My reg. cab came with 3:73's , it runs so good with just being bone stock, I hate to change it......I have a tuner and reset the shift points raising the shift range to 5800 or so, really help it...!
I thought about doing this to my 2010 Sierra 5.3 6l80 trans 2wheel drive double cab or ext. Because I do notice it has a nice sweet spot of efficiency around 1800-1900 maybe even 2,000. It’s catless and tuned just have 20’s stock height with a little rake and with street tires ls2. Im thinking after seeing you losing 2mpg. I get 20mpg with a mix of 65mph and 72mph. 18mpg at 80. Only issue is it has 310,000 miles now , I’m just worried with all the luck something is going to happen lol I stopped driving fast anyway due to the shake I never could cure
Whats your opinion on 3.42 vs 4.10 gears on daily driving? How much of an impact do you think 1,000 RPMs vs 1,300 RPMs will make in 100,000 miles of usage? Im asking because I might switch my challenger to a higher gearing. I want to get a better 1/4 mile, but I also care about the longevity of it in a daily driver application. Do you think its even a good idea or should I keep it all factory?
Higher Rpms usually drop gas milage a little, mine went down 2 MPG. The wear part im not sure because higher Rpms would indicate faster moving parts but it does place the engine under a lesser load while lower Rpms puts more a load on the engine but slower moving parts.
@APMotorsports0 maybe if it increased your RPMs by 2,000 I could see it really being a different, but I personally dont think +/-300 will destroy an engine
Half a second off the quarter mile with nothing but a gear ratio change is a huge gain! Thats badass man
This is a great upgrade specially if you tow/haul

But what transmission do you have?
6l80E
3.73 perfect in between

Mobile tunnel!!!
Informative video nice info thank u
At 65mph. I’m at 2200 Rpm. On a Chevy avalanche. Anyone know why ?
4.10 gears with stock size tires could potentially be it. Do you know what gearing is in it?
@@APMotorsports0 you’re right. It is a 4.10 with stock wheels. I would prefer lower rpm’s at highway speed
@adamnunez2260 you would have to change to a different gear ratio like 3.73, 3.42 or 3.23. Might hurt gas mileage but you could try taller tires.
What trans does your Avalanche have?
@@michaelspizzirri4079 4.10
What size tires?
33" tires
You a local? I live in Biloxi
I am in the MS gulf Coast area
Nice, I live in Biloxi. I knew that was Gulfport Dragway lol. Did you have to get a tune after you swapped gears?
@kevincrochet3427 Yes, because you have to re calibrate the Speedometer
Yall I have headers and my shi stays at 2k rpm to go 70
wym?
