this is my first playthrough and ive been stuck on the first cycle of the leg for soooo long so i mean. thanks lizard

this lizard was so insane for this
i hadnt seen many lizards this time and i was like "ahh fuck it ill watch and see what happens maybe one of them will be in one of these rooms and itll save me" but no this guy pathfound the shelter flawlessly, didnt fall or spin like an idiot once, dodged the daddy longlegs like a fucking chad, kept me in the shelter JUST long enough to activate it, and then he wasnt even hanging around to kill me again the next morning. best lizard in the west

I tamed this exact lizard on my first run, his name was Blanc and he stayed alive to cycle ~700 ish (at which point my save was wiped by the Downpour patch) and was there every time I visited The Leg. I have gifs of me trying to "leash" him with a grapple worm to minimal success.

Seriously, some will just act tamed even though you haven't fed them a single time. What a friendly white lizard.
And then there's cyan lizards, doing the most extreme parkour and tricks just to snatch your ass at mach 10
Or catapulting off the wall at full speed. There is no middle ground.

They sometimes do both. If you keep watching after getting grabbed by one they have a habit of accidentally dropping you either from spinning so fast you slam into the ground and fly out of their mouth, or missing a jump and landing hard on the ground. I'd give it a 50% chance of getting back to their den, and at least 25% to dropping you, with the rest being falling into a bottomless pit with you.
Or randomly falling three screens and all you hear is the lizard hitting the ground below

This has happened to me in Sky Islands too. By a White Lizard as well no less! Unfortunately, the next cycle I was stuck somewhere in the room OUTSIDE the shelter. I didn't know you could slowly clip through terrain once you're in or to check where the heck I was using the map. So I downloaded Dev Tools to save the run.
A plant threw me into a wall at shoreline once. It stole my spear but at least I lived to try again
Why can't mine be so nice? The white lizards in my playthroughs just sit in the most inconvenient areas and lure me into a situation where they can drop onto me.. Even after hundreds of hours I fall for it every time.
Yes, whenever I get the chance I repeatedly kill them in arena mode to assert dominance.

It is a game called Rain World. It uses what are essentially pixel art puppets controlled by the AI in every single one of their movements. It's honestly a really fascinating way of doing things and the way it makes the whole ecosystem come to life is interesting.
Rain World itself is a survival platformer that simulates an ecosystem. The game is gorgeous in every aspect, but do be aware that it is a PUNISHING game going into it. It's worth picking up at full price, but it also goes on pretty big sales so look out for that too.
The recently released DLC is also pretty fantastic in my opinion, but I'd recommend trying to see the base game through first before purchasing.

This is their way of trying to tame scugs
The reason the lizard didn’t come back is probably because it’s den was in that room and you despawned it. That’s usually what happens due to the fact that the game thinks the room the cycle ended in was your shelter. So it went through the normal shelter functions. Which includes obliterating that lizard for some reason

I love this game so much for this, dynamic animations and path find always makes up for some insane situations.

I had something similar in my spearmaster campaign, exept I didn't have enough food, so when an especially agressive blue lizard went in and out of my shelter several times it felt like it was mocking me':D
(Eventually it brought me to a bottomless pipe and droped me into botomless pit.....)

I had a similar situation, but only with a poisonous spitting spider. I was playing the expedition of the Saint. Then the poison spitter grabs me and carries me away. He fought for me with wolf spiders, took me to a safe zone and abandoned me

See my advice is, wholesale, backtrack to industrial and go up the wall via chimney canopy. never touch pebbles or underhang again.
Man if only he stuck around in the shelter!!!!! I've had it happen twice where if a lizard is locked in a shelter with you, it breaks a bit and ends up tame next cycle. The only way I've tamed a cyan lizard tbh
