Reminds me of the days with Rich Sandarg, The Chief, Eddie Lacey, Mario, Joey Imprescia, Richie Ambrose, Ted "Mr. Stream himself" Bravo, the Kailbat brothers etc. I really miss all these pioneers of fast outboard boats. :)
Al Mourno Flipped his tunnel boat in the South of France in a race , Formula one or Champ I can't recall but he flipped it at130 mph and he said the motor pushed him out of the cockpit in the roll and split the boat in half. This was a 17 ft 6 inch long Serious race boat. Al lived to tell my dad and me the tale and Sid Bass from Bass Machine he builds all the racing lower units and whatever he wants lol. Sid lived a half mile from our place. And Al about 3 miles away. We all lived on or near the water. Al was such a cool guy one time we were visiting him and I pointed out an old truck in the sticker bushes. Al told my dad if we dig it out and get rid of the sticker bushes we could have the vehicle. so we spend almost a week getting all this sticker bushes ripped up and cleared out. But I knew this was a peach!. Even before we doug it out. So we get it home and sand blast it to see what is really there and it's a 1932 Dodge Brothers Sedan Delivery. Only 7 known to exist then in 2003 or so ho cool is that? Oh hang on it gets cooler. My dad was a custom car builder for George Barris Custom Rods and helped build the Munsters Mobile and the Pink Panther cars and others. I still have pics of dad and the cars and whatever back in the day. He was a lead painter and fiberglass guy. Bob Ormiston rest in peace pops!!!! Miss ya man!
This video is without doubt the best outboard performance video I've ever seen. So much so it has rekindled my interest. I'm an old salt that had high performance boats back in the day. Where can I get a 21'-22' Talon or Liberator all hooked up? I'm up in Bellingham Wa and these farmers won't touch my 2.5 Drag Merc. I designed and built this bitchen boat and finally got the best motor for the job and I can't get past a few bugs. I'm a serious boat head and live on my Sailboat and have tons of cool boats and boat stuffs. And loads of real boat Racing stories. My tunnel Hull " Hurricane Power Boats" has seen 130 with my 2.5 . I just bought a mini boat mold with a modified tunnel at 8 or 10 foot or so that has promise.
Great video I love that talon cat, I'm not into the Stv's tho getting over them just straight line. Give me a V bottom any day you can drift into bends takes more balls to go fast too. You want to see a fast V bottom look at my vids
I liked my fast boats long before this garbage music and long after it's irrelevant I still like the boats but gotta say. I didn't listen to this mindless bullshit in 2012 and no way in hell I can tolerate it now. Someone has a very sad perception of music.
