Hi Jill. My name is Cheryl and I took the class that you and Kaylee put together. I'm just starting my journey. I've planted a bunch of different medicinal herb seed packets, and most of my babies are up. I'm excited to try and learn each of them, but especially tulsi, marshmallow, stinging nettle, and motherwort., oh and anise hyssop. Thank you to both you and Kaylee for all your hard work.
And the herbs I’m growing this year: mint, echinacea, holy basil, sage, camomile, calendula… and I need videos PLEASE on how to utilize them. LOVE YOUR CONTENT JILL ❤
I got a few different mints (my fav), I just recently got some starts for lavender, basil, sage volunteered in my garden. Trying to grow chamomile for first time. My lemon came back also from last season. Still need to add in more but good start so far.
I have loved building my herb/flower bed. I put it where I spend the most time. It brings me so much joy. And the smells! So wonderful. This year is: basil, sage, chamomile, mint, lemon balm, calendula, stevia, and toothache plant. I add in cosmos and zinnias for height and color. My lavender failed and I need to get my hands on some tulsi seeds for next year. I may still get some coneflower and yarrow starts. I can’t believe I’m saying this… but I love it more then my veggie garden.
I love stinging nettle, osha, and licorice root. Stinging nettle by far is my favorite. I got in a car accident years ago and had flare ups of pain in my neck and shoulders. I stung myself with the leaves and it brought so much relief to that area. Definitely not for everyone but I believe it helps. Also with thyroid issues in my family I’ve drank it as a tea when I started having symptoms and high tsh antibodies. I reversed my numbers with that and cutting out gluten. I just reintroduced gluten after 6 years gluten free and don’t over do it. I do believe it causes thyroid problems. I hope you can keep your thyroid symptoms at bay and use herbs to aid in that process.
I too was gluten free for 8 years and recently started reintroducing it. Like you I don’t overdo. I’ve come to believe it was actually the pesticides/ herbicides in the non organic gluten products that probably caused my issues. Now I only use organic flour and make sourdough bread..I have no problem eating it. I also only eat Italian slow dried pasta. How about you?
I have chronic pain due to a accident. I'm now in the middle of self herbal medicating due to lack of prescription medicine not addressing the problem. I'm sure there must be something alternative that will work , I just haven't found it yet. Your experience caught my interest , as I have used supplements in conjunction with pain relief , for years.and natural has to be better. Thankyou for sharing your knowledge. 😊
I love lemon verbina. ..I take a few leaves maybe 4 or 5 put them in a bottle of water and it doesn't take long for it to infuse your water... so good.😃
THANK YOU! 😊 I’m so excited to chat herbs with you since I took an herbal course last year. I’m into growing a wider variety of herbs this garden year, dehydrating as needs, using fresh as can, and formulating teas that I put into bags or seasoned honey or body products that I can give away as gifts to friends, family and coworkers. So far everyone loves a free gift at random times - cheers up the mood instantly. 😊
I sprouted some moringa trees this year.. I'm so excited about them..also valerian, catnip, tulsi, rosemary, thyme, calindula, chammomile, marshmellow, hyssop, lemon grass, lemon balm, sage, lambs ear, yarrow, comfrey, mints, oregano..
Excellent choices! I've been involved in herbs for a decade. Started when diagnosed with MS, which, through an herbal healer, was gone in 7 months. Just one thing..Peppermint and Echinacea are hybrid herbs. The human body is alkaline so the food and drink going into it should also be alkaline.
I love diffusing rosemary. My favorite combo lately is rosemary, cedar wood and lime. It’s so good! I’m growing every one your list except lemon verbena. I’d like to try that. I also have oregano, thyme and lots of other more culinary herbs growing.
Yes! I am creating a new flower bed that contains medicinal herbs. I already have several that you mentioned, and have used Calendula for a lovely salve. I appreciate this type of content!
I love lavrnder 🎉i I diffuse it at night time for a peaceful..relaxing sleep. Peppermint too is another favorite of mine so good for digestive issues.❤😊
Love this video. I’ve grown herbs for years, with the intent to make stuff with them….. but then just don’t. It is on my summer bucket list to use my herbs this year!!
The Herbal Academy is great! I completed their introductory course and it was so much fun! I’m getting ready to start their Intermediate course. I’m actually growing all the herbs you mentioned this year plus a few more! 💛🌱💛
I'm loving these courses. They are so fascinating and I can't wait to put my knowledge into practice. I'm thinking of starting a Facebook group. Would you be interested?
Love this information. I don’t have any of those growing as I didn’t know what or how to use them. I will be saving this video for future reference. As for the Calendula, will you be doing a video on how to make salves or tinctures? That would be really awesome & helpful for me for next year. Have a blessed day 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️💕👩🏻🌾
I am growing .Coco mint, pepper mint, Limon bolm, echinacea, basil, mulen, plantain, perslan, marrygos, dandelions, yarow, dasys, got more but have a hard time spelling them.😋
The herbs I’m growing this year: mint, holy basil, sage, camomile, calendula, mullen, comfrey, and a few more I can't remember without looking. Love your videos.
I love your channel and your new Cottage Garden! This was especially interesting for me as I'm taking a 4-hr class tomorrow on Nutritive Herbs + Making Herbal Vinegar. I'm looking forward to your next posts!
Love this content! Plus I trust your info so yes more please.i grow lemon balm, mint rosemary, lavender, calendula, and king of bitters. I also have rue that my parents used to infuse grappa. There are many “wise tales” so me personally I I would greatly appreciate information that is factually/scientifically based ❤ I also have a large volunteer mullein plant that I have no idea what to do with 😂
I love growing herbs. I have 8 different types of Mints, Lavender, Holy Basil, Lemongrass, Catnip, Lemon Balm, Sweet Basil, Sage, Chives, Rosemary, Parsley, Thyme, Tarragon, German Chamomile, and Borage.
I'm growing sage, 3 types. Rosemary, many, for hedges. Oregano, parsley, thyme many, lemon balm, mints many, echanacia, lavender for hedges, bay tree. I've just started a pottager garden. Up until now it has been a cooks garden. I'm expanding into a few veg , seedlings .but really want to do medicinal herbs. That is really my thing. Let the fun begin!
I have been start my marketing job with the herb like aloe vera I love this plant and using aloe jel for my self and also making herbal tea at my small tea stall at my home I am looking to grow all type of medicinal herbs to easily get it at my region and also planning to sell and promote the health of the people and get them into the natural remedies life I belongs to India and I am planning to grow local medicinal herbs first in this concern I would I expect some videos from you medam thanking you
I'm focusing on the medicinals just like you this year! I did a huge seed haul from Strictly Medicinal: White Mojntain Sage (hopefully it will grow successfully here if i baby it a little) Comfrey, Arnica Meadow (will hopefully grow here in Central Arkansas better than its more commonly known variety, Montana), valerian, wormwood, witch hazel, chicory, enugreek, bergamot (specifically for tea), evening primrose, skullcap, mullein and of course the usual suspects you listed. It's a lot.
I’ve got all the basils 🤣, lemon balm, calendula and sage. I’ve tried for 3 years now with chamomile, lavender and rosemary. Chamomile has always been a bust and the lavender usually dies at some point, as does the rosemary. I’ve tried to sow my own seeds with no luck. I’m going to just sow a clamshell of chamomile and hope for the best. The same for the rosemary. I have 7 lavender plants I sowed from seed that are still a bit tiny. I’m so afraid to even attempt transition them over. 😂I sowed holy basil but it looks nothing like the one you showed in the photo. They are seeds from 2 separate brands. Idk why my leaves appear to be bigger and a bit deeper green. I’ll have to look into that! My echinacea never pops up. I’ve run through to seed packs and still I got nothing. I have no idea where I’m going wrong.😢 Thanks for sharing and being such a wealth of knowledge and information! 💜
Thanks for such a great video, i am new to using herbs an got a few from serenity herbal an this will be a great content to help me in this new life style.
I wonder if there’s a difference between the different lavenders. I’ve found that the French lavender which I think is the common one sold in our big box stores and a lot of the nurseries. What I’ve found that works well in our climate is the Spanish lavender. I’ll have to look to make sure, but I’ve tried growing lavender since I started gardening and only came across the Spanish one last year. I had no hopes for it but it’s been prolific in the raised bed this year and about to have some flowers soon!! I’m excited for it. It came back through the cold and while there were some that died, it is doing fantastic!
@Julieagain lavender oil is great on burns. And it doesn't burn when you apply it to your skin. Make sure it's grade A oil. 100%and nothing cut into it. Should only be lavender in the bottle. I recommend young living oils.
These videos are good, but there’s a book called The Hidden Herbs by Anette Ray, which shows you how to really activate the healing properties of natural herbs.
I don’t ever comment, but I had to on this one… If anyone is interested in natural remedies, do yourself a favor and find The Hidden Herbs by Anette Ray.
I love it! Thank you! I am talking to my hubby about joining the academy ❤ I have a lot of culinary and medicinal herbs that I started from seed this year. Some things aren’t doing to well but we shall see 🩵

It’s kinda crazy how none of these guys are talking about The Hidden Herbs by Anette Ray.
This is such great info Jill! Please do some videos to show us how you turn these herbs into salves, teas, etc.
Omg just get on with it

Phenomenal lavender. I’m in central arkansas and it’s the only lavender I can keep alive in this heat and humidity.

How do you grow horseradish?
You can buy roots from the grocery store and plant them in the spring or there’s several places online to order
Any suggestions for a chemical burn? So far the only help I’ve found is ice packs
Vinegar neutralizes the burn. Corn starch or arrowroot powder will help keep the burn dry so the scab can grow over.
