I really love this anime but I wish Shaft tried harder on it. To be honest they rushed the ending and the animation in Ayano's Theory of Happiness was awkward to watch, but then they made the better blu-ray version, and everything was redrawn and recolored. Although I wish they would make an OVA or maybe even a second season soon. The opening is good though.

Shintaro is hiding from the world so the opening reflects that and how he changes at the end by going outside, as shown by the clear blue skies at the end. Now, Momo, being more upbeat and spunky, her opening has more color and more light. Yet, with her backstory, that might have to do with why there are scenes set in the evening. There are more things I want to add to the statement, but for now, that's my base theory on why the openings differ. If the third opening is also different, then it really might be talking about the characters.

I like version 2 because the shading in it is more similar to the unique shading in the actual show. However, I could also say that the 1st version is better because the colors and background are more simple like the show, so I think it just depends on preference.

Blu-Ray versions give them a lot more time to make everything much better, but who has the patience to wait for those?
Yazumi Misora Just because it has 12 episodes doesn't excuse it. There are tons of great anime that had just as many episode as this, and were still able to tell a coherent story. When laying out the story, they should have known that it couldn't fit in 12 episodes. In order to fix it they needed to adjust everything, so it can fit well into a 12 episode format beforehand.
haha SHAFT has this habit of doing complete OP makeovers (compare: the darker first verion of the Nadeko Medusa arc vs. the more pastel second version, which was much closer to its Renai Circulation predecessor) tho for me it works really well here since the OP was used as an ED on the first episode from what I could remember, and the scrolling text would have been virtually invisible on the more complex BGs of the second version of the OP :0
To be fair. V2 Have alot of tone color that make felt of shadow layer rather than V1 that less color tone but it all full with the bright and colorful one. Especially the wild blue sky of V1. that alway make me reach the hand to it. While V2 it felt like a Paint rather than real wild blue sky.
Although I do think the openings portray some of what's happening in the story as it goes along, I would like the first version more if it had the same background when they're showing the characters in sequence as in the second version. And including the "Let's xxxx" on the screen when it happen in the song would be nice. Oh well.

As some one who read (more recently) and watched the anime, both are worth your time have no regards of that. the manga is much more worth your time and actually takes more a of a greek perspective IMO then the anime. both are great but the manja perspective is worth your time to proceeded whats happening on within it, I originally viewed the anime but would personally never watch the anime over the manja. thats no bashing on the studio in charge but with time limitation and allowed episodes/time I would say your time is worth the manja. cheers, from NC.

To this day I don't understand why they changed this scene 0:56. I prefer V1, it's faster so it feels more impactful and Hibiya is more expressive.
In my opinion V1 has the better darker stuff while V2 did the cheery and colorful stuff better.
