Awesome house and a great review of 1740, which happens to be my favorite! What I really like about Histories de Parfums is that they sell 15ml bottles that don't break the bank. I wish more houses did this.
Never stop making videos your videos are super interesting and informative while being entertaining and educational and fun all in one!! I’ll glSys give you money throuh patrion! Cause your videos are unique and one of kind while still being somthing I want to watch everyday 🙏 a
As usual , you nailed the review. I am also a big fan of the brand. I own 1725 and 1828, and i abosutely LOVE both of them. 1740 is next on my list. if Histoires de Parfums had better and more agressive marketing i think that they would get much more respect, they actually deserve it.
Great video and review. I agree completely with your thoughts as this was the first scent that I got a full bottle of after sampling because it really stood out. I agree that it pushes boundaries but is very smoothly crafted and wearable. Since we share the same favorites of this house including 1820 and 1725, I would strongly recommend 1899 as a well put together spicy blend. 1472 is a sweeter floral but I could see it being pulled off by a man in the heat of summer. 1969 is a little sweeter/more feminine as well but again a great scent.
I love this one, Daniel. A favorite from my collection, and I think chypres have become my favorite genre… It’s been interesting to experience it over many months, as I first got this buttery, animalic leather that transitioned beautifully into a soft, powdery sweet vanilla. I found the opening beautiful but challenging. Now, I experience it as much more rounded and not as animalic. I also love the 50ml bottles…would like to try 1725 and 1828.
Thanks for highlighting this brand. It’s definitely one of my favorites. I own 1740 but it is a tad bit challenging depending on the environment. I’ve worn it out and about but I don’t have the guts to wear it at work. Thanks for the comment HdP is such a great underrated house. I feel that most people don't realize how much smoother some "hard" frags come across in the air. If you have someone you can try this with, I would totally have them wear it and see for yourself what this smells like in third person.
You covered it all! I enjoy 1740..mine is an old bottle, but even in the late ones I am almost sure that there is something that is not listed: cumin and cloves. I personally do not get the connection with Interlude Woman (a true hidden gem, again by KVS): perhaps you can expand? Glad to read you will cover Petroleum which is something I am wearing a lot in autumn winter. At the end of the day, form me 1740 is about immortelle (my skin tends to absorb leathery notes) and this flower has grown a lot on me, not in his syrupy aspect though. If you enjoy the ever-lasting flower, you may like two of my favs: Fate Man and Immortelle Corse. Cheers.
@@alexceraudo9383 thanks for the comment! Yes, you are right, there is definitely cumin in there but it’s smooth and well hidden. The connection with Interlude Woman has definitely to due with immortelle and that sweet honey funky note. The whole evolution and wear of the scent is also similar, the Amouage being much more complex.
@@SeldomlyOften Thx. I will due a side by side and get back here. as for now, my wear experience with them differs a lot..but that is the interesting staff about feedback and opinions...the differences!

@@SeldomlyOften I'm from Florida. They seem to be easily available online, but I've never seen them in a store. I imagine some specialty perfume shops may have them but not major retailers.
You kind of nailed it. I was afraid this one was going to be too out there and wildly animalic. But it's actually not - it's more like a brilliant treatise on transgressions than an actual S/M orgy, in my opinion. Super refined and giving aristocratic perversion that's only alluded to in a conversation. I like this fragrance a lot.
Incredible fragrance as well as fidelis. But I sold it because I felt it was a bit unwearable for me. I feel like I might have to get a bottle again someday as it’s so interesting and lasts up to 3 days on my skin.
@@SeldomlyOften Have you tried any Jovoy fragrances? I tried an oriental fougere by them called L’Art de la Guerre and it’s very unique (at least for what I’ve smelled). Opens with rhubarb and this crisp apple thing but transitions into a leathery herbal sorta thing
@@assumptaai Salò was a rough watch and I do agree that this scent could be a lot rougher. At the same time HdP is making mostly wearable stuff and even weird releases like Petroleum (which I’ll cover soon) are actually not that foreign.
@@SeldomlyOften yeah I kind of hate this scent. I remember my friend who had bought it thought it was a quirky and naughty purchase and I had a fight with him. Anyone who's read Sade (though he's such a bad writer as to be virtually unreadable and there is so much better erotic subversive writing from people like Bataille) or seen Salo+ knows the history with Pasolini won't like this, some things are too much to just bottle and brand
@@assumptaai To be honest, I mention the name and the marketing but I don't associate to the background at all either and just wear this as is. Excellent review Dan. Some great points. Been a fan of this one for years. Easily in my top 3 from the brand, but it was a grower. Don't think I was ready for the drydown when I got my first bottle, but I'm glad my senses evolved. It was actually one of the first fragrances that got me over my fear of wearing slightly animalic scents in public too, despite not being too skanky overall. Helps that I have an intimidating demenour to deter complaints. 😂 So yeah...maybe not the best measuring stick. 🏒
Same here about the demenour, I don't know how you guys perceive me on RUclips but I'm not super approachable in real life and despite me trying to lean into the irony of the thing, I don't get much feedback on the stuff I wear :D
