A thick baking soda and water slurry applied to the stone and left to sit on it will draw out the greasy soot from the fire. Then just wipe it off. Nontoxic and easy.

mix bicarbonate of soda with a little water into a paste, stipple onto stained area with a clean paint brush and leave for 20 to 30 minutes, do not scrub or the bicarb will scratch the marble. when clean apply a small amount of wax to seal the marble.

The Pethericks (channel) just had sandblasting done by a gentleman named Martin, maybe contact him for the fireplace? He may have additional ideas.

Hello Jill well it’s almost three times as big now! Sowing has started, the peppers, tomatoes and aubergines have been potted on in to their first pots and the season is underway! Happy new year! 👍

Happy New Years use baking soda and peroxide and old toothbrush especially around all the fancy leaf decorations to try cleaning the fireplace marble. Good to see your progress and your lovely family. Good luck. ❤😊🇨🇦

Ammoni diluted with water and toothbrush , make a poultice with baking soda and water ... nice and thick smear on and fold up damp paper towel or damp cloth and painters tape it on .. leave 24 hours ... or a small amount of chlorine .. don't forget test sight

Hydrogen peroxide took red lipstick off my unsealed marble. It also cleaned it to the original color. Yellow was gone.

Hi Jim, we close half of the upstairs off in winter and use most of downstairs so it’s not too bad. But we do only heat rooms as we use them not every room all of the time 👍

Hello Francis, This office space is fine for now, I hardly spend any time in there, choosing to work on my laptop in our living spaces most of the time. We rented the entire chateau last summer to guests and will do the same this summer!

Happy New Year, nice to see you again. Use milk on the marble to give it a clean. I have tried this on a marble fireplace and it does lightly clean and gives it a nice sheen.
