The wallpaper is stunning. I’ve watched all your diy chateau renovation vlogs (sorry, your other vlogs about growing stuff are not for me) but the be been watching your renovation vlogs from the start and love what you’ve done so far. You both have a good sense of humour and I love watching you work together. ❤
Hello Carolyn, thank you for watching our journey, we really do appreciate it. As for the sense of humour, gosh it’s absolutely necessary living as we do 😊
The wallpaper is absolutely beautiful. It looks like it was expensive. It will set the tone of a class act restaurant. Best of luck. You have excellent taste.
Glad the family is all back together again. The wallpaper is stunning and will be a beautiful backdrop to the room. You both are such hardworking people and a lovely couple. Can’t wait to see the room finished. Deborah ❤❤😊😊
A little off topic but where does Julian buy his work pants? I think they look like they’d wear well and at the same time they are quite classy looking. I believe I’ve seen other chateau owners wearing similar pants. I wonder if they are unique to France…watching from PA, USA.
Beautiful wallpaper, the wood on top of the fireplace looks very contemporary, I would think because of the ornate mirror and painting that you're hanging above the fireplace? Maybe I'm wrong I Don't know? It's going to be beautiful either way. ❤
Love your choice of wallpaper for the new dining room. I am surprised that you plan to wallpaper a chimney breast, when you also plan to build a custom trumeau to cover the same area. Whatever you do will look great. Best wishes.
Hi Shirley, we are going to build the trumeau as a separate piece of artwork so to speak like a panel that will sit on top of the chimney breast. You will see about ten cm of wallpaper either side and then the trumeau will sit on top. 👍
@renovatingthechateau no don't about that at all. We've just been looking for paint colours for the hall, but need to take out a mortgage to by the one I want. By The Little Greene paint company. X
Oh gosh don’t even go there. We have spent a fortune on paint as I’m sure you have, and the thing is French paint is absolutely rubbish - it’s not like the UK where Dulux or even home brands will do in some areas if you get the colours you want. I have had luck with Graham Brown colours, but we can’t stretch to that for the next rooms as we have so much to do!
@renovatingthechateau might take my little greene chart to B&Q and see if Valspar can mix the colour as £33 a litre is a bit steep for me even though I bought 2 tester pots and the paint is so thick and creamy. Might have to settle for the wood panelling in the posh stuff and the walls in valspar. Oh, the joys of decorating just before Christmas. X
I don’t understand why you and the girls wouldn’t go with him for his father’s funeral, etc. There has to be something behind you not visiting his family. 🤷♀️
Hi Beth, there’s always a story with families of course. Whilst I think the comment is a little intrusive I will come back to you on it. Both Julian and I have parents who divorced and remarried when we were in our teens. Julian is very close to his mother, but was not as close to his father (it wasn’t his choice). It is only in the past couple of years that they have become less estranged and were building their relationship, then of course Julian’s father became ill. It wasn’t appropriate for myself and the girls to go over to the UK as unfortunately we never were given the opportunity to know his father or them their grandfather. It is a shame and we had hoped that with communications opened again it was a possibility for this to happen in the future, but it was not to be despite us trying since since Holly was born 13 years ago. So there you have it! Take care 👍
@@renovatingthechateau, family's are complicated sometimes. My siblings are all located locally, even though we are close in proximity, there's obligations for spouses on holidays now. Family's grow and it's understandable to be fair and have to share, at times, we are missing a few. Anyways, you don't owe anyone an explanation, but thank you, just the same. I am sorry for the time Julian was away from you and the girls, I know you missed him. All the best, sincerely in San Diego California.
@@renovatingthechateau I’m sorry, I was just curious and typed it out without really thinking about how it would be perceived. Thank You for being so honest. We all have some family drama of some kind. My curiosity seems to overtake good manners at times and I apologize for that.
That wallpaper is really special. This will be a gorgeous dining room.
Thank you Sally ❤️

It’s quite traditional to have a wooden mantle in France back then. We will see how it works with the trumeau and alter if needed
