    Bought my 1998 in 2001; no leaks, no issues at all. Replaced ragtop but otherwise love everything about it. Just recently did the glovebox repair. You seem to be a “run into the ground” car owner, not a loving Bimmer owner. Stop whining and take care of your Z3!

      True I was so how can I be a run into the ground person. Have had it for 4 years with 180k miles now. Great paint new clutch, hardtop, new soft top, and everything. Pretty sure my cars pretty up to date now lmfao

      Also have a new lid for the storage compartment now too and iv’e never had leaks either, I was saying how other bmw’s leak mines never leaked either

    I owned one. The engine and tranny were great, but everything around it slowly started to fail. Parts were expensive and I replaced more parts on that car than any other. And the other drivers were mean to me! I have never experienced this type of behavior with any other car. People would cut me off, not let me merge; basically acted like they had a grudge against me.
    The interior panels are made from a plastic that breaks easily. So, if you aren't super careful taking a panel off, it will break at he point of attachment. Glove box is almost guaranteed to be broken. Cooling system leaks from plastic parts. A replacement hood was over $1200 15 years ago.
    I now have a '13 miata prht club sport and love it. The dimensions are almost the exact same as a Z3. I couldn't get myself to buy a NB miata because they were too small for me, so I bought the Z3. The Z3 is my biggest automotive mistake. The best cars I've owned are the ones made in Japan. good luck

    Looks like you need a glove compartment latching mechanism replacement. Happens a lot over the years with cars as they get older regardless of manufacturer. Can be a pain to swap, could be easy, hard to say because they are all different.
    As for the screeching and the windows:
    Screeching doors might just need wd40. Windows; glass cleaner. Might also need a new motor soon.

  • @stustockwell
    @stustockwell 3 года назад +1

    Also window motors and stuff, easiest way to check is to pull the connections on the window motors, clean the terminals with electrical parts cleaner, a little dilectric grease on the leads and it may help.
    rear compartment is easy. Make a template out of cardboard, cut some 1/2" wood, cover with diamond stitch quilted leather and let err eat

    Try using compressed air in the striker and latch. Probably dirty. A little silicone detail spray in both locations should help too. There's a reason the glovebox isn't closing. Slamming is not the right option.

      @thistimeimhere 2 года назад

      Aye no worries dude. Didn't mean it to sound like a dig. Just seems like easy things to fix. I suppose with that mileage it's had a lot more use than mine.
      I always replace the entire cooling system and stick a metal water pump in when I buy a 90s/20s BMW. They are just crap systems.
      I've heard a lot of BMW drivers say 'this is normal' BMW things when they aren't. Like ticking engines or tramlining or using oil which is only normal if they aren't maintained.
      Given yours has 180k(which I didn't release) it's slightly different.
      Anyway good luck with the car.
