Even 10 years later the D4 and D4S rock. It’s mid 2024 and I have them both and love them. Mirrorless? You can keep them. The fact Nikon made all the F mount lenses incompatible is a crime. You can keep the crappy Z lenses and cameras

I have been shooting for over 15 years. I am aware that the 85mm is a portrait lens. I am not going to sacrifice speed of auto focus, and silence for a 1/3 stop more light. I have used canon for over 5 years prior to this and they make great stuff, however the 1.4G Nikkor is a better lens in many ways. I feel its also sharper, and on a D800E makes it flawless in every way.
Definitely D4. I have done comparisons, 1.2 to 1.4 is very little if any difference. The D4 is the best lowlight DSLR ever made. The Nikkor 85mm focus speed is 3 times faster than the 85mm canon 1.2. The canon L primes are noisy and slow, nikkors are fast and silent. I would say D4 and Nikkor prime all the way. D4 is amazing.

My question for you...in your professional opinion will this lens quickly become my go to lens... Aligning with my photography interest?

I have the nikon D4 and the camera works fine it just when I put the flash it has a Daley and driving me crazy because when I want to take a picture fast I can't because of the Daley that the camera has with the flash. A quick q if i may ....when you attach a 70-200 2.8 to your d4(if still using..its 2020 now) how much mount play are you getting...im getting an 1/8th inch...the specialist nikon shop in London states that is 'normal' but another tog on youtube says that sounds a bit extreme...appreciate your view mate. Terrific camera! Is there any oil on the sensor problem with the D4? I used to shoot with a D3 and the oil problem was every bit as bad as those you read about with the D600. Since then I have been very hesitant to buy any more Nikon cameras.
Dude do you use gel in your hair?If so what kind that stuff is super stiff?So are you saying a D4 has better low light capability than a D3s?DXO didn't see it that way and that's what everyone goes by these days.The D4 is a monster and in my opinion has just the right amount of pixels.One thing that never gets mentioned is it has a good jpeg engine. I am so jealous of you being able to shoot that camera on a regular basis.I personally think a 5D III with Magic lantern will smoke that in video.
Unless you're shooting a lot of fast moving things like sports, concerts, combat or certain kinds wildlife, you probably don't need it. What lenses are you using?

I dont know i used to like a lot y review ut i have to say that y always speak good about nikon ( im a nikon guy ) in a moment were to me nikon its not doing well .. for example the d 800 wich i own .. 36 mpx are way to much .. the camera got focus issue since the second week i got the camera and live view problems.. i was thinking was just my camera but looking online i found out i wasnt the only one to have this problem .. now after the d600 thing again nikon did something that really make me mad .. im thinking of sell everything and buy a canon ( wich is a super camera with no issue at all - i cecked oline - with terrific high iso and super build quality ) if i sell the camerta im going to loose a lot of money
because i got several good glass and accessories ( battery , battery pack ...)but in this moment i have no other way to go.. nikon d610 has very stipid autofocus and shutter just 1 4000 ( so not really pro camera ) and the d4 its way to expensive for me .. im very sorry because i always love nikon and i would like to stay with them but at the moment i dont see other way to go.. im sorry that in this channel y always speak like nikon its the best .. in this moment to me its not ..

Uh I thought an 85mm was a portrait lens? Didn't think a portrait lens was suppose to focus so quickly? It focuses slowly do to it's 1.2 aperture it helps it to be more accurate. L lenses are noisy? They're only the most popular lenses among pros buddy. There's more to a lens than auto focus speed a noise which it makes. A 1DX and a D4 are so close you really can't be wrong with either. If you're a pro Canon is still top dog with CPS. Looks like you live in NY so Melville isn't too far.

I did not like the colors. It's not a revolutionary camera. Hdr in Jpeg? Crop modus into 12 MP? Huge camera again? It is not what we want. We want IBIS. We want IQ I mean natural colors. We want excellent live view not average live view, we want a very good viewing screen (also in daylight we want to see details). We want a touch-screen, we want so much more. This is average, that's what it is. Still I am going to buy one because I know I can get the max out of this ugly machine.

Its ok. It did make noise it sounded like a canon 50mm 1.8. It just didnt feel as fast or smooth as the 85mm 1.4G nikkor.

i got my d4 last night finally my fx trinity lens can be maximized , i came from a d300s
the low light capabilities would you say they are on par or better than that of the 1dx taking into account the f1.2 lenses available

Both cameras seem to be on par with one another. But the D4 does focus pretty instantly with this lens.
