I (almost) didn't like the original when I first heard it when it was a "hit" on radio (MTv?) many many moons ago!
...this song is actually a VERY good folk/rock tune when stripped-down to it's bare-bones by a competent singer/player like Brooke!

I have to imagine that most tunes begin either with an acoustic guitar or a piano. I reckon this song kicked off with an acoustic guitar. . . . . but then a producer comes in to play and turned it into what we all know as a Rock song. Nothin' wrong with that at all!! 🤷🏻♂
The simple things in life are often the best!! This version of this classic is an example of that. 🤷🏻♂
