- We compare the Xperia XZ3's camera tech with the Huawei P20 Pro, to see if Sony's latest flagship produces better quality photos and videos in all conditions.
The Sony Xperia XZ3 rocks just a single lens camera, a 19MP lens with f/2.0 aperture and Exmor RS sensor - just like the Xperia XZ2 before it. Meanwhile the Huawei P20 Pro boasts three lenses in one, including a 40MP primary snapper and 8MP telephoto lens with OIS.
The Xperia XZ3 can shoot detailed photos in a range of conditions, plus 4K HDR video and Super Slow Mo at Full HD resolution. In comparison, the P20 Pro offers just 4K level video without HDR smarts, and Super Slow Mo at just 720p. However, Huawei's phone excels at crafting rich and attractive photos with the Vivid Colours mode, while its Portrait mode is great for family shots.

You are not alone. I have big hopes for next year. 48MP, 5G, on their high end music player they just released a new "AI" powered version of the DSXEE. Hopefuly they will have a proper 4K pOLED screan ready. Go Sony, go go go! :)

Finally... Someone speaking my language... As a photographer (probably like yourself)... A single lens can do it all, but 3 lenses...really?, Like Microsoft/Nokia proved with the 950XL and the Pixel 2 /3xl.. photography is about light and composition, not lenses and MegaPixels...bi loved the XZ2, just as i love my XZ3 camera... Sadly, people dont want to make the effort and work at something anymore... they want it all done for them, handed on a platter with no effort... So when it goes wrong, they can blame someone /0something else without responsibility... The XZ3 aint perfect, but with a little effort the camera is stunning
@@NightOrchids yes actually and even when we are talking about low light photography most of the phones are working on software baised images not taking more light from the source ending up with grey sky and very bad colors production while pushing the iso is what should be done people blame sony that they are not good in low light but sony knows what photography is about and their professional cameras proves that..
It's amazing how Sony Xperia has been making the best SMARTPHONES in the last few years !!! Even in numbers, Xperias may seem smaller by having only one camera and less Mega Pixel but the Superiority of the image that is real rather than images washed by post processing!
The colors, contrasts, sharpness, brilliance, quality and details of the Xperia images surpass with a large scale the competitors!

P20 is an Instagram device. Xperia is for adults who wants a reliable device that's always up to date.
I think the reason Sony is so set on not putting dual cameras on their phones is because they have a sizable market for their DSLRs and Mirrorless cameras. They'd undoubtedly lose some customers in that market if they went all out on smartphone cameras. I would bet their smartphone cameras will always lag behind to keep their DSLR/Mirrorless market a premium choice for photography.

Single lens is more than just enough..but,like always people will said sony is always behind others
They cant get ahead of the competition, they make too much money from their lenses. Samsung and apple uses them, if Sony beats them they lose business. The Xperia line up are great phones especially their flagship. I know beacause I used Apple, and Samsung. I missed my Sony Z5 premium because it was tough and refused to slow down even with it running out of memory. Pictures are true to life, I have an S8 for 3 months and it already froze on me plenty of times. Sony also looks so much better. I would put both side by side and by far Sony has beautiful design. The curve on S8 is annoying more than anything. Typing is also a pain, Sony has better keypad amd has predictive typing.
It is hard for me to not agree..yet people still keep complaining about bezels..lols..

@@papavalesRS you also have pro mode on sony phones.. if you are really into photos you get a proper camera.. im not against ai in phones but the p20 just gets ridiculous with the push of saturation and artificial artifacts, photos just dont look good at all, but i gess some people like it.. i dont know..
Hey Chris, just to correct things xz3 has built in Bokeh mode on the rear camera as well. Do check it and change it in your review. I heard that the rear camera Bokeh is quite better than the front camera Bokeh and matches most of the flagship portrait modes

I am a Sony Xperia XX User and been using only Sony phones. Am due for a new phone and had set my eyes on the magnificent Huawei p20 pro. Now wondering how XZ3 with a single camera can hold up! Now my choice will get harder! I really want the Huawei's 3 cameras ...
The XZ3 is way better in my opinion, offering better colors among other things.
It's less versatile, but the picture quality is on top, and you can actually use it when shooting videos, the 4K samples of the Huawei besides being shaky, have way too much over saturated colors!

And by far, the Mate 10 pro's cameras make the XZ2 look 2 generations behind.

P20 Pro takes it. Sony did put up a fight, but the sheer photo quality, low light, night pictures and the zoom of P20 Pro, unbeatable. Good job, Huawei. Still a champ!

I don't mention iPhone but even iPhone gives you 4gb ram and OIS nowadays.
It has a single camera without OIS but it's up there with the best. It has smallish battery but great autonomy. It has just 4GB RAM but it runs butter smooth. It starts from €800, which is less than what the S9 cost when it was new.
It would perform better with OIS especially in low light. How do you know the camera is the best? Do you have it and compare it with other flagships this year? It has a smaller battery than those thinner phones. It has just 4GB ram but Sony provides 6GB version for Asian market.
@@krush0905the camera got reviewed by both PhoneArena and GSMArena and it got great reviews. I do own an XZ2 and the battery life is the best I ever had on a smartphone, so I expect that the XZ3, that comes with a slightly bigger battery and a potentially more frugal OLED display should one-up my phone in battery life. This was also confirmed by GSMArena that found the XZ3 to last marginally longer than the XZ2.

Who knows? Considering though that the XZ3 made the switch to OLED display and there is no OLED 4K display yet (Xperia Premiums always have a 4K display as a trademark feature), I'd think that Sony won't be releasing a new Premium for some time. On top of that, the XZ2 Premium is also brand new, so a successor so soon would be very weird.

I think it did and they say we need tele for zooming. The secret is if your software is good and for everything in the camera, then you will be great and that's why Sony and Nokia used bigger megapixels for zooming
