In this blog post, I discuss Vitamin K2 and osteoporosis. Specifically, I cover
1/. The scientific research into the role of Vitamin K in improving bone health.
2./ I also list the foods high in Vitamin K2,
3./ provide the current recommended Vitamin K2 dosage for osteoporosis,
4./ discuss Vitamin K2 deficiency, differences between Vitamin K1 and Vitamin K2, and
5./ tell you about a Vitamin K2 food source rock star.
Here is a summary of the key points of this article:
1/. Some, but not all research, demonstrates that people with osteoporosis can use Vitamin K2 to improve both bone density and bone strength.
2/. Vitamin K2 is more effective than Vitamin K1 for improving bone health.
3/. The main sources of Vitamin K2 are animal products and fermented foods. A Japanese fermented dish called Nattō is particularly abundant in Vitamin K2.
4/. Unless you are actively increasing your Vitamin K2 levels through diet or supplementation, you are likely deficient and have inadequate levels for your bone and heart health needs.
5/. Vitamin K2 MK7 dosage recommendation is 150 to 180 µg per day. This is based on the dosage used in most recent research studies.
6/. Recommended daily dosage for Vitamin K2 MK4 is 45 mg in Asia and Japan. Other jurisdictions do not provide guidance.
7/. Consult with your physician and a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist before starting a Vitamin K2 protocol. This advice is particularly appropriate for people taking anticoagulants.

Thank you. I have osteoporosis and was prescribed vitamin D3 and calcium, but as a result of my own research, I discovered how beneficial vitamin K2 and magnesium are for osteoporosis in getting the calcium to my bones, and I have been taking these in addition to calcium and vitamin D3 for quite a while now and have began to see improvements in my bone density which was not evident with just osteoporosis drugs, calcium and vitamin D3. These added supplements, along with apple cider vinegar also helped to remove calcium from my breast tissue and shoulder, which should not have been there in the first place.

Two years ago, my DEXA scores were thrown out because they showed too much improvement. I had osteoporosis at the time and the reading showed that I had moved back to osteopenia. I met with the dr. and told her that I had been supplementing with K1 and K2 for two years and felt that was why I had such improvement. She didn’t believe me. Drugs for osteoporosis are very dangerous and don’t work. I did have surgery to fix an area of my jaw that had deteriated fron taking Fosamax.

I agree wholeheartedly with vitamin K2. I also wanted to point out that if you want very strong bones....you need to have enough progesterone. I take progesterone as a cream and I've taken anywhere from 20 mg a day to as much as 140 mg a day (and just so you know....men do need progesterone....doctors won't tell men that). Often doctors also lie to menopausal women and don't tell them that progesterone is important for good bone health.....and worse than that....standard doctors will prescribe to women knock off hormones which make things worse for you bone wise and hormonally.....synthetic designer hormones like MPA, levonorgestrel and spironolactone are some of the worst endocrine disrupting drugs out there and they will probably guarantee osteoporosis and other very bad side effects in older aged women)

  • @nj3509
    @nj3509 3 года назад +3

Hi Margaret. You are saying the right thing in the wrong way. Guess you still don't understand the Vitamin K Phenomena too well. 'Vitamin K' is a combination of K1 + K2. In this video you are trying to explain about K2...only one part of the Vitamin K Combo that is involved in proper Calcium Metabolism. You are saying 'Vitamin K'...'Vitamin K'. Its not 'Vitamin K'...but the Vitamin K2. Vitamin K2 activates not just one...but two very important proteins in the blood and both are equally involved in Calcium Metabolism. One of them is 'Matrix GLA Protein' (MGP in short) and the other one is 'Osteocalcin Protein' (OCN in short). You need both proteins...MGP and OCN for the Calcium transport from the blood and into your bones and teeth. MGP binds all the extra Calcium from the soft tissues...blood vessels...arteries and hands over to the OCN...who then takes that Calcium and binds to the bones and teeth.

Calcium in the bones and Ca in the blood are different ranges. I have normal blood Ca, but I still show up with osteoporosis. Also no thyroid/parathyroid issues. In order to maintain organs like the heart, muscles functioning properly the blood takes Ca from the bones. In other words, the bones are a storage room for the blood to deliver to other organs and cells. Maintaining the appropriate CA consumption along with D3, Mg, K2, and other nutrients at the correct level for our body ensures that we do not run out of bone-building material and storage.

I'm now 65 & paying for not being given the proper treatment. I'm finding it challenging to find info. I have tried 4 of 5 Rx which consists of daily shots in my belly, oh boy. Prolia, deathly allergic to, Forteo, didn't do anything can't remember the names of rest. Compression Fractures in my spine, which also curves to the right. Chronic Pain requiring more shots in my back, pain in hips which are no longer the same length due to hip surgery, broke right hip, shattered left hip & right foot. If I break another bone, they can't fix it, scary to live with that. PS: when I was growing up here in America in Foster homes (don't know about you) we simply could not afford healthy food.

About 6 years ago on NPR radio they were talking about the importance of K2 and I guess if you could find that report or some studies from back 6 or 7 years ago at least that might give you more answers although maybe there have been better studies more recently .
But I think it was Weston Price who had traveled world and discovered something very strange about the eskimos . He couldn't figure out why they didn't seem to have cavities and how they were actually able to grow back broken teeth ! I'm pretty sure I have the name right when I say Weston Price.... I'm fairly certain he is the one who figured out the reason they were able to grow back teeth is because of all the healthy fats they were consuming through the various fish and whale blubber..... from what I recall he is the one who discovered vitamin K2 which is in your healthy fats .
Please look it up if you find the time . And then there are a few people who documented and showed them being able to grow back a cracked and broken tooth by doing a lot of bone broth and vitamin K2.... and a few other things
