5k is a killer deal for that much car, especially in this bubbled-up market. nice find puchii. i wish rough 986 examples were still 5k. i'd be in there like swimwear.

I just paid a multiple of that for my Z3, though getting the significantly hotter 3.0 M54, a whopping 40K on the clock, and the optional hardtop was worth that premium to me.
For $5K I'd absolutely rock a 2.8, though. My mom had one when I was in high school and it was an absolute blast to bomb around in. :)
I spent $3.2k on a B5 A4 Quattro 1.8T in good condition with 190k miles and honestly i’ve been having a lot of fun. Have K04 Turbos, RS4 clutch, and short shifter from ECS tuning. Will continue to work on it and hope you guys review it one day when it has more money dumped in it

Fun fact, BMW in SC used to host a 'homecoming' for Z3 owners. When the Z4 came out they also included those. I went to 2 of them with my mothers '96 4 banger (the first year). That car made her get a Z4 next and now a 328i and she won't even consider anything but BMW now, thanks to the Z3.

Can confirm, gotta 1980 te72 w 850k miles for $3k a few months ago. Checks ever box; 4 doors, rwd, 5 speed, weighs less than a miata, engine+tranny cost $300-$400, easy to work on, 30+ mpg, the list goes on. Best recession beater drift car ever
Would emphasize looking for the sport body ones. The sedan and wagon are mediocre and common
@@lbpellizzer wagon is definitely too much but the sedan is still light weight and has a short wheel base. With an exhaust, upgraded carb and lowered its enough for me!

Traded a manual Base RSX with 250k miles for a 97 Miata with 140k with a bad AC compressor and pretty bad paint. Gotta say the Miata is a lot more fun to drive, but this GA heat sucks right now with no AC

A few months ago I bought a 2004 1ZZ Celica for £3500, with only 55k miles on the car and no rust. Spent an extra £1000 on consumables like brake discs, pads, tyres, sway bar links, etc.
But for £4500 for such a low mileage example, I really lucked out. It's really practical as well, shockingly so. For a first sports car I couldn't have done any better for something with more than 2 seats.
It's not the top of the line but that's still going to be a fun and extremely reliable car. CHECK THOSE PRECATS THOUGH
Check out the rear subframe/diff spot welds under the trunk carpeting. These cars are notorious for popping welds, with the whole trunk floor eventually separating.

I was just trying to buy one from craigslist from a guy that was selling his for 1120$. It was dark green a RWD 4cyl with a manual that has low compression in cyl 2, but he flaked out on me and the deal.

There is a good chance the traction control module was removed. It is a common mod on e36s and there was a lot of carry over to the Zs

Why would they delete it just curious? They have a DSC off button which I thought turned TC off as well but I may be wrong.

Dude my neighbor has this blue Z3 and it's nice but I get so pissed because he doesn't know how to drive manual every time I hear that man pull in or out of the driveway, he's always revving the fuck out of it while dragging the clutch.
And it's not like he's new at driving the thing, he's had it ever since I moved in, he just thinks that that's how you drive manual

Sc400 yo, basically a v8 supra, lol, but for real sc400 is kinda what i am leaning towards as a first car, cause s-chassis are a shitshow, and modding is fairly cheap, but there qrent q ton of things to do to it so idk

So I had barley owned the car when I commented on this.
Because, I live near Seattle and it rains even in July.
Got the car dirt cheap with just needing a top and seats.
Anyway the 4cyl makes it drive like a miata. It just has the one thing miatas are missing and that's torque.
Even gave my boss a ride. Big miata fan he even noticed it.

@@CollectorCarFeed well, to be fair, I'm a little biased because I'm a honda fan and y'all give the s2000 a hard time and it is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME. lol I have had 3 over the years and the current one isn't going anywhere. BMW's look nice, that is all. I'm enjoying the channel though so keep it up!
@@user-ek5nl1jc4b They're also great to drive when they've been looked after, maintenance is key. These models are probably the most reliable and are usually cheap and easy to fix.
@@EasyAchiever65 I agree that maintenance is a big factor in any cars reliability. I've just talked to too many mechanics along with friends who have tried bmw ownership, haven't seen too many satisfied with their purchase other than saying "I just like headache because I like the way they look". I've had beat hondas that just keep on ticking along even if it has 50 problems and a million lights on the dash, they just run.
I just went outside and checked, still a car, not a pit with money in it.

It's cheap because nobody wants it. Having driven plenty, the z3 is one of the most underwhelming pos cars I've ever driven. I would take a rusty miata with 200k for the same price over that trash any day.
