Fuck I love this film recipe - been using it for a year glad to know others love it. It’s glorious with a glimmer filter or black pro mist. I have yet to find a more versatile simulation.
This! Just stay away from clarity setting in either direction, it slows shooting down so significantly and blacks out the screen for an annoyingly long time!
There is a new recipe named "Classic Cuban Negative Recipe" that a creator on reddit made and i have to say after shooting a few weekend with its defiantly amazing for skin and flowers. It would certainly look really good with the diffusion filter you use also.
Yeh defo gotta try this one out. For me personally I tend to mix up recipes for different vibes. I haven't been fully impressed with the recipes for Portra, Cinestill, or Kodachrome. This might be THE ONE. Going to cover an event the next couple days and I'll test it out.
This is amazing! No offense to Fujixweekly because he is truly the GOAT, but I didn't quite like the photos he took using this recipe. Yours though? I can see how this recipe is your favorite! My current favorite are Portra 800 v2 and Kodakchrome 64
Love your shots, this is exactly the style I fell in love with! About to buy my first Fujifilm camera and I think I've officially decided on the XT30. What lense are you using in these shots? Thats the final decision for me to make haha
Because you have that mist filter, does that affect the exposure compensation numbers? Like without the mist filter or ND would you be over exposing more than 1 2/3 stops? Coz I be using a similar recipe and I'm over exposing like 2+ stops sometimes.
The mist filter doesn’t really cut light but it’ll give it a bloom look. I’d say bring your exposure compensation to 0 or play with your manual settings case by case.

Noob question here. When you talk about exposure compensation. Do you mean specifically change the EC dial to add this in? Or do you mean like increasing ISO so it reads +1.6 etc?
I’m pretty sure the creator of the recipe meant the EC dial. They wanted it to be overexposed slightly for the “Bright” look. Raising ISO will raise the exposure of course so you could do it that way. Do whatever you think looks best! Hope that helps!
It's better to use a mist or diffusion filter than lower the clarity in settings, it doesn't look filmic in my opinion. The color and contrast are great though
Hi! Great photos brother! : ) I got a question - any idea why it takes to much time to save the photo when I use any recipes than without it? My X100VI needs like 2seconds to save it...
Maybe some settings take more processing for the camera. It takes a second to save the shot with the current settings. However when I change the clarity to 0 it saves the shot lighting fast.
hi, how do you switch back to one of the default factory recipes when you are on a Q button custom recipe? And is there a way in-screen to see which custom recipe is being used?
Some Fuji cameras allow you to input custom settings to achieve different colors like this one. They’re used to replicate what actual old school film looked like but in a digital format.
You said you add your grain in post, but you include 'Grain Effect: Strong, Large' in the recipe settings. Does this mean you actually had your grain set to 'off' in the photos above?
There’s a mix of both actually. I’ll turn the grain on and off depending on how I’m feeling. The grain setting listed in the recipe is how the creator of it intended.
If it helps, another photographer on youtube said they actually like using the grain effect within the camera, because they don't like the grain effect on photoshop/illustraitor. They say it feels to artificial and the fujifilm one feels more organic.
@@Chollette does the 400 dynamic range apply at lower iso as well? Or it always has to be at certain high iso levels to pull the 400% off? and if so does the camera adjust for that automatically?
@@felix6142 It's a kinda complex Fuji tech that automatically compensates ISO and mixes different signals and in-camera to try and get more dynamic range. It's totally analog, so it isn't some filter atop the RAW-it's actually getting more dynamic range.
@@felix6142 While the sensor does directly turn photons to voltage, that signal is still analog, not entirely digital. It processes it using the raw voltage and current from the sensor and not as an effect on the digital signal.
When look at the preview, the image looks sick, but when I press the photo its overexposed, do I have to lower the Iso ? the pb is that I can't see how the light is until I take the shot, thank you for help!
Not always. It depends on the image and the feeling I want. The creator of this recipe actually intentionally wanted the slightly overexposed look. Take a look on FujiXWeekly for their explanation.
Are the sample pics straight out the am jpgs??? Theyre looking really sharp like an art-piece. i bought the x100v exactly for that purpose. RN the pictures are god, but not good enough to hang them on my walls. Should i use lightroom afterwards???
What do you feel the images are lacking? A lot of them are out of camera but I do edit them in post after sometimes too. I won’t change the color, just shadows and contrast so it has more of a punch to it.
@@Chollette you're giving me so much hope right now. I can't stand editing after the fact and it's my dream to find a camera that can come close to replicating a vintage film look. I'm a total novice but helpful content like this is a lifesaver!! ❤
Great shots, but shooting film ≠ yellow highlights. I'm seeing this yellow cast a huge amount in film recipes... unsure how it's become a thing because film certainly is not about it... Is the ISO something you just have to remember or can you set your camera to auto ISO up to a maximum of “x” value?
You can definitely keep it at auto or change it manually depending on your scene. ISO won’t effect the colors, just the exposure.
