Thanks for the info! I went to Albania back in February/ March 2020. The next day the country went into their first covid lockdown and I had to fly back home. I was in Gjiokaster and it was completely abandoned, I had the town all to myself. Pretty haunting and cool experience

I never quite understood why the city where I live in, Tirana, for the most part of my life, was quite hated.
It is so cheap, there are alot of jobs and most importantly, the beach and mountain are within 1 hour away.
I got everything in it and is really hard for me to leave my country, especially because now you get remote jobs.
Plus if you have an EU wage, like 2000-3000 euros, Tirana is a dream city, you have everything.
Also for the electricity part, I had 1 power outage this whole year, which lasted like 5 minutes.
It depends on which zone you live as there are some zones with bad electricity and others are quite good.

So power outrage in your zone lasted for only 5mins that is good to know! What about municipal waste? Is it true that side streets, parks and beaches are littered with trash ? How is the public transport or you advise you buy a car and how much is that , fuel , insurance etc thanks

    • @aleksdeveloper698
      @aleksdeveloper698 10 месяцев назад

@@oluwaseunakanbi8317 The littered trash it depends which parts are you in.
In Tirana, you always find a bus.
On other cities probably you will have problems.
You have to rent a car, which is way cheaper than a taxi.
For example going to the beach in Durres, I always have to wait for the bus which might take up to 30 minutes or even more and you wake up at 8 oclock in Tirana, only to find yourself at the beach at 12 oclock because those buses waste so much time. (I have seen tourists too waiting for the bus to the beach of Durres)
With a car you are from Tirana to Durres in 60 minutes or maybe less.
They say Tirana buses will become less frequent in the upcoming months.
So I strongly recommend renting a car, but there is also traffic since everybody is going to the beach nowadays.
For the electricity, they have done a lot of work along all beaches since we have 2 million tourists this year, probably will boom again next year to 3 million.

I can give you 10 examples for your consideration: Barcelona, London, Madrid, Ámsterdam, Roma, Paris, Vienna, Berlin, Istanbul and Stockholm.
Still, I believe Tirana has a great potential and over the next years will become a real modern and lively city.

Albania has changed so much from the worst year 1997 and only in 20 years is a nice country to live and has many things to develop ! In the worst year of the democracy Albania was about 0 level and very por people fighting and no money in pocket payment was 70-100$ month taday after 20 years has changed the things payments are from 400€ average and many things are better and is much more to do!
Albania isn’t in EU this mean don’t have financial big projects from the union but it has some help , so don’t has such benefits like Bulgaria or Romunia or Poland etc , but the point is that Albanians are hard workers , police isn’t corrupted but police is sometimes your father your familiar or your friend or enemy becouse the country is small and people know each other in some way , we know the police the teacher the deputy the farmer the student the enemy becouse in some small places this is normal to know each other !
Police people are great specially the older with more experience , problems are with public administration and with some other problems of daily life and burocracies … also infraasrtutcure is in problems but let’s hope for more development

rents for a 1 bedroom apartment very close to the centre are 200, not 400-600. The price you are stating is the average for a 3 bedroom apartment. Don't look at Airbnb, prices there are usually much higher because of commissions and the fact that it is a short term lease.

Another Con, garbage. By the way is not Albanian fault about the fees. FYI is Chase, TD, American banks who charges you the fees. By Law, any bank in Albania cannot charge more than 0.50 to $5 for transaction. All are controlled by Bank of Albania. All exchange rates in Albania, are way fare compare to banks in US and Canada. As well Exchange stores, mostly they don't charge you commission. And they are safe. Look in Prague, Budapest, Sofia, i dare you exchange the money outside. In Italy, Germany, France US$ will be changed as 0.75 Euro.
