I bought one of these a few years back. I love how it looks. Pads are excellent. Sadly loading time and corrupting samples and a terrible coloration to the sound when sampling made me return it. Shame as it’s a nice little device but
I've used one for 5 years. A lot of organization and structure when you're putting the samples together is important. It takes a lot of effort to set up but people are quite impressed with the results. I use all kinds of samples probably more than 250. Length of samples should be kept really short as possible. They CAN be long but not always the best policy. I bought two of them. I wish there was more direct way to interface with a pc to speed up the set up time.
Hello! I have an MPX16 and I can't find the user kits! I scroll through the internal kits (i01 to i10) and that's all there is. The manual says that the user kits have an "e" at the front, but doesn't give any other information on how to find/edit them. I'd assume you just scroll through the kits to find them? Am I missing something??! Great demo by the way!
bout it, selling it. The sample loading speed killed it for me. Also, the audio playback quality is sub par. If you are considering live gigging, keep in mind it takes around 2 minutes to load the samples - if your samples are not big or high quality wavs. It's a shame. It would be awesome (and I would gladly pay extra $$$) if it had a decent processor and it worked properly.
Hi. At the end of this video you said "there are other comparative devices on the market" -- are there? Could you suggest some? I want: - No computer required to play live (loading samples is fine). - Not too big - Nice pads
I guess I was thinking mostly of the Korg Electribe 2 which is exactly the same size but far more versatile and also has a battery power option. Then there's the Akai MPX500 and Boss SP series which are all stand-alone units. Slightly more expensive but well worth the extra :)

Glad you liked the video :) I could be wrong but I think the sample limit was 90 seconds. You can store as many samples as you want in the memory card, but realistically you are limited to 16 as it takes so long to load up a new set.

I too was very underwhelmed by this unit. Looked like it has so much potential, but there were just too many little annoying things that made it slow and cumbersome....My main gripe was that it is not designed for live sampling/looping/editing. When adjusting filters etc... the change doesn't take effect until the sample restarts or is re-triggered. On a long ambient drone I could not do real-time filter effects. Also, editing waveforms in this unit was a total pain, especially if trying to create loops. I always ended up having to transfer the sample back into my computer to do any precise editing, and then re-import into the unit. Just never felt comfortable enough to trust using it live without issues, so I sold it.
yeah this th8ing annoyed the F out of me... I just use it for little live streams where I want 16 pre recorded things ready not any serious track work... I thought I just sucked...
For me, on the even lighter MPX8 the huge killer was it's MIDI implementation... Truly dreadful. I was debating to going up to the 16 as a MIDI percussion pad "brain" - literally using it as a triggered playback device. In the end went for the Alesis Samplepad Pro... Still got it's own set of quirks, but so much more intuitive and easy to use.
Don’t know to much about midi sadly but I would love to record some sounds from my Roland E-20 keyboard onto this sampler and use those samples with a Behringer Rd-6. My question is: Can you connect this sampler with the Rd-6 so it has the same tempo but doesn’t trigger the pads on the sampler?
I got one because it was going cheap. But, I must say it is, just, on the wrong side of cheap and cheerful. There again, I won't be using it a lot, so I can live with the short-comings.
