    Warmoth used to supply charvel when charvel first started making modded strats. Eddy Vanhelen's Frankinstrat started life in the scrap bin at charvel, so this is your Frankinstrat. Cool guitar ,imperfections just make it more rock n roll.

    Dimarzio Super Distortion is a classic, always works for me, just the sound I grew up with.... Frehley, Al DiMeola etc. Try a Dimarzio X2N if you get a chance, not for everyone, but a fun ride👍

    Keep the super d sir. Sounds great. We have almost the same preferences in guitars. Same specs basically I would get. Love the a symmetrical necks. Had one on a USA made Peavey Wolfgang. Most comfortable neck ever for me.
    I think I will go with a Gotoh bridge / floyd copy since I love my Gotohs on my Ibanez axes. The edge, erc. I think they are made by Gotoh. I've had one before and really really liked it. 1996t gofoh and it's only about a 100 bucks. So much less expensive and quality. It reminds me of my Schaller floyd on my 1990 Charvel preditor.
    Were the stainless frets good and level or did you have to do any leveling? Were you able to get the action pretty low? I like it low to medium usually. I don't play super fast personally even though I love shred, but I'm more of a blues and blues rock guy. I do love a whammy bar and Steve Vais stuff, etc.
    Anyway. Great video my friend.
    Regards from Southern Indiana USA.

      Cheers Tim!
      Yeah the neck is very unique and addictive in a way..
      About the frets, yeah I had to go and get a proper fret job, the fret end were sharp and the action couldn't get low without getting buzz and dead notes.. but now it's great.
      Looking forward to see your build it sounds very cool!

    I have a super distortion in a 5150 EVH striped Kramer copy and I love it. If you like the early EVH tone this will get you as close to it as possible. It's quite a bit "thicker" or bassier than most high output pickups. It works great with a boosted Marshall not as great with my Mssa or EVH Stealth.

    • @OferHolan
      @OferHolan  Год назад

      I agree, lots of bass in that pickup.
      It does resembles some VH tones.
      Pretty cool pickup, that guitar is all over my album.

    My next purchase will be a super strat and that is my combination of pickups, I just discovered Warmoth and loved the idea of getting my own custom guitar... Question: Tha is the strat body or the soloist body? They are similar.

    • @OferHolan

      Awesome good luck with it!
      This is a strat body, the soloist got deeper cutaways and is a bit smaller I believe.

    Is that tremelo floating or dive only? I did see the recess cut behind the bridge. I love that configuration of guitar. Tech questions; what pots did you use...a 500k for volume, a 250k or 500 for the tone? Love that Seymour Duncan quarter pounder...the bridge sounds fine. But if you wanna try another bridge pickup, the EVH Wolfgang shoul pare up nice with the neck...or maybe the WDM matching pickup. You sound good bro!

    • @OferHolan
      @OferHolan  3 года назад

      The tremolo is fully floating.

    Ofer, what was the measurement of the neck width at the nut also, that Seymore Duncan Quarter Pound sounds quiet, is there no 60 cycle hum or are running through a noise gate?

    • @OferHolan

      There is a hum when playing the QP unfortunately and yes I'm using a noise gate.

    I'm not super well versed in building, but is the string tree still necessary with the locking nut?

    • @OferHolan
      @OferHolan  3 года назад +2

      Yes, the string tree lowers the string so that when you lock the nut they won't go sharp because they dont rest flush with the nut without it..

      I did everything by myself except the fret crowning (That was really required).
      The guitar including all the parts cost me around 1400$ (not including shipping).. not so cheap but not really expansive considering all the specs i went for.

    That looks like a super sweet axe. And your playing is pretty kick-ass, too.
    I thought the Super Distortion sounded perfectly acceptable, but it's not about my opinion, nor is it about anyone else's except yours. If you're not digging the sound of that pickup, replace it with something you'll like better. Otherwise you'll always wonder how good it _could_ have been.
