Folks, for the first time in almost four years of Simply Railway, this is the first time where... THERE IS NO TOILETS TIME!!
Usually, toilets time is a critical criterion for me to decide if I'm recording the journey. This one is an exception (because of Boulogne Sur Mer)
Don't worry, there is way more Toilets Time to come ;)

My friend, toilets are a no option in commuter services in Argentina due to security concerns of what may transpire in there: if they want to rob or rape you, pushing you inside a toilet and locking the door is perfect. Plus, health issues: perennial waste and foul odors due to lack of cleaning them. Therefore easier option is to remove them at all. Ironically, the Japanese EMUs which used to ran in other lines had available toilers until the early 90's. It seems civility has declined, as well as manners, in the past 30 years. Leave toilets for first world services

We forgive you! Besides, it was only 36 minutes and if I read that correctly, the fare was only 0.07 euros. Not enough to cover the cost of the toilet paper.

Those coachs originally where produced by Werkspoor company and Fiat/Materfer company. The coachs had toilets at national company Ferrocarriles Argentinos time. Even they had the Push & Pull system. The engine on one top and a cabin at the opposite top. Like is used in San Francisco.

I took this line a couple of times, back when the Mitre Line had problems almost every day. I was told to be wary of pickpocketers, and sure it was, the passengers caught one and promptly threw him out of the moving train! Fortunately for the man, it wasn't running at high speed, so he wasn't hurt.

The turnover of the locomotive only happens on sundays and holidays, because they have to use the shift machine at the end of the track, so they park the train a little further away. The rest of the days, when the service has more frecuency, there is always another locomotive parked in the station ready to be hooked up to an incoming train. That locomotive was left there by the previous train, and so on. So, you only have to walk that far on sundays and holidays.

You literally passed through 3 blocks away from my home! There were plans to elctrify this line a couple of years ago, as well as the San Martín Line, but intentions were dropped as a consequence of our local economic crisis, nowadays the only news for this line is that the Goverment wont extend Ferrovías's concession and therefore this line will also be public operated.

    • @wclifton968gameplaystutorials

The concession not being extended is solely based on someone like Javier Milei not winning the 2023 election and ending all concessions by privatising the entire railway network (again) by getting the government out of the way...

I guess Argentina is sufferring worst economic crisis.
As far as railways are concerned..they can turn towards india as indian railways too were loss making once upon a time but in last few years they have improved significantly in terms.of speed, infra, electrification and new models..
And all this at a very sustainable cost

@@kishoremali5547 Nowadays the crisis has become worse, but the lack of economic growth has been here since 2011 at least. I don´t see that happening -Major change in operations- in the future due to cultural barriers, If you announce privatization of railways (as it was announced in the 90s) you will have a social crisis with massive protests as a major part of the society demands that this kind of services must be public-operated. Not the greatest idea if you see the major losses and inneficiency Trenes Argentinos has nowadays. It is more complex but I think that explains a bit why there are 50 years old trains still running everyday local services.

@@kishoremali5547 Who told you Indian Railways is not making loss as of now. We spend about 131 rupees for every 100 rupees we earn. It's true that there has been a massive influx of capital in the railway to the tunes of billions of dollars but all that is been done with the hopes that we would one day make money. The delays the projects suffers won't let that happen. Taking example of high speed rail project the estimated cost of 100,000 crores ($12.5 billion) has risen to 150,000 crores ($18 billion) and that just one project. There are projects that delayed for over 300 months. We don't feel it because our economy is strong but it won't always be the case.

@@mukulbajpai6190 hello...i am not here for a fist fight in an intl forum.
My point here was indian railway is pretty decentralised and making profits in Silos.
Also there is a plan to privatise some routes to make it profitable which as usual is being opposed by communist assholes.
Also indian railway dedicated freight corridor is commencing up in 2023 which will free up passenger train routes making it more.speedy and introduce more new wagons like vande bharat trains etc. As well the freight revenue too will go up which currently loses out to highways.
Bullet trains toi are coming to Indua.
In nutshell i am saying indian govt has the appetite to make railways work. ALSO we no more import engines and wagons as most of them are made in India at effective prices.
We are also expanding railways to North East which is most rugged and Slushy terrain owing to rough weather.
We can very well export our tech, wagons, Engines To Latam nations like argentina, chile, brazil . They too will benefit.
To better understand how poor state Argentine railways is...try exploring the Patagonia routes which has immensely old infra almost 50 years and they dont have money even to keep the trains running Let alone electrify it.

Ok, some comments to add and better comprehend the environment
    1) Argentina did privatise its railway operations in the 90's and Ferrovias is one, alongside Metrovias in the Urquiza line, of the last survivors. They have been neglecting the upkeep in the past five years, due to contract expiration to happen shortly, but previous to that they were considered one of the most punctual and reliable metropolitan operators
    2) during the 90's most (not to say all) long distance services were discontinued and a lot of rolling stock was available to use for urban service so it was refitted for that use, that's why you see same type of coach
    3) until 2017, this service had low floor platforms and Saldias is one of the last stations under refurbishment to elevate such platforms
    4) in the past weeks a Chinese proposal was received to fully modernise this line including electrification and EMUs
    5) not being under direct management by the State meant that this line received less attention in rolling stock and infrastructure than fully managed ones such as line San Martin or Mitre, to cite a few
    6) seats tend to be easily vandalised so authorities decided to make them sturdier and harder to destroy, disregarding or not caring at all about passenger experience (toilets come on that line of reasoning too)
    7) not long ago a new station was devised for Aeroparque but civil aviation authority never was fully on board the project and objected that it demanded high investments and it posed a significant risk to security due to potential bombings (as if stations in airports were something very rare in the rest of the world these days 🙄)
    8) it was a miracle nobody tried to snatch your camera or phone while on such public display, you should have been more careful

The lack of people immersing “in their world” thru their phones is most likely due to the fact that you have to be on your P’s & Q’s constantly down here in BA or the thieves will eat you alive, especially being European/American and naive, and looking the part. But they don’t discriminate, they will stick up any local poor worker if they have the chance, and that goes tenfold if you’re a tourist inside a train, luckily he went northbound from Retiro and not southbound from Constitución cause it’s way rougher in that terminal, and we’d prolly wouldn’t have any cool video. I’m glad Thibaut had the balls, I haven’t rode an Argie train in almost 25 years even though I spend most of my time in Buenos Aires and I’m a train enthusiast….white privilege 😂

Nowadays you have Pibe Chorros that are like 3rd-4th generation of a generation that’s based on all that is wrong and immoral, and have no moral compass, damn that has nothing to do with class as most RGs be them rich, poor or part of the ever-shrinking middle class R the ones who are brainwashed mindless drones that think any foreigner that looks the part (I’m white as fuck, can’t help it) is loaded are the riders nowadays, Argieland , if it had any opportunism to recover after General Perón’s fascism and the Leftard terrorists and the fucking Military Junta they brought in yhe 70s has completely lost its way after 2001, with these decade+ of Peronist Classist kleptomaniac gov’t; which makes me a target just for being white and foreign, which makes me a target since they assume I’m loaded cause I’m white and don’t like to dress down, a thing that never happened in yhe 90s when I lived down here for a long time as well; luckily I’m well off by Argie standards, one of the reasons I stay here since the western world is so ticked up, I’d rather be well off here for now, though I reckon I’ll have to leave to Panama or Namibia some day, even though I’m poor by Euro standards I can lead a quite nice life here and thanks to your fucking protectionism government I can make a living down here and I don’t need to take the train nowadays I can be chauffeured around and live in a very “cheto” area making an ammount that wouldn’t even let me rent a place of my own in The Bronx. Funny how you only mention the posh stations from “Zona Norte”; I lived in section 8 in the states, that’s what you fucking Argies don’t understand, being white and having nice clothes and an iPhone doesn’t make anyone “rich” in the real world only in Argieland, sadly Chile & Colombia have gone to the gutter as well, cause I love Latin America, and yeah if I just took a train once in a while there’s a 90% chance nothing would happen to me, but if I had to do it every day like a regular joe that has a 9 to 5 it’d be just a matter of time.
Your gun laws are atrocious as well, it’s what the demoncrats want to do in the states, luckily I’m packing something that’s pseudo-legal anywhere in da B I go (unless it’s work related you won’t see me step a foot in da Congo-Urbano, even Zona Norte) and it saved my ass quite a few times without me even having to deploy it; as you can see I’m full of hate and anger, especially if a pibe chorro thinks I’m sweet and tries to do his thang I deploy, kick the fucker in the nuts and have the good Argies coming to help me or I bolt the fuck out, deploying backwards the most I can, luckily your savages are even dumber than American savages and the cost of living plus the good things in da B outweigh any other option I have at the moment and sadly the way America is going I’m running out of places to lead a life I can afford and enjoy, fuck Perón, fuck classism, fuck Maradona & Fuck Kirchner Mafia & La Campora Gang , i love trains and planes but you’d rather catch me dead than on a train or on an Argie Al-Kampurah Aerolíneas plane…oh and don’t get me started with your romance with Venezuela & Irán….

I'll make a small observation: the Belgrano Norte line and the Urquiza line are operated by private companies, but under a concession regime. The locomotives, wagons, tracks and stations are property of the Argentine State. On the other hand, there are other commuter lines that are extensions of power lines. For example, on the Sarmiento Line, there are two diesel branches between Merlo and Lobos and between Moreno and Mercedes (I live near this branch). And the power line communicates Once with Moreno, passing through Merlo.

It pulled the train to Villa Rosa and then the train came back to Retiro pushed by the locomotive, driven from the last coach which had an operation cabin. At Retiro station you hadn´t walk enough to get into the train, because it stopped not far from the track stop. Unfortunately this system was abandoned beacuse of maintenance costs.

The only downsides are that frequencies are low outside the Vilnius-Kaunas corridor, and there is no international connection (except to Belarus/Russia, not the best choice...), although Rail Baltica will solve the latter issue once it is completed

Would you happen to know how many passengers fall off these moving trains? Years ago closed door policy was instituted on NJ Transit when a passenger fell off the train while the train was in motion. We used to run doors open on both sides of the train at one time. With newer equipment propulsion can't be made if there is an open door. Your videos are a great way to view transportation systems around the world.

hi, let me answer that. I use this train every day to go to work. Every 1 to 2 weeks there is some "person accident" in the line, with delays and cancelations. They only said "person accident" but can be a passenger falling off or a Suicide in a station, people here love to kill thenselves under the train. 2 years ago one happen in New years Eve, In the Station next to the one I took the train.
Also there is a lot of robbers taking Cellphones or bags and runnning, some fall or push the victim off the train. Around 3 year ago they change the stations and the outside stairs of the doors, so people couldn't travel outside the door......Still people do it anyway or with the doors open, because some smoke during the travel. Also in the afternoon when is time of people coming back from work the train goes FULL like you can't drop a needle an hit the floor. So many travel hanging on the door handles.
Hope this help, I can answer any other question you may have

LOL NO, it's literally the worst line in Buenos Aires. Maintenance-less, unsecure (both train and stations), fake time schedules (if they officialize cancellations or negative changes, the state regulator CNRT would penalty them, so they simply say 'delayed' train constantly), everyday a locomotive breaks in service, etc. As passenger, rail fan and rail administration student, I have lots of facts and stories about this. Not in vain the users recently nicknamed it the 'Belgrano Muerte' (Belgrano Death). The material (cars made by Fiat-Concord-Materfer Córdoba in the 70s and GM G22s mostly made by ASTARSA San Fernando between 1970-1990) is pretty amazing, resistant and durable, but it's almost destroyed by the bad administration of Ferrovías (one of the two private passenger operators still running, meant to leave the service before next year). Just imagine, the G22 with blue vent displayed in the video's picture is one rescued and restored by the state in 2012 for the Belgrano Sur line (Trenes Argentinos), later in 2016 ""borrowed"" (by dirty political moves) with another 3 locomotives until now to Ferrovías due to the line's tractive crysis (they left 12 of 24 trains out of order). I personally traveled by those years outside the train many times (like indian videos) and with ""delays"" of more than an hour, trains not stopping and overcrowded, breaks failures, and so on. Even in tunnel section they leave the lights out during the day, only to save on gasoline. They only keep running just because miraculously we didn't have another disaster like Once's tragedy -yet-. There are plans for this line, but for now if you look for quality check the other lines (they are more amazing and beautiful), not this one (sadly).
