      @@ziudra91 I don’t think we want classic era to be classic plus, I just wish that they did more to get players to try it out. More people in classic era means you can actually enjoy the group content. It means you can form more guilds and stuff. But like I said in the video, I don’t think there’s any expectation that there will be any development, so just work within the content that is there already and open it up to more people.

    I have been on a crusade with my wow group to not re-up until the subscription model changes. Either offer a true subscription that includes upgrades and new content as part of the subscription or make players buy the game and allow them to play without subscription cost - or at minimal - allow standalone play without subscription.

    I think the season version (seasonal) should be paid similar to the retail version.
    The Classic Era version should be given as a gift to players who have paid more than two years of monthly fees as a thank you (avoids bot).
    And anyone who bought any expansions in the past shouldn't have the Started Edition restrictions until level 20.

    Great video, I used to be a regular classic player back in 2011 and lost my account with the others when the server was hacked. Got busy with life and responsibilities, joined the Navy and never thought of coming back until now, felt like reliving those good days and feel that nostalgia I enjoyed as a civilian, but finding out that classic was no more F2P literally killed my excitement. It would be great if Blizzard offers it for free. Spread the word!

  • @CallMeTeci
    @CallMeTeci Год назад +2

    What Blizz imo should do is doing the same for char-levels, what they did to crafting (Seperate Level per Expansion). Or AT LEAST make something like that optional - like Chromie-Time but better for people that are interested to play through older expansions AND for those that want to start straight into the current Expansion. Also every Dungeon/Raid should be soloable in that "mode" or in the best case played together with relevant NPCs. And everything up to Cata could be the free trial.
    I mean WoW is such a big game and has such a big ass story from Classic/BC to Dragonflight now... i think there are many players like me, that would like to play through them in order, with a red string for us to follow the important-events (OR at least that quests which are not from the played Expansion are not shown on the map). But that would need a good bunch of work from Blizz and i doubt that they have any interest in doing that.
    But for me Chromie Time was a chore - especially the first char that is forced to play BfA up to Level 50(?), before you can even freely access another Expansion with Chromie. (Like... WHY?!?)
    Literally made me quit the game three times over the course of several years... FFXIV does a way better job at showing their players what they have in petto in terms of the games story, making you feel close the the characters and environments. WoW isnt doing that at all.
    That said... i dont think that Classic as a Trial will give people a reason to sub for the Retail version, while people that want to enjoy the Trial version wont care about Classic. I also think that the very decreased pacing of Classic will drive away potential Retail-players. I dont think there is much overlapping of target audiences of both game-versions. So i think it would be better to make Retail more beginner-friendly in a way that they have no problem of getting the feeling to get home whenever they log in and go on adventures. But that is just my take on this. :)

    • @AllTradesJackReviews
      @AllTradesJackReviews  Год назад

      Oh yeah the chromie time thing is a good idea but I definitely think it needs to be flushed out more. The new player and leveling experience is pretty rough in retail.
      I do think that there is a section of players that play both classic and retail. But I think you are right that they play for different reasons. Like for me, I play retail for the end game and new modern content. But I play classic for the leveling experience and nostalgia. I went back to classic era for a bit and it’s like a comfort game. So it’s all connected but for very different reasons. It just depends on what type of game the new player would like!

    I was always thinking, "Why isn't classic free?" A nice x and o from Blizzard to its long-time fans and a chance for others to experience its epic journey. But your explanation is perfect, classic era is the answer. However, by the way Blizzard has been leaning, they'll make some excuse to implement microtransactions if they introduce a "free service". It's a popular topic, but we can't blame gold sellers, because gold buyers are just as much a problem. Especially those who have bought so much gold they were actively hiring players of the opposite faction to hunt and kill other players on a server-wide scale. *sigh* I can't live down the "RlSE" drama when they invaded Netherwind during the free transfers, some pompous... arrogant gamers that should have been dealt with. I made a half-assed video of the "opening the gates of AQ madness" if you want to check it out. I admit, it was a lot of fun when I look back at it, but at that time was a royal pain. Deep breaths man, deep breaths, where was I?
    Oh yeah, can't trust Blizzard. I guarantee you it won't be a "classic experience" once it becomes free. Although, it would give players a taste of Blizzard's monetization practices before buying the current game.😝"Some things are best left alone." Sure, spell batching was a wild attempt at making an mmo feel... laggy...old internet? Once they removed it, holy crap the game felt so much better. The chronoboons were a cool attempt to keep people from raid logging but came too late. Introducing higher exp rates during TBC's final days was interesting. An attempt to "bring players back" and it worked, sort of. It mostly brought back the fast paced, "replace the tank, he's not pulling fast enough" players. What I'm trying to get at is this, Blizzard's word is never concrete. I feel classic has turned into the WoW that caters to today's fast-paced audience, not the past. The small fanbase you see playing on classic era servers are what is so hard to find on the server I played on during WoTLK (I quit a couple weeks after launch). How long will that cherished fanbase last before Blizzard puts its grubby little hands around classic era's neck?
    Lengthy and sometimes off-topic, but I needed something to distract me from this migraine. Vanilla wow is like an ex you just can't get off of your mind. If they make her free, I'm scared I'll go right back to her.

  • @joshw3719

    Me as well as thousands would always play a fresh no changes server every 2 years. There’s a reason why we have played it for over a decade and people keep urning for it. The first season of mastery was too soon and people didn’t realize what they wanted, heck, I didn’t even realize it. I always thought Wrath was the king, and after playing it, I can now confidently say vanilla will always be the king and hold a special place in my heart. As for it, not being perfect, that’s what is so perfect about it. It is perfectly imperfect and every class has their role. I even made a druid and a hunter in vanilla and I wouldn’t want any changes to them or for them to be buffed. I excelled in many other areas where a high DPS’ing rogue or warrior couldn’t come close. I like that the class has its own unique feel, and I wouldn’t want anything to be monetized. #NoChangeAsAlways!

    When I was playing Rift and it went free to play the influx of players from that kept the game going strong for years to come. I think if they do a Classic+ sure make that part of the subscription, maybe even SoM season 2, but Classic Era should totally be free. It will keep people playing WoW when otherwise they might not. I just let one of my accounts subs run out and I'm about to let the second one do the same until SoM season 2 is a thing. I don't see myself playing WoW again until SoM actually, which is weird because I thought I would love Wrath.

    Retail and Classic should at least open up F2P til lvl40.
    In Classic you get your mount and a decent amount of talent points. You've seen a lot of leveling dungeons and zones.
    In Retail you'd be able to use the fastest flying speed and could be teased for further leveling/the xpac via Dragonriding.
    It would need a massive restriction on farming/storage/gold acquisition. It is one thing to fight bots, it's another thing allowing them to thrive too fast.

    The $65 you're referring to only applies to retail. Classic only requires a subscription and no additional purchases. It still doesn't have any sort of free trials unlike WoW back in the day but retail is still more expensive to play than Classic. You don't even have to buy a copy of WoW and haven't had to since they changed the subscription model in 2018 to automatically give you the second newest retail expansion as long as you pay the sub fee and don't even have to buy the game once on top of that anymore. Brand new accounts can access the near-full retail game just by paying a sub and only have to buy the new expansion on top of that. For Classic you get absolutely everything with a sub. I think paying a sub to experience all 3 games is a good deal for the money and I personally play them all but it's sad that you have to get people to pay a sub just to even try Classic. The 10-day trial was a great system and they should probably have something similar for Classic and especially vanilla.

    A "hardcore" (i.e. permadeath) mode breaths new life into WoW (ref. Kargoz et al.), but it's not everyone's style. F2P may also help people try out such a server where they may find the higher stakes to make it more gripping for them too.

    Classic should be free-to-play at the very least for veteran players who bought the game. I subbed all through the original wow, BC, WotLK, Cata.
    And I'd be fine with it being just vanilla, BC or WotLK, but not Cata that destroyed the classic zones.

    It isnt classic that needs to be free to play, WoW in its entirety needs to be free. The subscription era is dead. The box price era is also nearly dead. Try selling a first person shooter in the current year - it doesnt end well, even Activision is aware of this which is why Overwatch is free. Monetization through various means is the future.
    Over the next 4 years a major shift is likely to take place with large studios releasing mmo's as free to play. How quickly can ActivisionBlizzard prepare for that shift in the genre?
