Welcome to a fun friday vlog at miami card show. I went around to dealers at the show and asked about their worst sports card loss or least favorite card in their showcase.... In exchange for sharing the honesty, i gave away a pack of 2023/24 Select Basketball Packs with Emano from Hobby Slam.
The sports card market has changed A LOT since the BOOM. Like and Comment who are you buying right now in sports cards? Football sports card investing can be ROUGH but also can turn big wins for people. This is the game we play. The nfl draft and season for 2024 is gonna be interesting to see who pans out.
The moral of the story: Buy what you love and get to that point where it wouldn't matter if the price went up or down because it is for your collection

Hopefully anytime someone goes to a card shop or one of these conventions keep in mind the cards that they have for sale understand that they paid less than half the value they're asking and that's what they would pay you for it not to mention they're not losing money they can write it off profit and loss from a business standpoint not to mention the cards that are being purchased at high dollar amounts that supposedly justifies them charging the amount of money they do is far and in between there's probably less than 5,000 people making major purchases and the normal everyday card collector is actually being taken advantage of it's like buying it to brakes you show up they have an NBA break posted but all of the good teams like the Spurs etc are already taken and all the second tier third tier teams are left you have to think you'd have to pull a super low number parallel to even make the money back that you're spending to buy that spot in the break these people know what they're doing that's why you always have the same people buying the same teams every go around and who knows if they're not in business with the card shops themselves getting some sort of kickback if they don't hit what would make them their money back anyways kind of like shill bidders don't buy repacks don't buy into brakes all of this crap it's just designed to take advantage of it and then whenever you go to cash out if you don't have the ability to sell your own cards you have to designate them for even higher premiums to these card shops consigning them and they're charging 30% and then they turn around and buy your cards under an alias for less than half of the value everyday there's videos popping up of people getting scammed everywhere these people aren't your friend they're not friendly they smile in your face while they take advantage of me this guy wants you to comment and like on the video for a free pack of cards I wonder how much money he makes off of each video depending on the activity on the video I don't know and this is all in general I've been to a lot of card shops across the country and they just remind me of pawn shops looking to pay you a fraction of what your stuff is worth
My worst investment was not bad do to the cards value but bad because I had my entire collection in a lock box in the cab of my pick up truck and my truck broke down on the side of the freeway at 4am on my way to work. By the time I came by to get my truck towed home later that day I found my truck window broken and my lock box of cards gone! I shouldn't have left them in the truck but it was 4 in the morning and I was so stressed about the truck breaking down and having to hitch hike to work etc .. that I forgot my cards were in the truck. There wasn't anything super valuable but there were some Michael Jordan cards that I had since I was a kid and some decent baseball cards. Some of the Jordans were even graded though they were not super valuable. Still it really sucked
I constantly laugh at the fact folks still buy unestablished players.
Exactly , people will pay thousands for a guy that never played an mlb game but won't pay a few hundred for a Freddie Freeman or Nolan arenado etc.
Those are the guys who hit on a gunner, malhomes before they are established so laugh all you want when the turnout to be awesome promise me you’ll cry
Worst purchase was a Kenny Pickett RPA /99 National Treasures, I'm thankful I got to move it fairly quick and only took a small loss on it.
I was a huge buyer of Ryan Tannehill hoping he was going to be the Miami Dolphins savior. I mean $1000's and $1000's in cards, signed items and memorabilia . Well...we know how that ended up.

My worst big buy was Trey Lance prizm RC during the hype. Only lost a few hundred but it hurt because I’m a 49er fan.

I bought a lot of Alonzo Morning, then he had health problems and had to stop playing basketball. His cards are worth 90% less than what I paid for them.
Raw 2019 Topps Chrome Refractor Fernando Tatis for $300. Huge FOMO when I saw the card. Sold great stuff to get cash and this is what I ended up with.

I bought a lot of Trey Lance cards. Being a 49ers fan I was hoping he would be the guy, but obviously that did not work out. Now he is on my least favorite team and I cannot give his cards away.
For me it was when I traded for a Optic Contenders RPA Blue Mac Jones /49 (mightve been /50). Traded high on it, and it's value dropped by 2/3 before I moved it. Totally regret it, but also blame psa since they took forever to grade it

Easily Mac jones during his rookie season I literally bought a folders full of Mac Jones rookie cards can't even sell them now

I have several personal favs that nobody wouldn't probably would drop a dime on, no worries!! I started card collecting to give to my grandson when I pass on...I'm also side hustling to sell cards, I LOVE it!!! Its a treasure hunt finding them, maybe finding that "gem..."My favs are players that I love, maybe the design, maybe the rarity, etc. EVERYONE has a favorite that are close to their heart, not their wallet!!
Worst investment was Alexander Maddison because he was supposed to be the #1 rb for the Vikings last year and I bought his camo prizm psa 10 and got crushed!

The only investment that I have is Miguel Cabrera. I know I made a wise decision to PC him. Other than that, I just collect for fun. Man, I bet thousands of collectors a ton of cash buying Wander's . Lucky for me I am wayyyy too poor to buy cards worth a lot of money so I have not lost any money. Loved the vlog, thanks for sharing !!

I bought a BGS 9.5 quad 9.5 Carmelo Anthony pristine rookie for 212…I was thinking I could do 300 with the previous sales I found but it sold for like 90 😢. Yea it was a lower amount in general but I was wel 💩
Worst investment has to be Jermar Jefferson. He was never “expected” to do big things. But I watched him in camp so much and he looked awesome. So I bought everything I could. Low price obviously nobody knows who he is…but still fails to elevate from practice squad 😂

I'm old school but mine was Christian Laettner. I did one thing right when I was younger and PC'd Nolan Ryan and on my wish list is his Auto and one day his Rookie. Maybe at National I can get the Auto. Thx for the content.

Bittersweet memory. During my first visit to Burbank (sweet part), I picked up my first Wander for a fairly decent amount … bitter part 😛
When I invested in Jordan Poole optic rated rookie /88 PSA 9 traded a $100 Poole at the time +400 cash that card is now worth $20 😅

Boxes from the back of shelf are loaded, bought contenders blaster and I got AR5 bronze parallel, Cj stroud patch, Cj stroud, Bryce young and will Levis. The stroud patch makes the box itself!

@@mojo_sports I like fields, Give him a good offensive line and some weapons and i think he will shine. If he gets his chance for the Steelers and he fails, i think that is the last straw. This is the perfect team for him. I just like Russell Wilson right now. He doesnt turn the ball over and thats what the steelers need. People say he didnt do well last year but 26 TDs to 8 ints is pretty damn good in my book. What you think?

I got caught up in the hype when Lebron cards were skyrocketing. I night his 2003 Topps rc psa for 10k. It's now worth 2k. Ouch. I will recover some of it but it's a loss for at least 10-20 years. Not the position i want to be in with it. Good news is the card collecting has done me very well on so many others that I'm okay with it. 🎉
