Thanks for this. I was the one who put this soundtrack together in the early stages of the mod's development; back then we didn't have Jeremy Doyle, and had another midi composer whos works ultimately didn't get into the final product.
That's cool! Do you maybe still have those MIDIs? I could record that version of the soundtrack. Tell me also what version number the project had at that stage, so I can put it in the title. ;)
I lost all the files after having to leave the project to pursue a job offer on the game Terraria; I didn't have the time anymore, and the project ended up changing hands several times. Then a harddrive got wiped by a computer repair shop by accident, taking all the old Revilution files with it. I can probably contact the composer (He goes by UltimateDoomer666 on Doomworld), the midis will hopefully be part of the map pack composed of rejected content from Devilution and Revilution. Some small bits of trivia about the soundtrack that I remember: TiN Toker was requested by me specifically for TNT Devilution' first map, which started in front of the dead broken demonspitter from Last Call; it references the original TNT Map 30's music specifically for that reason. After the project split, we ended up with the midi instead. TermiNate and Torture was originally for a map from Devilution, that was cut and brought to Revilution, before being butchered and made unceognisable for the final release; the original map was a large gauntlet of hell map to start Episode 3 from, and featured a lot of arenas; the music fit these series of battles perfectly and focused my mind while I playtested the map. God ov Julenca was originally for Map 29, a giant behemoth of a map which was cut into a tiny tiny fragment, mirrored, then put into Map 32's slot. It was the end of a journey, all of hell's last resistance thrown defiantly at you as you closed in on the new big bad. Ionian Isolation was the very first midi exclusively for Revilution, and singlehandedly caused Map 12 to be reformed into a spooky horror map, and the entire second episode of Revilution was meant to follow. Many of the darker quieter midis that aren't from Jeremy Doyle were originally meant to be in these maps. Sea Bats was going to be used in TNT Convilution; the collection of the B-Side maps that didnt make the final 32. We would have closed it off with a joke map on the beach, a small vacation before Doomguy heads to Plutonia. It was a goofy thing that barely lasted past concept ideas. Atmosphere was the original intermission track, until Eris decided he didn't like it, then came up with Darkest Hour as a much better replacement. He was determined to pull it from the project entirely, but in the meantime, I slotted it into Map 31 which had no midi yet, and it just clicked into place and became inseperable. Eris made two more tracks for the project, Ragnorian Reprise, an attempt at a boss finale track that was cut early due to not meeting either of our expectations (And yes, its named after me; the other project leads kept calling the prototype final boss 'the Ragnorian'; my avatar is concept art of it that wasnt to be), and Frozen Wilderness, a track for the ice map we originally had planned for Map 32. Frozen Wilderness was removed after the ice map was deemed shit and cut, and later found a home in the ice levels of Eviternity.
Well it's your lucky day Ragnor, I actually still have the compiled MIDI pack from 2015 - I'm not sure if I can put links in comments without it getting caught up in spam filters though, but I could always send it to you on Doomworld or something if you want. By the way, Atmosphere went straight into MAP31, I remember the conversation was more or less "hey ragnor I just finished this track, reckon it would fit map31?" "yes." :D At the time it was my favourite thing I'd ever written. The old intermission theme was called Aftermath (easy to confuse the two titles to be fair :P) and I never did anything with it after I pulled it from the project, it was indeed pretty shit.
Thanks Obal! If you weren't notified, Freedoom has released a huge update (0.12) and the soundtrack got significantly altered.. Happy Holidays! If you have plans and can't do it immediately, take you time!
I was deciding to either upload only the changed tracks or whole three OSTs and now I am a bit confused, because the changelog says "New tracks in C1M2, C2M3, C2M8, MAP03, MAP12, MAP22, MAP25, MAP26, MAP27, DM03, DM06, DM09, DM17, DM24, DM31, and DM32.", but when I listen to those, nearly half of them are the same... I am curious, how would you like it better? Re-release of whole OSTs, or just the changed tracks. And if only the changed tracks, do I release only the ones that really changed or do I follow the changelog... dilemmas, dilemmas. :)
@@GoranObal Some tracks also switched maps, but I'm sure that doesn't matter, I'd say only new tracks. But for consistency sake you could do the whole ost

Total NoThingness is The Best Soundtrack.
Only recent got into doom. Love these music's.
A little musical flourish in the first track is 1000% from Parabola by Tool, and it fits just perfectly
