- Fall 2021 Wonder Challenge: Dewey the Supercomputer Catches a Tornado
This video was created for the Wonder Challenge for the Fall 2021 Environmental Science, Politics, and Policy course taught by Dr. Kwame Owusu-Daaku at the University of West Florida. We partnered with Elizabeth Eubanks and 6th grade students from Dixon School of Arts and Sciences. We created a video answering the question posed by the 6th graders “I wonder…how do weather forecasters forecast?”
Our video explains how weather specialists predict both where and how strong the weather is at any time! Follow along as DEWEY, the super-computer, calculates weather patterns around the world and helps meteorologists deliver predictions to the public. Springfield, Illinois has some bad weather heading their way as a tornado approaches a nearby neighborhood, but the people
who live there have no idea! Will Dewey and the meteorologists be able to predict and forecast the weather accurately in time?
