We are itching to plant in mid Michigan as well. We have garlic shoots coming up and strawberry leaves that overwintered. I can't wait for the chives to make Pesto with.

Hi Annette. I’ve had luck with over entering my herbs here. This is what I did last winter and this past winter. I bought glass cake domes and glass candle hurricanes at the thrift stores. I cover them with those them in December I cover the glass domes with I plastic bucket or a double layer of white environments cloth. I’ve uncovered the top layer at the beginning of March and in April I will take the other layer off. If that makes sense.
In Michigan they always died during the winter. It’s a little milder here and winter is shorter.
