GW: this weapon will outright kill you.
GW: here's a piece of armour to protect you against that weapon. We call it "Armour save".
GW: ok, so this weapon is really good at piercing armour so it has a better chance of killing you. We call it "Armour Piercing".
GW: ok, right, here's the deal. To protect you against that horrible weapon we just designed, here's a piece of armour that protects you well vs. all types of armour piercing weapons; we call it "Invulnerable save".
GW: hmmm, so our engineers designed this weapon that will cut right through that special new armour we just gave you. We don't call it anything, it just ignores the Invulnerable save you got previously.
GW: right, sit down for a moment. We've created a new type of save that ignores your previous ignore "Invulnerable save" weapon. we call it "Fuck you save".
Me: ...
Great video, nice idea!
Love this idea and hearing your thoughts; looking forward to more! Not sure you need to read the entire articles verbatim though. Maybe just key passages? Hearing your take is more interesting than GW's text
if they cant be modified at all its probably easier as cover and the like wont effect them so its always going to be the same 2 numbers for each unit. but I'm sure more layers will be unfortunately added.
If you scroll down Liam it says some more!
“While this may look an awful lot like an invulnerable save, it’s not - daemons are far stranger! Even a railgun can’t just ignore Daemonic Invulnerability”
Damn! So those asterisks are worth reading??
@@LiamDempsey40k I believe this is a first! Saves the community from getting at each other’s throats.
Great video looking forward to more of them! In the asterisk section of the article it clarifies that the Daemon saves cannot be ignored by rules like the railgun
Can’t believe I missed this.
I'm glad you're going to be making more video's, I have really liked you take on the codex's before. Keep up the good work, and I look forward to seeing more of these
Awesome, a well produced & presented video with character….. not like a slide show with a mundane voice
Keep up the great work Liam
I like the video format.
If each of the Daemon hordes has 1 set of save numbers across the army, I think this is a pretty cool fluffy rule. I like the idea that daemons should be hard to kill. I like the fluffiness of Khorne daemons being hard to hit with guns but once they get into melee Khorne not caring from where the blood flows. I expect based on the phrasing of the article, and the units and pictures selected, it's going to be something where there will be a god-specific baseline set of saves and that if there are outliers it will be things like greater daemons having improved variants while nurglings don't get the full bonuses.
Makes them more unique at the very least 🤷♂️😅
Well pointing out the Tau can't handle the warp would be nice if it didn't work against deamons
Great to see the short videos back. I'm the same, glad that bloodletters will get across the table better but the added layers I'm not so keen on but will see when they show us more. 👍
Like the format, like the higher resolution. All a good step in the right direction. Thanks
Everything you do is very much appreciated. Thanks for all the extra content.
Appreciate you Jack.
I like that groovy intro
as new 40k player this video going help me out lot to understanding what to expect in upcoming different army's codex on wat that model can or can t do + interesting on save they get if in melee or shooting but overall i wait see what to come in future also i hope make more video on this Liam this help out lot with new players like me.
Quite positive about the change. As new rules go, remembering two saves isn’t the worst thing
I guess if you're playing 5 or 6 armies remembering daemon save profiles might be trickier than when it's one of your main armies that you play a lot. Especially in front of a camera or during a tournament. Daemon saves are not that complex, you have to remember 2 numbers instead of 1. They don't interact with cover or get negated by abilities that ignore invulnerable saves, so those two numbers are always the same. I get that people don't like the idea of an extra type of save, but it's absolutely needed for daemons.
Edited to add that I absolutely like this type of content, keep it up!
Hey Liam, great video! Daemons having the two different saves makes sense as they should be scary in close combat. Keep up the great work!
Thanks man!
Be interesting to see if Null Zone affects Daemonic Saves, same as the Judiciar thing that turns them off too
Excited for new Daemon codex and I like the intention behind this dual save daemonic save mechanic. I'm not a fan of another layer of complexity and also what it could mean for Grey Knights - I now think "will this see a faq for Grey Knight giving them special anti-daemonic save abilities to represent their lore strengths against daemons.
Great Video 📹, Keep the contents coming, Love the idea of these videos.
Good idea for the vids. 10 minutes is plenty enough. Keep up the good work
i heard if shooting into combat demonic invuns have to be added together and divided by the strength of the weapon if this number is equal to or greater than the charge roll the unit used to get into combat the save is passed
Do you work for GW??
I enjoy hearing your thoughts on these sorts of updates and previews. However, Auspex Tactics started to do a great deal of these and I've had the feeling for quite awhile that it is filler content and I have found the reporting aspect of such content with little added speculation or greater analysis of potential effect on the game has hurt my opinion of such creators that normally make quite high quality content. YMMV. If the content has meat to it I'll enjoy it
Shorts of 10 to 15 minutes are great for me.
Love it!!
They make a point of saying daemon saves are because of psychic/warp fuckery, so I would think things like force weapons, witchblades, psy-canons, and null zones should cut through or effect the saves, at which point, you're back to things ignoring invuln saves. Seems like unnecessary rules bloat to me.
Posted at end of article "** While this may look an awful lot like an invulnerable save, it’s not - daemons are far stranger! Even a railgun can’t just ignore Daemonic Invulnerability."
Bloodletters going down to Ld 6 does concern me. They got tougher but now you've only got to kill 1 to force moral. I'm guessing you'll be able to modify it somehow, with either characters or maybe banners got a buff but hopefully you don't need a bloodthirster babysitting bloodletters like you do now. They should be up the field killing stuff, not making sure your objective holders don't run away.
So this means that daemons can have saves versus Mortals... I'm sort of alright with it, being as my Tau only have access to two guns that ignore invulns anyway. I'd like to see how tough they are against Burst Cannons 😄
I don’t think it protects them Vs mortal wounds. Since mortal wounds don’t force any kind of save. They just happen.
@@LiamDempsey40k I think you're right... I was going off the stupid assumption that MW's are wounds that ignore all save, and Daemon Saves somehow nullifies them.
Reading is hard 😄
@@hooooobs About a month ago I scoffed at them, thinking that Strikes and stealthsuits have the base covered anyway, but after trying them out on teams of 4 Crisis on top of dual Plasma I have a lot of shots handy for when I need them in the late-game.
Demons need a boost so think its good start. Hopefully, more to come and better relics/strats.
Not a hard thing to remember two saves eh? I for one don't find it a stretch.
Too many weird saves in the game at the moment. layering extra saves is silly to me - comes from exclusively using D6's and mathammering around it.. I'd rather they went back to other dice. I'd suggest 1 save only but move to D20 for armour saves. It scales better for every weapon and armour type
It will be great for daemons to be more survivable. I really hope they do clarify this though.
Nice one mate! Short form videos should appease the Algorithm God and although bite size videos are done by lots of YTers I think it’ll help get your vids in front of more eyeballs. But don’t forget those asterisk ;-)
Grey Knight's lack of AP now makes a bit more sense. S4 storm bolters are going to be interesting against T4 hordes bloodletters but should make more interesting games rather than just hanging back and blasting. I think I like the change.
I would've just left them modifiable but unremovable for instance 4+ but +1 at range -1 in melee BOOM
For the algorithm!
Like this, looking at an aspect of the game a bit more indepth, should encourage interaction and generate more interest.
I like these shorter videos for sure, and I, like yourself, like the idea but adding more stuff to remember isn't the best. I have been waiting for something good for my Slaaneshi Daemons for a long time though so I will take what I can get! :)
Sorry late for the party have I missed much
Wtf? Why do blood letters get such a good ranged save? They just charge straight into melee..... Should be the easiest of the deamons to hit with a gun and harder to hit in melee.
Boo turn it off!! LOL just playing I love this s*** but for real though how are the pink horrors more squishy now I'm missing something I'm not trying to object I'm just saying I must be missing something from what I see the only thing that changed is now that also have an even better save against range attack but nothing else changed so how are they more squishy in melee?
