Made this for our small thanksgiving meal! And it was fantastic! Extremely juicy on the inside-didn’t even need gravy! And crispy on the outside; exactly how it’s supposed to cook it! Was very simple prep and clean up! Haven’t had mine a week and this is my second meal. Absolutely a raving fan about my new foodie!
Thank you for asking, Bob! We'd like to let you know that it will definitely change the taste of the chicken, and we encourage you to try it out and let us know your feedback! Hearing your thoughts will make us improve our recipes!
Cool thing is that after you've roasted your chicken and stripped all the meat off the bones, you can make your own chicken broth using the bones and in the broil for 10 mins with a Miraprois and then pressure cook function for 2.5 hours.
Tried this exact recipe 2 times with Ol501 model. Overburned skin!! I wonder if 1. I should avoid olive oil on skin since it burn at low temp? 2. I should lower temp or time.. or both? 3. My Ninja is broken.

I made this and it was tough as an old boot. We could barely cut it. I followed recipe exactly, except for peppercorns as my store was out of stock. It was a frozen chicken at the market as they had no fresh whole chickens in stock. What could I have done wrong?
Great question, the SteamCrisp Technology is available on the Ninja Foodi 14-in-1 8-qt. SMART XL Pressure Cooker Steam Fryer with SmartLid & Built-In Thermometer, check it out here spr.ly/6052zgp8w.
Not a comment on this recipe but the steam and crisp with temperature probe. So far, overcooked bottom round roast and was super dry, pork loin was overcooked in most areas by the time the middle came to temp, most was dry and yuck. Chicken on top rack gets a bit burnt where it is thinner. I have a turkey breast and am scared to ruin it too. YOU NEED TO BE ABLE TO CONTROL THE STEAM TIME SO IT LASTS LONGER! Also, if I set probe to 145, does it turn off at 145 or earlier to account for resting carry over cook time? I do love the ability to set the natural release time or have it quick release on its own. But the probe option has been disappointing and large meat items have all been overdone - and I like things more done so if it’s too done for me, that’s saying something.
We're so sorry to hear you are unhappy with the results of the protein when cooked on steam and crisp setting. We recommend trying it a lower time in 10 to 15 minute increments. Please know protein continues to cook once it has been removed while the temperature probe is still inserted. In the meantime, we will forward your view along to our team for review.
Thank you for reaching out to Ninja! You could use extra virgin olive oil or vegetable oil instead of canola oil. Let us know if you have any other questions, we are here for you.
I'm with rupart, very complicated. I can't give it a good or bad Critique as of yet cause all I have cooked in it so far are some boiled eggs & rice (loved it) and that's only because the directions on that was 1, 2, 3. The manual that came with the unit is every vague & poor pictures, and most of the recipes are half explained & I went to RUclips & most of the video's there shows older units where you have to swap tops depending on what your trying to cook !!! The directions shows how to use the unit with the roasting rack & without it, but the third item, the dark gray tray with three rubber footing (nothing) I have no idea what to do with that, is that only for steaming because I can't see those rubber footing being able to withstand 350+ degrees. On some meals, you have to stop the cooking process open lid rearrange your meal or flip your meat over then restart. At the moment, I'm cooking a whole 6lb chicken using the steam/crisp method, so I'll be back on the pros & con's. My Good Ole jet stream oven is looking better & better (1995 model) & still going strong!!!
For a 6 to 7 pound chicken, please Select STEAM & CRISP, set temperature to 365°F and set time to 55 minutes. If the chicken is a little smaller, you may want to check on it a few minutes sooner.
Hi, I've got 14in 1 ninja (Australia), when i move the lid to middle position, it gives me 4 options: steam meals, steam airfry, steam bake and steam bread. So what one do I use to cook this recipe?
@Ninja Kitchen as stated in Olesya Popescu's post, her machine does not have 'steam crisp' option. @Olesya Popescu I'm guessing it would be 'steam airfry'.

Thanks for the Video. I have a question. I made a breadcrump coating my chicken. Can i also use the Steam Air Fry Funktion? Iam affraid i lose the coating because the Steam?
Thank you for reaching, Uwe! We understand your concerns, and want to let you know that the Steam & Crisp function will keep all the juices inside and crisp the outside of the chicken. Please let us know if you try it out, We'd love to hear what you think of it!

@@NinjaKitchenUS can I cook a whole chicken and chips/fries at the same time? Do I start of with the chicken then add the crisp and bake tray with the chips? Do I change the smart lid setting after cooking the chicken to air fry. I’m with Rupert it’s complicated.

True story mine did
I was like your husband, skeptical about it. it has won me over. Chickens and roasts turn out amazing. Best cooking appliance I've ever bought.
Say I'm getting my foodi tomorrow ive already have the two lid one so thxs on ur video chicken looks so good better than I've seen on other videos
Thank you for your feedback, Kevin! We are thrilled to hear that you are enjoying our products, and thank you for sharing with us.
Quel bel appareil 😍 thanks
Flavorful chicken but I didn't see one bit of seasoning on or in that chicken.
So yeah... this recipe slaps differently. Was pretty amazing. Juice chicken with a crispy, satisfying outside 🫡
nice.
Soooo excited! Mine is arriving on Monday. First time ninja owner and cant wait to make yummy keto meals while saving on electricity 😍

Serious question… Does adding broth, juice, seasoning, etc. to the pot actually impart a noticeable flavor difference to the roasted chicken?

Did you cook it from frozen?
Dont cook it for 55min, Cook it to temp. A guy made this recipe on RUclips and posted it and the chicken was 190 temp after 25min.
This time and temp WAY OVERCOOKS a chicken.
You are right. There is a serious problem with temp / time on this one. I wonder how can they missed it so much.
My ninja giving option only steam 😔

Slide the slide to the middle position and steam/crisp will show up above the dial. That's where you will find steam/bake also.

Is that Fahrenheit or Celsius ? Vent open or closed ? Add basket ? Very poor video
Hi Steve, when using the Steam and Crisp function, the valve should be turned to the vent position. This recipe is in Fahrenheit.
