie, he smells catpiss. He's like a human lie-detector.
I mean... can we agree that Jimmy was solid as a fucking rock for the first half of this?

The whole 'cat piss smell' routine has me rolling. Then top it off with 'throw yourself of the balcony and stay in the muck till I come down' ROFL LMAO. OMG Al is awesome.
Ian mcshane is easily one the best actors out there today… a master

"get your shit smeared arse off my balcony" what a hilarious scene. The great Ian McShane is simply brilliant here as Al.
"I'm just gonna roll forward so I don't get trampled." is to me the funniest part of the whole scene. I don't know exactly how to describe it.
The way Al say “You sh*T yourself!!” with that sneer on his face is comedy gold!
