Tyler, all alone on a big and empty stage with just a piano for company. Singing about suicide, a topic very near and dear to his heart. His voice breaks, along with our hearts. He is close to tears along with us. We are with him, even if you can't see us. He is with us, even if we can't see him. He loves us all, just as we love him.

It's not the number of people you have around you. It's about you. I see you, I appreciate the battles you fight, you're right it's not about comparing pain, it's about having compassion for your own pain and that of others. You know what's ironic, people recognize that certain people are worse off yet do nothing to help, those people should stay quiet in such matters. If they are willing to ask why? they should have the patience to listen not have preconceived notion of whether an individual's pain is valid or not. Collectively as a culture we think so illogically and feel so little that it's really a shame to have all the material things we have because we actually don't know how to use it properly.

Jared Padelecki, one of the stars of the show Supernatural, had to deal with this, and he's been an outspoken activist about it. He was diagnosed with depression literally on set, and has been struggling with it for a long time. Plenty of people have basically said things like, "You're the star of a huge hit show, you're rich, you have a beautiful wife and kid, tons of friends and fans. What is there to be depressed about?" And he usually goes off on those people. Because like you said, it's not about what you have, it's about how you think, and that's a totally different can of worms. People who don't struggle with mental illness often don't understand what it's like for your own thoughts to be out of your control. It's the scariest part of it all, to me at least, but those who don't know how it feels are just like, "So... don't think like that? Don't think those things? Think positively!" It's a bit like telling a healthy person, "Oh, you like clouds? So just jump real high and touch them!"

He's a good performer, so he's good at hiding it, but when you put together his expression, his body language, and his voice, he was probably about to cry and trying to hold it in. Hello, everyone. I'm fan from Russia. I started listening to Twenty One Pilots recently, literally with the release of the album Trench. I don't know much English (even this comment I'm writing via google-translate), and at first just enjoyed the beautifully composed music and Tyler's beautiful voice. But I decided to read the translation of the songs into Russian. Vol... this is amazing. It touched me to tears (I hope the translator did not distort this phrase). In Russia, few people raise such serious topics in songs. It's been a long time since I've heard something so profound and meaningful. These songs really made me think about me and what surrounds me. Songs Pilots comparable to a friendly conversation on a serious topic or reception at the psychologist. After them you... you look on the other side of the world, friends, relatives and what surrounds you. I learned to appreciate what I have and stopped crying about what was and is gone or what I will never have. Thank You, Twenty One Pilots. Your creativity... it's like a breath of fresh air. After your songs really want to live, create, love and appreciate everything.

    Lyrics:
    What's my problem?
Well, I want you to follow me down to the bottom
    Underneath the insane asylum
Keep your wits about you while you got 'em
'Cause your wits are first to go while you're problem-solving
    And my problem?
We glorify those, even more, when they
    My opinion
Our culture can treat a loss
Like it's a win and right before we turn on them
We give them the highest of praise, and hang their banner from a ceiling
    Communicating, further engraving
An earlier grave is an optional way
    No
    Neon gravestones try to call
    (Neon gravestones try to call)
Neon gravestones try to call for my bones (neon gravestones try to call)
    Call (For my bones)
    Call, call, call
    (Call, call)
    Call
    Call (call)
    What's my problem?
    Don't get it twisted
It's with the people we praise who may have assisted
I could use the streams and extra conversations
I could give up, and boost up my reputation
I could go out with a bang
    They would know my name
They would host and post a celebration
My opinion will not be lenient
    My opinion, it's real convenient
Our words are loud, but now I'm talking action
    We don't get enough love?
    Well, they get a fraction
They say, "How could he go if he's got everything?"
I'll mourn for a kid, but won't cry for a king
    Neon gravestones try to call
    (Neon gravestones try to call)
Neon gravestones try to call for my bones (neon gravestones try to call)
    Call (For my bones)
    Call, call, call
    Promise me this (call, call)
    If I lose to myself
    You won't mourn a day
And you'll move onto someone else
    Promise me this
    If I lose to myself
    You won't mourn a day
And you'll move onto someone else
    Neon gravestones try to call
    (Neon gravestones try to call)
Neon gravestones try to call for my bones
    Neon gravestones try to call
    (Neon gravestones try to call)
Neon gravestones try to call for my bones
    But they won't get them
    No, they won't get them
    They won't get them
    But they won't get them
    Don't get me wrong
    The rise in awareness
Is beating a stigma that no longer scares us
    But for sake of discussion
    In spirit of fairness
Could we give this some room for a new point of view?
And, could it be true that some could be tempted
To use this mistake as a form of aggression?
    A form of succession?
    A form of a weapon?
    Thinking "I'll teach them"
    Well, I'm refusing the lesson
It won't resonate in our minds
I'm not disrespecting what was left behind
Just pleading that "it" does not get glorified
Maybe we swap out what it is that we hold so high
Find your grandparents or someone of age
Pay some respects for the path that they paved
    To life, they were dedicated
    Now, that should be celebrated

@@user_28373 you get it especially when it happened once to many times. One should never have happened in the first place. The beautiful part of the song is the celebration of life and understanding your elders know more than you.
Not that you can't learn from the younger to . Nothing wrong with having some kind of anxiety now that's turned in to a big stigma . To Bad when people try to figure you out some will assume you don't have self-esteem or something else . This happened to someone I knew recently, and I have to say that I feel the same thing. Sometimes we're very detached from what we see through social media, but when it happens so close to you, it makes you realize how valuable life is and how painful this subject is.
Tyler wrote a song about what it's like to lose a friend on his college album, No Phun Intended. It's called Taken By Sleep. Very emotional, but definitely a recommendation.
Also, I've seen your channel before. Keep up the great work on your music.

Shame when we find musicians like him we insult them and say that they are copying tøp. Half Alive would be a good example (they made their own sound following their album release though).

It blows my mind to think that their are people out there who can’t or won’t appreciate the talent this band has. He speaks so much truth, Tyler makes me understand the shit that we all suffer and go through. The kind of suffering that I can never put into words or begin to explain. But he makes it make sense. Please tell me I’m not alone in this?¿

So good! This song is so important-mental health awareness is definitely something that needs to be addressed, but the media is glorifying suicide-we should be giving those with mental illness the attention and help they need while they are with us. Please make sure those you know with depression and anxiety the unconditional love they deserve, it might make all the difference to that person!

3:25 to 3:38 is when you can feel the real power coming from his voice. From that very point it starts to sound like he’s gonna start to shout rather than sing because of how strong the message is.. and when it hits 3:36 his voice cracks because he has to compose himself and stop himself from shouting. It’s a truly powerful message and I can completely understand why this song is needed.
