I love that he brings up a balance between Artistic Enjoyment and the Scientific “Correctness.” It might be “correct” but does it take away from the art? Finding and adapting a final mix with both in mind can really help.

Ohhh I have one of them pickups in my customised SG. They are so good! I sometimes layer them with my rare 90’s Gibson cinnamon bursts Tom Anderson pickups H3+ If I had to have one pickup I’d have juggernauts, they have the clarity of a PAF but pUsh gain channels in a really heavy and usable way. that SG it’s in the bridge in the neck I have a BK stormy Monday.

The only area I use top down mixing is with rock drums. Misha is totally right about the commercial samples not being as bright as needed in a finished mix so I find it useful in that sense. Though I wouldn't use it when producing found or lofi drums / percussion. Great explanation here 👍

    • @Producelikeapro

It's where you start off with the Master Bus/Fader with Compression, EQ, Multi Band Compression, Limiting etc already loaded on then you mix into it!

I am sure this is a debate starter and not sure how much you use Logic or if pro tools is the same way.
When bouncing a mix down. Is it better to bounce in real time or offline?

    • @Producelikeapro
