Hi Mark you are best photographer💯❤
Everyone take whatever kind of photos you want however you want to, there's no rules when it's you who's pointing the cameras eyes to capture whatever. If you want different results or have a certain goal for your photos, then adjust accordingly and perhaps take in some of these tips he mentioned. They aren't bad tips at all, but the photography world is free reign. There's so many "cliche'" and creative styles out there.
So true! Photography is all about the meaning and purpose the photo has to you. For example a grainy photo of my grandpa might be the most amazing photo I own. However, when it comes to taking aesthetic photos that are pleasing to others as well, sometimes it helps to know some rules... then of course we can break them later haha ;)
i mean that is not call mistakee!!
This needs more likes
Great advice! We just did a critique on really old travel photos and found out some of these huge mistakes!
WOW! Thanks for sharing. Great tips and very useful.
Great tips Mark - I wish I'd seen this before my big trip to New Zealand! Love following you and Jon around the world.
Alyson Gair haha I’m sure your photos are great none the less! NZ is amazing 🙌
Great video! I will definitely use these tips during my summer holidays! Cheers!
thanks for the one you said 'don't avoid being tourist'-y. I like the idea that tourist spots are amazing for a good reason! it's true!
Totally right, sometimes it's annoying that there's so many people, but they're so amazing!
love this content!
try to be creative , get your drone up .... ha ha ha :D
fikaso 😂😂 I meant get your racing drone up 😜😅
Great tips! Thanks for sharing, I’m slowly learning to take better photos not just with my phone so I appreciate these tips :)

Inspiring,thanks bro for your tips
I’m traveling by myself 9 hours away to National Park.I was so confused of how to make travel photos/videos, and this was so helpful! 🤙🏽
Awesome! Good luck out there :)
Great NordVPN description. Many RUclipsrs don't even know how to describe it. Also, great photos man!👍
Agree on avoiding touristy. I am impressed on people being able to get nice photos despite a lot of people. It means they invested trying to find good angle or waited a perfect time.
Guilty with bringing a lot of equipments. It usually just gives me an achy back.
I am an after-sunset guy trying to wait for the burst of light, usually rays and clouds burning.
Haha nice man, we're all guilty of over packing from time to time haha
Very helpful - thanks for posting this.
vinyalonde 🤜🤛
“Put some drone in the air” Bro let me borrow your drone!!
Derek Lawrey haha cmon over! But you can get a good drone for soooo cheap these days

Great video man! :) keep up the awesome work, cheers!

It's very rare to get such insightful tips man. It was new. It was creative.

Great tips, I have been a photographer for around 40 years and much of this will never change, but maybe we can hope.
Johnny Ray's Digital Nomad Lifestyle haha yep fair enough 😂

Traveling Manila with Jorden soon?
Be nice you guys crash the party with Ave/Martin next month!
Alfred Guinto I would love to crash the party! However, I’m not sure we’ll be able to unfortunately :(
I adopt the system that if I like it I will take it. For me it helps tell me a story which is what I want.
Astonishing 🎉
You have a unique coloured pair of eyes: pretty
3:09 , that is in estonia, thats crazy cool!
Oh my god. Your eyes are gorgeous! 👀👌🏻
:)
you look like Grizmann. Useful vid, ty!
haha Yes antionne! If only I could play soccer like him haha
Six weeks in Barcelona. Yes, I did the "castle and cathedral" tour but most of my work turned out to be graffiti, street art and demonstrations.
Awesome! Getting that underground beauty
I don't understand people leaving after golden hour either. Usually I take the most photos after the sun is gone.
#6 is my guilty pleasure 🙃 I TRY, I really do, to keep it minimal, especially for long, technical hikes, but there's always that "if I leave this behind, what if I really DO 'need' it??" & it's a slippery slope from there 😂!
Thankfully my gear is minimal anyways, just 1 camera body + 2 lenses [+ the gopro], I find it's mostly the accessories that weigh you down: tripod, filters, extra batteries, battery packs to charge batteries (if needed), all the damn gopro doo-dads 🙄 lol
Karyleiana WildernesScapes hahaha so true, so tempting to bring it all under the “what if” pretense. Sometime I like bringing no bag at all, just the camera and see how I can remain creative with it... not often though haha 😜
@@MarkHarrison4 I say it on every strenuous hike: "I miss the hiking days when I wasn't into photography, life was much simpler then..." 😂 & it's mostly bc I'm the only photog in my group of hiking friends & they just carry a bag for water/snacks & that's it 😱 I envy that lol!
Just this past wknd, I ALMOST "what if" myself into packing my (very small & lightweight) 55-300mm, it's about 1lb...but *14 miles & 14 HOURS* later of bushwhacking, trailblazing in knee-deep mud bogs, valleys & streams, I was thanking every deity in the universe that I didn't pack anything else on that day hike 🙏🏽😅! I had my dslr, but only took ONE shot with it, everything else was just gopro & smartphone 🙃 #TheStruggle 🤣
That could be a future vlog challenge: camera + 1 lense, no bag (or no extra gear/accessories in bag; I wont deprive you of water/snacks haha) & see, as you said, how creative you can get 😎📸🙌🏽.
great video
ann edwards cheers 🍻
I agree 💯%
Very nice ❤
MARIAM KENSOUSS thanks Miriam
Touristy spots are great. Just bring an ND filter and take a long exposure photo. It wont matter how crowded the place looks like, it will look empty due to the movement of the people/crowd :-)
Andre Rahmer haha great point 🙌
LOL this is us, taking lots of gears underwater, biking or hiking :$
Niice ❤❤❤
:)
Should I also shoot photos in flat foto profile like s log?
Great tips! Thanks a lot.
I’m kindly asking, could you do mobile photography tutorials next time.
I'll try and get this one done eventually, lots in the making!
@@MarkHarrison4 Waiting....
Blue hour is the best hour
Totally agree
Love from karachi😍😍😍😍
Thanks for all the insight, but isn't the hour at sunset more suitably referred to as golden hour, with its golden/reddish tones? My understanding is that blue hour is the period around sunrise, where the bluish tones are more prevalent.
Stephen Singleterry hey Stephen, you can google it if you like... however golden hour is that last hour the sun is in the sky and it’s absolutely amazing to shoot in... with lovely shadows and golden skin tones, you’re absolutely right. However blue hour begins just after the sun has cross then horizon and yes has bluish tones however if there’s clouds in the sky then you can get the best looking colours ever. It’s my personal favourite time to shoot landscapes. Golden is better for portraits
@@MarkHarrison4 Thanks for the in depth explanation. That helps my understanding of this greatly.
There's two golden hours. The "hour" before sunset and the "hour" after sunrise (hour in quotes because its not always an hour, it'll vary depending on latitude and season). There are also two blue hours, the "hour" after sunset and the "hour before sunrise (although in those case it is more like half an hour and this also varies by latitude and season). So ideally you want to get to places an hour before either sunset or sunrise and stay and hour after sunset or sunrise in order to get the best light.
Hi !! How did you match the videos? (two of you) :)
Your bod in the shower though, looking clean!
Bagel Ben lol just finished rinsing off the soap 🧼
The photo in that blue city, was it in Chefchaoun Morocco?
yessss
Thank u from morrocco
Meryem Ahmid 🤜🤛
@@MarkHarrison4 😍
1. Not exploring the full scene. My definition of it
2. Same thing
3. Make sure subject has room
4. Don’t leave after golden hour is this considered dusk
5. Make sure subject is right
6. Don’t bring too much gear
7. Over or under editing
8. Don’t brag about your photography
Hi Mark, just one question from me - Do we need to pay attention on histogram before we take photo?
Good question! Typically I don't, but I know people who do to make sure their exposures are on point. I think that just from shooting lots, I've got to understand expsoure well enough
@@MarkHarrison4 having said that, do you mean that if we know the exposure well, then we do not need to pay attention on histogram. But if we're not sure on our exposure setting, we might need to see the histogram. There are many professional photographers are giving tips on how important not to ignore the histogram before taking photo. But for me, sometimes it works, but sometimes not.
Paying attention to the histogram means that you don't lose any information in your shadows and highlights. If you pay close attention sure it helps, but eventually you shouldn't need to, you should be used to taking photos on your camera and exposing properly.
@@MarkHarrison4 thanks for the tips Mark!
this video made me confuse when you said you will put a link at the top for your gears inside your backpack, i checked! i see search bar of youtube!
Sorry Tom, it was a bit unclear! Check the "i" in the top right corner of the video and you'll see my video suggestions.
Don't tell me what to do!
Stop doing this - 7 youtube videos that are no-no's
hahaha respect
@@MarkHarrison4 all in good fun.
Font?
Who are you to say what and what not to do ? Photography is about showing people how you see the world. So continue with all your science and let people do what they feel
Very true! Photography is definitely a wonderful form of expression, however these tips definitely help when shooting for clients. I wish some of this info was available when I was learning so I didn't have to learn the hard way.
2nd one happens to me a lot
Yea tempting to do so...
I Dont Have Camera Cant i make Camera PhoNe??
Namaewa Mushinderu you can definitely shoot on a phone, it just makes it harder :)
This is not actually no-no or mistakes, more of “what I think looks good” or “tips for better travel photos”
👍🙋
3:11 is that Chefchaouen Morocco
It is!
I disagree with #3 I think there's a lot to be said for negative space, yes, used badly it can look dull but I think we should challenge the rule that negative space is bad, to my mind it fires up an inquisitive mind, TV does it all the time.
Sam Bowen yes man love it! Photography is so individual... all the basic rules can be broken if done tastefully and with intention. Heck, I’m sure there’s some great photos with trees coming out of heads 😂. “Once you understand the rules, then it’s time to break them” - I dunno who said that 😂😅
Overall tip...have heaps of $ for a drone and fancy lenses hahaha nah still solid tips here :)
Haha cheers pal
#subscribed
:)
Heavy gear = go for olympus 😉 lots of gear, still more lightweight than everyone else 😉
Definitely agree with the first no-no but the rest were no-nos. Should've stopped there. Good tip tho bro.
1/7 is better than 0/7... i'll take it haha!
Mark.., You kinda look like Michael Fassbender :D tell me if its only me who can see that?
haha yea right, that guy is such a beauty!
(Thanks though)
I mean dude I get the point but buying another 5 lenses or other expensive supplements does not make your photo great at all
Completely agree! The meaning and sentiment behind a photo is paramount! :)
However these tips do help when shooting for clients
I'm only 2 minutes in the video and I have so many notes!
Thanks Fella!
Bro! stop giving all these great tips away! How we supposed to make it when you're giving away all these pro tips! JK, great vid brother!
hahaha
You from BC? if so link up lol lets go send a mountain!
No I wish, west is best haha
Every picture looks the same sometimes
truuuu
The first thing that has to change: STOP PUTTING UP SELFIES. It isn't interesting.
Paul C lol!
Except if they’re Advanced Selfies (cf. Sorelle Amore) !
@@sarahmrqss Sorry, no. Selfies, by definition, are self-serving therefore they have no value as a subject. They are a way for self delusional thinking. Beauty is the subject of any photograph, even if the subject portrayed as 'horrible' like Ken Burns Ut, Paul Schutzer and the like.
All a selfie does to say to the world 'look at ME'. The subject therefore, is lost in translation.
We agree to disagree then.
@@sarahmrqss That is perfectly o.k. Opinions vary both with time and place. 🤘
Very good. But mainstream photographer...
What's your Instagram?
in description ;)
See ya over there
I want a drone to follow me and take photographs
You Tuber mistake No1: putting your sponsor's promotion at the end of the video. The majority of viewers will stop watching when they realise the content has ended, which means your sponsor isn't getting the views they hope for. It's far better to put your promo in the middle of the video. Yes, viewers might scroll past but there's a much greater possibility that some will let it run thereby giving your sponsor more views and you more earnings.
The last tip. Play stupid. As you said, nobody likes someone who loves their own work.
But actually, you are the ego tripper who won't accept that you are you and nobody else is you.
If someone goes all in on their life, then accept them. Stop being ego and think only your lifestyle is the right style.
Wow the coupon code for Nord VPN changes exactly nothing, it’s already 108$ to begin with 😂
Isn't that because they input the code automatically when you click the link? haha I don't know...
@@MarkHarrison4 Nah I thought so too and went to the site by myself. The discount is just the normal discount you get for buying into a 3 years contract and not a 1 month / 1 year / 2 year one. Manually entering the code changes exactly nothing.
This guy is so cute. Thats all matter. Lol
