Thank you kind Sir. Your 7 minutes of video saved me an afternoon of throwing tools and busting my knuckles. I was 20 minutes and done. Thanks also for the heads up on the battery brace and the wipers. Very good information.
I saw the other guys doing the air box method and having to do shadow puppets under the cowling just to remove the fasteners way back and it seemed complicated. I did it the way you demonstrated and it worked terrific! It took about 40 minutes for a first time doing it. I learned a lesson, some time ago, working on a Mercedes about losing power to the computer so I put my battery charger on the battery leads before removing them from the battery. I kept the positive lug wrapped in a rag to prevent fireworks. I put painters tape on the windshield with marks as reference when putting the wipers back on. Your video was spot on for how to do it. Keep up the good work!
I did this today on my 2016 Ford Escape with a huge assist from your video! Many thanks. Only pain in the butt was wiper alignment upon reinstalling but it was fairly easy to figure out. Overall job wasn't too tough but also got a good sense of accomplishment getting it done myself. Idiotic place for the battery as others have said...this should have been an easy 10m fix!!!
hi, did the escape lose all computer settings or something like that after changing the battery?, i am a bit afraid to do it my self, you know some cars need to be reprogramed after this
Man I got ALOT of great tips on this! My wife got a battery yesterday at O'Riley's and the guy that put it in screwed up several things like the wipers and he's got the neutral against the brake cylinder so I gotta redo it this evening. Thanks for a straight up video with some good tips my friend!
Just finished up with a battery replacement without removing the cowling. The front part of the battery box is removable. Easier to get access to the nuts and all with it removed but total job including getting the battery was under one hr.
Searched this video in -30 celcius weather when battery died. I'm far from moderate to pro whatsoever. If it was +10 summer, eh i'd be more then happy to do this, take an hour or 2 and go for it. Keep up the great work, ty for the video.
That wire/fuse looked like aftermarket, like for a small amp. Sunglasses, Home Depot $6 or so, safety, they look decent and cheap enough if you lose em. Or an eye patch and some pirate lingo. Your choice, surprise me.
I just changed my battery today. Definitely not as easy as my f150. Ford wanted 300 to replace the battery in my 2015 escape. I did it for the cost of the battery 125. The wiper blade alinement was prob the most difficult. The ford engineer responsible for the battery location needs to be fired ASAP. Thank you for the video!
greg burkhart you are correct in saying the design engineer needs to be fired. he needs to replace a couple of these himself to see what you need to get it done. ( I had a '07 solstice that you have to remove the right fender to get at battery, I did it in 2 hrs. )
Who ever made these cars they need to stop making cars cause it’s ridiculous how the situation they did for us to deal with just for they can make more money
Thank you for making this video. Looks so much easier than the airbox method. Here is a tip for wiper alignment, before you remove the bolts use a white grease pencil or paint marker and match mark the wiper arms to the posts. Should make alignment a breeze
Sorry to be offtopic but does anyone know a tool to log back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid lost the account password. I love any help you can offer me
@Lucian Grayson i really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Thanks! Good info. I don't think I can talk my daughter and husband through the process, I'm in VA they are in GA, I was just there visiting too. She's checking on AAA prices, but Sam's club has the best price.

No way was I going to risk screwing up my wipers or breaking plastic clips to get at the battery when all you have to do is pull out the air filter box and unclick the front panel of the battery box so you can slide the battery out the front of the battery box.
I wish I had taken a better look under the hood before I bought mine. If you can't replace the battery in under 10 mins it's a shit design. I fully regret buying my escape
What a stupid design. Can't imagine trying this in a parking lot or on the side of the road. Just did one on my wife's car. A battery swap should be a 5-minute job.

Yo, let me just say, these dude made this look easy. Changing the battery on a car should NEVER be this tedious. Great engineering design, Ford.

Is there a video on that?
Thanks, that video was very well done and probably saved me an hour of time trying to figure it out on my own.

Ford didn't make this easy on us, that's for sure. Hope this helps some of you!

Thanks for the video, this will be my last Ford vehicle. I can’t wait for Tesla or some new car company to put them out of business.

@Lucian Grayson It worked and I actually got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thank you so much, you saved my account :D
@Deshawn Elisha happy to help :D
Thanks boys. Straight to the point, great tips. Efficient and effective.
Might want to re-do and include video and close-ups of the certain aspects (e.g. removing windshield wipers, those clips, etc)
Thanks, you helped give me the confidence to tackle this. Much appreciated!
pretty sure you dont have to take off that panel or the wipers, the battery is accessible from the front after removing the air filterbox
your right just unscrew the air intake pipe and the air filter box just pops out battery slides out front
Thanks for the video. You just helped me impress my mother in law, lol. And the tips on replacing the wipers, outstanding. Be safe.
Great vid bro, been wondering how the he'll those batteries came out.Ford trying to make you come to the stealership
Thanks! Good info. I don't think I can talk my daughter and husband through the process, I'm in VA they are in GA, I was just there visiting too. She's checking on AAA prices, but Sam's club has the best price.
THANK YOU!
Nice job. Thank you. Got my Saturday project now.
Thank you man for the clear and concise instructions.
Awesome video full of so many tips and tricks thanks so much 🙏🙏🙏
This helped me out so much...great video...I’m subscribing!
Just did this on mine. I took the air box off instead and it looks like about an equal amount of work.
Very helpful in replacing brake booster check valve. Thanks
Thanks so much! I wasn't sure how I was gonna manage this
You're welcome! Glad to be of assistance!
Good video but you should have shown the wiper removal also
It's one bolt, pulls right off
Good video, thanks. My daughter’s battery just died.
I just don't have the tools. But yes, this was helpful.
pretty sure that broken wire is for the trailer lights which is added when a hitch and lights are added
Hold the camera steady and focus!
Thank you for this video!!!!! Very informative and very helpful.
Good stuff
Thank you! Big help!
Thank you!
Great video.... Thanks!!!
What size/group battery ?
BXT-96R-590
Do you have to reset the battery monitoring system on a Ford Escape ?
No
YES! Two ways to do it: (1) Let it sit for 8Hours, undisturbed or (2) use Forscan USB pass thru adapter and a laptop to reset the BMS.
Nice video!!
Thank you!

Only thing you'll have to reprogram is the radio stations.
An hour of labor is justified, if you're taking it to a shop. THanks.
Beast !!
Geez the newer cars get the less they want the end user to be able to fix their own shit.
It's a problem and it's not just cars. Same for appliances, cell phones, and from what I've heard, farm equipment - big problem.
Nice job
Thank you!

There's a special place in h**l for the engineer at Ford.

OMG that's worse than working on a PT Cruiser - which is known to mechanics as a PT Looser :)
What a stupid design. Can't imagine trying this in a parking lot or on the side of the road. Just did one on my wife's car.
A battery swap should be a 5-minute job.
Absolutely horrible video. Made me dizzy just trying to follow its movement.
