This is a great, frugal art project and almost anyone probably already has most of the supplies! One thing that is different about erasers vs. rubber relief block media is that erasers usually have an abrasive like pumice powder in them, and that can dull your tools. You can always buy extra cutters, but since frugality is part of the lesson, it's a good time to mention sharpening your cutters periodically. A whetstone is a great addition to any studio for honing cutters, chisels, and knives, because when they get dull, they're not as safe, and they don't carve as well. Another frugal printmaking technique artists may want to explore is drypoint intaglio printing with cardboard from shelf-stable food packages. An etching needle or embossing tool can be used to create the design on the cardboard, and ink or oil paint can be rubbed into the grooves. Wipe off the excess ink, moisten and blot some paper, place it on top of the cardboard "plate", and burnish the back with a spoon. No press required!
I remember when I was little, how surprised I was with how well my eraser took graphite, lol, it felt so soft, and felt weird, like- this is supposed to make pencil disappear ! So I set to coloring all my pencil erasers 🤪
I hated doing art 95% of my life because nothing turned out as well as I wanted; but I got very sick in 2018. With nothing else to do I started watching a lot of RUclips artists & soon felt like trying art myself. I got such peace & enjoyment from it, I took a college art course when I felt better. Of course I was the worst student & was too sick to finish the class but I still received valuable information. My professor said we need to draw as much as possible. Accept that you must get out 1,000 bad drawings before you get to the good ones. In the beginning it was easy to appreciate my bad drawings as part of the learning process, but after gaining experience & being forced to stop because of my health for over 1½ years. it's been very difficult to begin again. I fret that I've lost all of my progress gained & wonder if I'll ever be well enough to reach my artistic goals as I'm only about 550 drawings in due to long & frequent hospitalizations. Thank you for reminding me that failure is not only okay, but it's a very necessary step. I'm just a beginner I don't need to obsess with how quickly I obtain my goals. I just need to be thankful the Lord turned something I seriously disliked into a beautiful & comforting lifeboat that gave me peace & purpose during a crisis.
It’s so great you share what doesn’t work, because RUclips videos are so edited to perfection, it is very frustrating when we try it at home and it doesn’t work as seamlessly. Thank you so much for pointing this out! It will really help so many people. It’s easy to give up on something when it doesn’t seem to be working out as well for us. This is so, so important! Don’t give up on your work!😊
I tried this after your last video - it’s fun! I just did a simple word stamp for practice, but definitely want to do more. You always have fun ideas to steal! 🤣
I have to admit to some nostalgia when I watched this video and the previous one. My favourite class in school back in the murky past, was art class. We did carving on lino and leather, and that was my favourite lesson ever. I still remember making a belt for my father and a stamp or two for my mother who was an avid arts & crafts fan too. It was so relaxing. I must have been either 7-8 yrs old and took it all so seriously back then. I still recall the smell of the lino, leather and ink, as we tried out our stamps etc. Thank you for this video Mira. It was wonderful to watch and recall the past. My favourite stamp you made were the zentangle one, and the teddy one. They were both lovely. God bless you and yours, today and always, and may His grace abound to you today and forever.
I love how simple products can make beautiful art. Thank you for including the mistakes. I am really hard on myself. This is a nice reminder 😊. Thank you!💜 You made some beautiful Zen Tangles also! One of my favorites! Thank you so much for this awesome video! 🥰🌬💜✌
I agree with you, there really is so much satisfaction when doing small art pieces. It’s probably because you get to see the results so quickly. I’ve been procrastinating between my next big painting and doing little watercolours and sketchbook pieces in the meantime. Love these vids and I say go for part 3! 💕
So happy. I love this series, yes another video please. Thank you for more videos. I love the bear!!!! I love the sea and son. I would love to see you stamp these in colours. Such a fun video. Thank you.
Yep. Got a set of 6 for $1.25 Went into a carving frenzy for hours and had a fabulous time. The lines were pretty sharp.bought some more for friends in print class to try. Have fun.
I ended up trying a cuticle cutter from the dollar tree (I'm sure you could get a pack of them somewhere else, too) And It worked like a smaller carving tool! Thank's for making these videos, I always look forward to catching up on them lol!
I appreciate all of your designs. I also appreciate you sharing the failure. So good to see that everyone has experiences that don’t then out like we hoped. Totally agree that this isn’t discussed enough! 💓
I hate the person that comments and says you don't do anything hard. You're always full of such bright and beautiful energy and definitely don't deserve it. Plus, you're job is to make videos, so of course you're going to make videos doing the things you enjoy and love. Anyway, I just wanted to counter any of those comments and say that I think you're amazing :)
For little round details like eyes I like to use the blade verticaly, turn it 360° and bam perfect circle out. This technique can also be use for little flower, I used my flat blade like this for stars. Works like à charm
Don't listen to the haters in your comments talking about how your scared to try new things... they don't know what they are talking about. Your real supporters know that's not true because we see you try new things all the time!!
I don’t know if it works the same as with manufactured rubber stamps but with those of you pat them over with sellotape before you ink them for the first time it helps stop the patchy prints you get first, love this idea I have the carving tool and still some of the Lino that comes with it but I think this would be a good way for me to avoid my “must not waste the materials” thing I have
~Resare~ 😄 I'm late to the carving party due to a busy week, but glad to catch up. Such cute prints! The teddy bear stamp could be named deddy bear (as in deady). Too dark? 😊The zentangle and pencil stamps are my favs. (Yes, to part 3!) I love your message and need to remind myself of this every day.
These are awesome they've inspired me to get my tools for carving stamps back out but I know I need to do something to sharpen them too so I saw in the comments a lady said a whetstone and I'm sure I can get those so anyway I always enjoy your videos
Beautiful 😍👍 I liked the pencil and flower ones the most! The teddy bear one was okay too 😊 Btw Mira, do u have a video plan for drawing with wool? ☺ I was wondering if it's possible to stitch them on a canvas in some places while also painting!🤔 Mixed media thing!😂😂
I absolutely love this concept! I’ll to get some erasers and a carving tool to do this! *Resare!* and I think the bears name should be Shiva (the Hindu god of destruction)
I've definitely used sharpened pencils and paperclips to make stamps. They weren't quite as detailed, and they came out a little rough but they do work, just not as well.
My brain gets confused how to do this. If I want the line to stamp dark. I'd need to carve all the negative space. I want small stamps with weather icons for my journal, so I don't have to draw the sun, wind, or a rain cloud each day
Resare I wonder how well these would work with gummy type erasers. I loved those as a kid and thought they were the best thing ever i didn't like the pink ones cuz they smeared. This is a very fun idea and i think i might just have to do this.
I'd love to see you try the larger erasers for this. I know Amazon has larger Pink Pearl erasers and even larger pink erasers that aren't a specific brand, so I'm not sure what quality they'd be. Just a thought.
Here's a fun name since you asked for a name for the bear stamp.... Crusty the Bear... official Mascot of the Crusty Art Family or Crusty Art Supplies!
Mistakes can turn into to new ideas. I have often a point where I go, ähm no...but hey that is interessting...how did I do that...and than I enhance it in a nother project even more. Maybe you can use the earaser failor to emboss foil or so.

Bruh i am cool with that

Lighthouse! That would be SO cool ... with light shining outward!
A part 3 would be great! Love watching you create these 😊

The print gets better the more times you stamp with it! So cool!
I love how simple products can make beautiful art. Thank you for including the mistakes. I am really hard on myself. This is a nice reminder 😊. Thank you!💜
You made some beautiful Zen Tangles also! One of my favorites! Thank you so much for this awesome video! 🥰🌬💜✌
Of course we want a part three, Mira ❤️
I think the pencil stamp is my favorite. I'd definitely watch a part 3 of the resare series!

I love this! I tried to make a stamp before from an eraser but it didn’t look anywhere as good as these!
So happy. I love this series, yes another video please. Thank you for more videos. I love the bear!!!! I love the sea and son. I would love to see you stamp these in colours. Such a fun video. Thank you.
So cuuuute! There may or may not be giant erasers at the dollar tree 👀🏃🏻♀️💨 now I gotta go check
Yep. Got a set of 6 for $1.25 Went into a carving frenzy for hours and had a fabulous time. The lines were pretty sharp.bought some more for friends in print class to try. Have fun.
This was so fun to watch. You just let your creativity flow. Definitely would like this series.

Fun activity. Great message. My fav was the last one, the flower. Yes to a part 3!
Love this series! My teen and I may try this next weekend. 😊 Resare!
Now you could make a coloring page using all these stamps together! ❤
The sun and waves one was so pretty, reminded me of when I went to North Carolina beach ♥️🌞🌊
I hate the person that comments and says you don't do anything hard. You're always full of such bright and beautiful energy and definitely don't deserve it. This is a unique idea. We hope to see more creative crafts like this. God bless you.
I'm loving this series!! Really inspiring. Thank you! ❤️
Wow awesome 🥰
Part 3 please!! My favorites are the pencil and zendangle doodle. So fun!
For little round details like eyes I like to use the blade verticaly, turn it 360° and bam perfect circle out. This technique can also be use for little flower, I used my flat blade like this for stars. Works like à charm

What a great idea that it is cheap and effective 🙂
resare. I love your vids! keep it up!
What a lovely video =) Thanks for including the fail/encouragement. That little pencil is so stubby and cute =P

Eraser!! How fun
Love these! Resare. Also where did you get the tools?
I've definitely used sharpened pencils and paperclips to make stamps. They weren't quite as detailed, and they came out a little rough but they do work, just not as well.
I can't wait to try this myself!! I love watching you make yours, but your ink pad does stress me out hahaah
Was this actually 9 hours ago? For some reason I remember watching a part 2
Please continue with this series! I would love to se you make a monstera leaf!
That’s so cool
"It's so difficult to detail the little flower!" *five seconds later* "Let's add a leaf to the flower!"
My brain gets confused how to do this. If I want the line to stamp dark. I'd need to carve all the negative space.

You should try the reverse coloring book
I THINK SO TOO
Everyone like and comment on her comment to boost it so mira sees it 😁😁
These videos are so cute! I feel like the bear would have a name like Hector 😂 I loved drawing on my erasers as a kid. Resare!
have you tried the reverse coloring book?
Here's a fun name since you asked for a name for the bear stamp....
Crusty the Bear... official Mascot of the Crusty Art Family or Crusty Art Supplies!
