It's hard to believe that this chest of drawers was hidden under that hideous lemon yellow paint. I love the stain you chose, so warm. I like that you saved the "fancy" knobs - they are so unique and really are like a statement piece of jewelry on a beautiful dress. As always, I just love your attention to detail. You are my favorite furniture saver. Have a wonderful week.
Thank you so much 🥰 you have a great week as well
That looks like the original finish...the yellow was once white. It was supposed to look like ash.
Probably original finish, that was the style back then.
I’m just
Who would have thought this beautiful wood was under that old finish! The gold edging is a very nice (and smart) design touch. ⭐️ I’m glad you honored the old knobs.
That’s the original factory finish.
Wow the dresser looks amazing, you put so much work into every item you transform.
Thank you 😊
Thank you so much for saving the knobs with the needlework inserts. Your patience, stick-to-it-tiveness and attention to detail has once again rewarded us with a beautiful creation. I am sure I am not alone in saying that I would have given up and just painted the darn thing and called it a day. I am so grateful for your videos.
Somehow you manage to get the perfect balance in your editing... ! and the gold trim makes the 2 larger knobs look intentional rather than awkward. Excellent idea!
Your attention to detail and your tenacity with this project shows why you are so admired for what you do.
🥰🧡
You did a tremendous amount of work on this old dresser & it really paid off! It’s stunning!!
Thank you 😊 and thanks for watching 💛
@@Flippingdrawers I can’t wait for your new videos! You know that 😊 I’m a huge fan of your channel! I’m subscribed to many channels, but yours is my most anticipated. I can’t explain it, but your work inspires me so much! Obviously not just me, your channel has exploded, so talent isn’t outdated yet 🥰
What an absolutely fantastic transformation! Those blonde pieces are so difficult to strip and you did a great job bringing this one around.
That little lady made you work! And those embroidered knobs are right up my design alley. Looks absolutely lovely, Jay. And the bonus of fur managers and warrior assistant made it that much more wonderful to watch! LOL
Your attention to detail really shows with this dresser. What a fantastic job!! Well done and thank you for sharing it with us. ❤️
What a beautiful job you did! This is such a nostalgic piece with the 2 embroidered handles. The gold trim is lovely also.
As always, the attention to detail stands out. What's appreciated is your voice overs telling us what you're doing and why. Another excellent tutorial. I like when you tell what works and what doesn't. Teaching us as always. The end result? Outstanding. Well done Sir
So kind. Thank you David
Btful-Jay!!! Omg…there is such a pleasing wood tone!!! You did a smash-up job! This piece has your skilled aesthetic deep in its marrow! Just gorgeous!
Thanks 😊 I’m very happy with the results
Gorgeous! Your hard work really is evident.
Your channel is definitely one of the top inspirations for me starting woodworking as well. I really love all of the work you put into these restorations and have learned a lot along the way. Thank you ❤️
That’s awesome 🤩. Happy to hear that
Simply STUNNING!!
LOVE the gold accents!
I had NO idea that drawer hardware would actually work.
WELL DONE!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Another masterpiece. I am always impressed by the attention you give to the entire piece, even finishing the back. That’s indicative of true craftsmanship.
🥰❤️
looks amazing. You do a marvelous job on all of your pieces.
Beautiful restoration. You are an artist.
Once again, bless you for the cat cuddling interludes. They add a touch of humanity I often tind absent in other RUclips restoration videos.
Whoa that was a hard one. But your persistence and hard work always pays off. Loved at first site on those knobs! And of course the final project as well.
Those needle work pulls are so pretty! What a beautiful job.
❤️
Just stunning and the added little touch (via David 🤣🤣) was sublime.
The pulls were perfect
Thanks friend. I’m very happy with the result😊
Gorgeous dresser. The repairs you did with veneer & the oak on the leg were excellent.
Amazing work! And it was good to get a peak at the challenges as well as a better idea just how time consuming some parts of a restoration can be. In general I am not a big fan of the large drawer handles but I think the ones you installed look great with the piece.
I absolutely love those ornate handles!!! I cannot wait to see them cleaned up!!!!!
Oh, Jay, the new colors are wonderful together. I love that you are so organized and meticulous in the way you proceed. Thanks for showing how much effort went into the preparation for staining. It's necessary to stay real about furniture refinishing.
Thanks and I agree. People think I can do this in a day and make 10 videos per month 😂
Finally!!! Someone who knows how to spray paint with a rattle can. Bravo!
Another amazing restoration!
That look's a whole lot better than it did before. So glad you saved the petit point knobs, those take a lot of work to make something small look beautiful. What a lovely piece of furniture now!
Your work ethic and attention to detail is second to none.
A neglected 'old lady' gets to live a second life thanks to you, Jay. It's beautiful. I suppose you're going to claim you're too busy sanding to reply to the comments 😂
Nope 😊 thank you 💛
It is beautiful. So rich looking. Love the color. The kobs came out great. I love the repairs too. TFS.😊❤👍
It’s beautiful. The knobs make it elegant and the embroidered knobs make it feminine. I love what you did with your workshop.
Awesome 🤩 thanks for watching
Your tenacity is really astounding. What a gorgeous piece. No one else would have done it better. Wow.
❤️🥰
I would have just left that dresser for the rubbish and you turned it into an amazing amazing piece!! Bravo!!
Ha ha it did cross my mind when I was stripping the paint 😂
What an amazing transformation! Your patience was well rewarded. Thank you for such wonderful content.
🥰
The dresser restoration is like night and day. Thank you for saving the two big knobs with needlework, as a needle worker I appreciate it so much and yes it would have been very eye straining work. You can tell this is your true love/passion in life.
Wow! That chest of drawers turned out spectacularly. Great job!
🧡
This born in 1958 person very much appreciated your flip😉
My pleasure
Your work is always exceptional, this piece is truly magnificent. I appreciate that you noted how long it took to sand, I refinish furniture and it irks me when I see videos that make it look as if everything can be done in 45 minutes or less. I have a 9 drawer maple dresser that took me a week to complete and I'm retired!
Painting the strips of molding is a genius idea! It really sets off the hardware, and I’m so glad that you kept the embroidered knobs.
I know this is a stretch, but perhaps the fancier knobs were used for a lady’s lingerie drawer? They look so feminine. I’m glad you didn’t over darken the wood.
A dozen kinds of wow!! This looked incredibly time-consuming, but the end result is a stunner. The knobs really make the dresser, and someone is going to fall in love with it. I watch @MayfieldRestorations, too, and it's so nice that you gave him the hat tip. The gold edging is just flat pretty, and reminds me of the brass banding that you've done on your own projects. Thanks for inviting us to your work shop, and cheers from Oklahoma!!!
Thank you and glad you enjoyed it 🥰
Of course as expected cause we all knew you would make it beautiful and Hugo pretends to come check on your progress but he really comes for those cuddles lol thank you for your videos
🧡
The dresser turned out great. I love the knobs. You always do such great work.
It's way better than I expected it to be. I thought, in the beginning, it would look better painted. It's a really georgus chest now. 🎉
That dresser is amazing! Very well done.
This one is so special. It turned out stunning and has stories to tell. The knobs are placed on the small drawer at the perfect height for reaching while standing in front of a mirror. This is the place where a lady will place her makeup, jewelry, and lingerie. She'd remove her blush and lipstick as well as her celluloid comb and silk stockings from the drawer as she began to get ready. I wonder if a mom or grandmother embroidered the knobs for the piece and presented it to her as a wedding gift. I'm so glad you decided to preserve the knobs because they definitely belong to the history of the piece so others can imagine their own idea of its past 😊.
I'm glad you showed the amount of time which went into this, I think many people imagine that you can turn around a piece of furniture like this in a couple of hours. Beautiful resto job and a piece of furniture I would be proud to own.
❤️🙏🏻
Another beautiful, beautiful job. Great decision on the knobs for the drawers. And the trim on some of the drawers was a nice touch too. Just a gorgeous all-over project. Thanks for this.
Thanks for watching
Beautiful upgrade! When you make a repair, it seems to come easier to you know. I really loved the work, and the last upgrade (the Mayfield recommendation) put on the elegant finishing touches the old girl needed. As a fellow cat lover, I enjoy seeing your snuggles with the neighbors cats.
Thank you and yes, I agree with the gilding wax, @mayfieldrestorations has a good eye 😉
It's beautiful. The knobs really made it pop!!
Jay, you are an artist! The results of this restoration are beyond beautiful. I wish I could own it…but of course I feel that way about nearly everything you restore. For what it’s worth, I like the knobs with the embroidery insets.
Oh, and does Hugo have a friend who is visiting you now too?
❤️
Jay I really like the dark colour…you did an amazing job and I love that you kept the knobs. Natalie😊
Thanks Natalie 💛 glad you like it
When I watch your skill and attention to detail, I see a young, upcoming Thomas Johnson furniture restorer.
Ha ha but with a cat 🐱😂
This is beautiful!!!!! I love the knobs….actually all of it, but the knobs rock!
❤️
That came out wonderfully. I love the new hardware it all comes together.
WOW!!! Absolutely STUNNING!!! I love the gold trim and the knobs that you put on the dresser. The color of the wood looks absolutely perfect!!! ❤❤❤
Who would ever have thought this gorgeous dresser was hiding under that awful finish?? You did an amazing job🙌 Well worth your time and energy💚💚
This really turned out nicely!
The dresser is very pretty. In the USA during the 50s we had furniture, which was light in color, we called it blonde. The pieces look very much like the color of piece before you restored it. Thank you for this video.
Thank you for watching 🥰
I love that the cats hangout with you while you are working!
Ha ha thanks. I love it too
The gold edging is inspired. What a difference. I'd like a longer view of the whole cabinet.
I truly appreciate your labor intensive work on this piece. I can't imagine the hours you put into it. It's no longer an ugly duckling
I’m 66 and I grew up with that exact kind of furniture. I hated it SO much. The finish didn’t resemble any kind of real wood I’d ever seen. You’ve done an amazing job on this piece. I never would have believed it could be so beautiful!
THE PAINT...THE FILLER!!!!! OMG Jay!!! I would have given up and just replaced to veneer!!! This is why I love your channel. Your dedication and attention to detail is inspiring!!! I just love what you do!!!!
I did want to burn it at one point 🤣
What a BEAUTIFUL respectful professional tribute/recovery. I wanted to claw my eyes out after watching too many proud destructions of great pieces by enthusiastic flippers 😢.
I absolutely love how this dresser turned. As someone who does needlework, I’m happy that you kept the knobs.
Those knobs were certainly unique, and the placement of the knobs seems odd. I like that you kept the two with the petit point centers. The two gold bands across the front really helped pull it together. It looks better in the darker color, too.
🥰
Ahh... So much better! I like it! Excellent job! Glad you were able to save the embroidered knobs. I would be so proud to have my embroidery displayed in such a way! I hope the creator knew. Oh, I think the "uneveness" of the paint someone saw may be reflection of the lighter wooden deck. (?)
Love the brunette version, the blonde oak was looking a bit too brassy. Lovely work and those embroidery knobs get their own chance to shine. The gold accents against the dark grain - perfection!
Hugo is a good supervisor ❤
Hello from San Diego:) for a 65 year old piece, it came out fantastic and I'm happy you used the embroidered handles! They needed to stay with the piece.
I've been binge watching your channel for the past couple of days, and in all of them, there has only been one that I haven't thought, "That would look great in my bedroom/living room/ kitchen..." I'm just not into Moroccan brass tables, I guess. Your work is amazing, your voice is very soothing, and I love seeing all the kitties. Keep up the good work!
It’s very relaxing to watch you work on these projects. I know you do all the work but just know there are lots of people who are enjoying your work besides you. Oh and I liked the knobs. Lol
I was skeptical at first, but your end result really kept the spirit of the original. Bravo!
Jay, that's a very, very nice result. It looks distinguished now, and with the flowery knobs it looks French. 😉 The addition of the gold on the drawer was perfect. As always...Top to bottom, front to back, inside and out...and all around. 👍
🥰glad you like it
I love the lines of this piece and the drawer pulls.
Such a rich color to the finish. SO much improvement over that yellowish original.
To call this a vast improvement is a major understatement. Beautifully done.
Thank you 😊
I am glad you saved those embroidered knobs. As you said, someone put a lot of work and thought into it. I think the knobs that you switched out to look nicer than the ones that were on there. And your cats are adorable.
Not his cats. They belong to a neighbour. The second one is female, and called Miel. 😁😽
thanks and yes, not my cats 🤣
What an extraordinary amount of work. My patience would have run out quickly and I probably would have given up. Kudos to you for sticking with it. Beautiful results.
Thank you 😊 glad you enjoyed
Your humor kills me ! ......Its extremely appreciated.
ha ha thank you 🥰
Mammoth effort! The finish looks beautiful.
The back board has a purpose, with skirting boards furniture does not always touch the wall at the top, the back board means it will always be flush with the wall, and with filling that gap, it prevents dirt and dust gathering down the back of the piece, now you know 🙂While you were sanding I already had that piece refinished in my head, with the pretty knobs I thought a really pale nude/pink, it would of been lovely in a little girls room. I repurposed furniture for decades, and pretty pink pieces for nursery's always a winner.
Thanks for watching
Amazing the amount of work you put into keeping the wood grain. Lots of people would have given up and painted it.
One of the reason I like to watch your channel is because you love beautiful woodgrain. I do too!
Thank you very much! 🙂
From ugly to beautiful! Love your attention to detail. Your skills have improved so much since you are a full-time furniture restorer now! 💪👏👍✨😍❤
I’m speechless. It’s mind blowing to think that the gorgeous, richly colored piece at the end is the same yuck colored piece at start. Great work once again, Jay! 👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks Robin 🥰
You recreated a beautiful piece of furniture!! Spectacular.
You have so much patience. Before the first Hugo entrance, I would've started painting 😂
🤣🥰
That looks so beautiful. I’m glad you saved the old drawer pulls.
I love the knobs. It gives it such character.
Just lovely! Who would have thought this lovely piece was under that mess!
Wow, nice transformation. I'm impressed.
I can’t believe how difficult it was to get that paint off! I take my hat off to you. It tired me out just watching you do this. Beautiful job! ❤️
Simply beautiful. Frankly in the beginning, I thought you were going to paint because it was pretty terrible looking. You definitely saved it.
You’ve done it again, Jay. This is beautiful. I love the knobs. Thank you for sharing. ☺️
What a difference ! 😀
I ADORE YOUR “ON AIR” neon sign at the start of this video!❤️ I really thought that this piece was covered in “Laminex” like our very old (1950’s) kitchen table! That stuff it was painted with was soooo tough to remove! I thought, “Bring out the Kryptonite!” Your perseverance is formidable. You realise that you cannot sell this dresser…….you’d never get your money back on it! I’ve never seen so many hours put into a single, inexpensive, plain piece! I wondered what type of wood it was. I may have missed you saying it, but it looks like oak to me. Well done, mate! That’s why you and Mad City Modern are my two favourites! Also love the gorgeous fluffies and the “two thousand years later’s” 😊❤️🦘🇦🇺
I love the 200 years later bits. Also I have been restored in my love to fix furniture. Thank you
You are so welcome!
