- i honestly thought i'd never see the day this video would go up but thank GOODNESS we are here!! amanda and i have seriously been talking/planning this long distance collab since the summer, but life has been crazy and it's been hard to really sit down and get it done. but! i opened up my questions a few months ago on instagram and asked what you guys wanted to know from amanda all things plant related! she was kind enough to spend some time to answer your questions, send lots of videos and photos, and basically just give you a peek into her planty life. it's such an honor to be able to do this with her and share some of that bunny goodness into the world. 🐰 i still haven't been feeling 100% health wise so unfortunately i couldn't get through all the questions, but part 2 will be coming soon!!

Hey Charmaine! Thank you for this video. I would still love to see a video with you and Alice going through the very basics of anthuriums for example what’s certain terms mean like “self” or “registered.” I for one am a beginner and feel like people are talking a different language or like they’re seeing things I’m not seeing when it comes to anthurium traits. If that seems like too broad of a topic I understand but it’s soooo difficult to find basic information online and no one dumbs it down for us 😂 anyway! This was such a nice collab! Thanks so much to Bunny for letting us get a little peak at her amazing collection and skills!

Amanda's voice is so lovely! Her voice is very similar to my friend J's, and all my friends and I love her voice. J also tends to send voice memos and it often makes my day. So glad we go to hear Amanda!
It's so fun to get some peeks into Amanda's place and see her huge plants. I'm all for research and then experimenting. Every person's home environment and care routine will be so different that no specific advice will work for everyone. I've learned to gear my substrate to my habit of underwatering. And when in doubt, more light almost always helps.

So I am personally a over potter and always over pot my plants. So for every reason that you listed as in why it can be risky to over pot, if you think about it are the same risk that you have from growing with no drainage holes. The one thing that I can say that I personally have learned from over potting, the first year you may not get the growth that you’re hoping for because the roots are establishing themselves fully in the pot. Year two and year three is when they will excel!!

Hi Charmaine! This was a fun video. I've been super reluctant to take the plunge on anthuriums solely due to the pest issues. Have dealt with spider mites and mealy bugs but the idea of thrips somehow terrifies me. Your Bunny plants and Alice's content tempt me to change my mind. What is your recommendation for an anthurium "virgin" who can only offer room temp and humidity, especially as we in NE Iowa are heading into winter? That means forced air heating and humidity so low you get a spark every time you kiss your husband.
Share your experience so others can add to it, or find a ñew solution, I like it the possibilities are endless

I messed up my anthurium in no drainage by using silica too. It sucks. My Mag was looking awesome and my Chiapense…. Lesson learned.
You mentioned what city she lives in a while ago, and I am in those FB groups because I live in the suburbs. It is easy to figure this out. Not sure if that matters to you or her or not. Just letting you know since you mentioned privacy.
She doesn’t mind that people knows she lives in Chicago. We aren’t giving her actual address out publicly.

It's interesting that you don't want to call the last one by its retail name. I am kinda in the same boat - I'd never call an Adansonii a Monkey Leaf. :D Overall, I'd love to see your take on taxonomy vs. retail names one day. Or perhaps we could do an interview for our blog.
Did anyone else have a black screen when Amanda was talking about how she grows in no drainage?
The black screen was intentional! She didn’t have any photos or videos for that, and I was like bending over right in front of the camera while I played the audio so I just opted for a black screen 😂 sorry should’ve put a disclaimer!
