I remember being so desperate for work experience in hospital that i bought an NHS lanyard and walked into my main acute trust onto the cardiothorasics ward asking random nurses questions etc eventually i got called up by the main pharmacist asking who i was i said i need experience and pleaded my case to him. He was so impressed by my determination to bypass ward security messures i did 6 months of experience work and secured an interview 😂. If you're reading this plesse dont do what i did as i could have got into major trouble but morel of the story is showing up and proving your enthusiastic and driven

I’m a pharmacy tech and I currently work at a community health pharmacy and I don’t like it, so I applied to the hospital in my city (not expecting to get in) and they hired me! I applied to the hospital twice. I wasn’t ready the first time, but the second time I was and found out it was exactly what I wanted (hours, benefits, etc.) I start soon and I’m so glad I had gotten the courage to apply (even though interviews scare me haha.)

Hi there, just wanted to say that you helped me quite a lot with getting a job (as a pharmacist obv) in a private hospital! Some of your tips and advice had been great (especially the apixaban video, veeeery useful as one of the questions was based on that)!! Thanks a lot xx

I love your videos, honestly they're incrediblely informative and entertaining to watch! Would you be able to do a video on preparation for OSCE's? I have my 4th Year OSCE in a month and it would be helpful to know what I'm in for. Maybe show/tell us some of the stations you got at university for your OSCE?

Thanks for your comment! Ummmmm if I am honest I am not the greatest at OSCEs myself so I would lack confidence in making a video about it, but if in future (through my diploma) I learn more about how to be good in OSCEs then I will for sure upload!!!

Thanks for making this vid. I'm still on the fence about moving over to hospital 🏥 from community (about 9 months into my pre reg atm, so i maybe even too late to the application cut off!). I'm just scared of the notion to be thrown into a whole different work environment! I know I maybe saying something incorrect but I feel like community and hospital is black and white - the underlying clinical knowledge will be able to cross transferred (maybe not the Palliative care medicines, or the more serious ones for those under chronic bed care...if that makes sense 😅) but I won't be able to even know what the proper serum potassium levels are in a blood report! Or....if the CrCl of a renally Impaired pt is normal or not. I keep telling myself that it's a learning process so this is something I'll have to just push through and learn on the job (and self teach). God I even feel nervous to speak to the consultants!

I still feel nervous and scared talking to other members of the healthcare team, but you can only get better if you keep on trying! Don't worry and there's no better time to start learning than now! x

I did my pre reg last year in community pharmacy after I completely messed up my oriel interview then got a job in industry as soon as I qualified. It is not that difficult to do that transition.

@@andrewau1996 hiya! Sorry for the late response I didnt see this message. Research what sector in industry you would like to get into 1st (med affairs, pharmacovigilance etc) get a LinkedIn and network! Message pharmacists that have done this transition look at their page what steps did they do to get their foot in the door. Get any industry experience! I messaged a few small companies during my pre reg so I can shadow for a few days which looked great on a cv. Also (dependent on what area of industry you want) go for online courses like medical information training/ pharmacovigilance courses to put this on your CV. Look out for graduate schemes during your pre reg there are sooooooo many ! It's such a shame universities do not say anything about this! And just keep being persistent it may take some time but if you keep knocking the door will be opened! RUclips Wenite there is a few videos of pharmacists that have made the jump to industry they give alot of helpful tips and tricks also! And the main this is you must pass your pre reg!!!! A qualified pharmacist in industry is a very good asset for a company to have as they can be a final signatory... sorry I know this is very top line and not too much detail but I hope this helps abit!!!All the best and good luck with your pre reg!!!

Do you have any advise for someone who is about to start their pharmacy course (me) please. I start my MPharm degree this month as a first year. Is there anything I can do to make sure by the time its 3rd or 4th year I have a pre-reg placement at a hospital pharmacy?? I really want one in a hospital pharmacy, clinical is 100% where I belong. • @safooyaahmed7725

Yes it is, inpatient pharmacy is more clinical and involves carrying out ward rounds whereas outpatients is less clinical (some say it’s like a busy community Pharmscy in hospital ) there is some clinical aspect in outpatient pharmacy ( e.g screening outpatient prescriptions) but definitely less clinical and less career progression than inpatient pharmacy.

So basically to get into a hospital pharmacy in UK you dont need a course like a uni specialization? ( i’m italian thats why im asking cause here in Italy after your degree in pharmacy school you must do 4 years of school specialization)
