I think this was one of the last arcade games made by Midway in the early 2000s before Arcades really died in America. Used to play this on Time Out arcade
I played this in tenerife on holiday In 2001 when I was a kid. It was in the hotel bar and I played the shit out of for two weeks straight, I think I was on tower 9 by the end of the holiday but I remember the towers just got cooler the more you played, I remember a Halloween themed tower too, was the first arcade game I'd seen where you could save your progress with a pin number. Must have spent about 2000 pesatos on this machine alone
for a long time this game felt like a fever dream. no info about. still very little to this day. seeing this is brililant. having a multi-player arcade setup of the grid is kind of a life dream of mine.
They had this game at a store in my neighborhood when I was like 7 or 8. I used to ride my scooter up there every day with a big bag of quarters and play the shit out of this game. I miss it so much!
The Aladdin's Castle in my childhood mall had the full 6 cab setup and it was always busy from what I can remember. I thought it was cool to have a multiplayer IRL version of an arena shooter!
One day I just randomly remember that I was at this one birthday party at a lazerzone before and they had a few of cabinets for this game set up so I played it and I was pretty good at, but I couldn't remember the name of it. Luckily this game wasn't hard to find.
I’ve been trying to remember this game forever and this whole time I thought it was a Quake game for some reason. Completely forgot this had an announcer
we need to come together and develop a "professional League" for this game.. this game was THE thing that was played in arcades when i was in them... And I WOULD pay a registration fee to play this again on original consoles, or just a controller. just make it happen. I just want to body slam the banker into a total player wipe, SO BAD....
People should ask Ed Boom & John Tobias to determine whatever or not the appearances of Scorpion, Sub-Zero & Noob Saibot are canon in The Grid. Furthermore, people should also ask them whatever or not Total Carnage, Smash TV & The Grid are all part of the Mortal Kombat Universe.
what if we ask ed boon on twitter? like a lot of tweets i always wanted a karasu skin for liu kang since karasu can do the liu kang kick or mayba karasu is liu kang?
I wonder if the source code to this game is out there. That way, someone could reverse-engineer a PC source port of this like they just did with the Quake arcade game. It looks really cool and it's too bad not many people got to experience this
Hi, just wondering how to get MAME arcade games to run at 1080p at 60 FPS? I can get T2 arcade game to run on MAME, just trying to play at a higher res and fps if possible. Thanks

Nope cart fury championship racing was the last arcade game from midway.
Just 3 years Before the Raw Thrills company joined in Arcades

Is someone able to record the voice files?
I need that
DA BOMB.
I really do hope one day Ed Boon and his team brings this game back with more characters, online multiplayer, new modes, etc.
That would be my dream!! I desperately want that to happen.

This is awesome - thank you for sharing and thank you MAME team for all your hard work!
So its basically a 3d SmashTV, even seems like the same host.
I always felt like it was a sequel to smash tv
at least a remastered version with some features like scorpion and subzero on it ♥
funny you should say that, because they are in the game (noob saibot too)
Warner Bros. is not interested.

Interesting game... looks like Smash TV...
Ho. Lee. Shit. MY CHILDHOOD! :D
They had this game at Galloping Ghost Arcade in Chicago, IL, but I didn't have time to play it. Definitely want to give it a try next time I can.
I'd buy that for a dollar!
Used to play this game all the time at Gameworks.
Never even heard of this game.
Thanks.
Still playable (and utterly kickass) at the Galloping Ghost. Wish it was ported elsewhere.
I’m so fucking mad that this game was never ported to any consoles. Not even in an arcade game collection.
Amazing game i'm still playing it. Thx to the mame devs for their efforts

Took me forever to find this game online. I could never remember what it was called!! Thanks for uploading this!

Only if you love codemasters games*
this needs online multiplayer capabilitys lol
I used to play this at my local Burger King Holy SHIT
I remember kicking ass at this game at California Extreme
To reference they old games in a shooter is wild good luck comes from smash tv
What do you think if Midway's "The Grid" was released on the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube?
This and the bowling game at the Metreon
With the Sony store at the entrance… good ole days
I missed this game
2:28 I HEAR THAT!!!!
Don't think I didn't hear Liu Kang's yell right there.
and if you enter a cheat you’ll find some other popular characters from mk
Midway was a trip
This is what Saints Row would look like if it was made in the 90s
Smash TV sequel. Kinda.
The game is amazingly still on par to something like Fortnite.

Agreed, it would be fun on PC especially multiplayer! In the meantime check out Quake Live, Diabotical and Unreal Tournament!
I was the best at my arcade st this game, used to RIP people apart, 20 and 30 kills to 5 and 10 regularly. Miss it like you wouldn't believe
Wow, very nice game, awesome.
I loved this game at my local arcade. Doing battle royale well before fortnite made it popular.
Looks like a battle royale before those were a thing
I like his tie.
any help on files needed? I'm not having any luck.
Liu Kang's Kick Sound
has anyone solved the LAN multiplayer on it and got it to work
This is awesome. This is the one arcade machine I want at home !!! If this is mame, what joystick are you using and is this in pc?
can you please put up a tutorial on how you got this game to work
Apparently this game was too complicated to run on the Xbox, ans that's why there wasn't a home port
Did Star Ship troopers inspire this?
Karasu is liu kang in disguise...
Your aspect is super stretched out :(
Soooooo
Unreal tournament?
Yep, also check out Quake Live and Diabotical!

They weren’t designed to play like that noob.
I finally found a proper rom for this but it’s laggy. Is there a way to make this game run faster?
I can’t get the controls to work how did you do it?
What’s your control layout for it?
Ya no queda mucho tiempo
11:45
I rbink flame gunner has better aiming controls and movement dynamics
